It was okay. Just okay. I had the fried oysters, which were battered well and tasted amazing. My side was the fried okra, which was cold and felt like it could have been several days old. My son had the au jus sandwich. He would have gotten more meat at Arby’s. It was paltry. His french fries were warm. Hubbie got the shrimp and scallop dinner. The scallops had so much breading on them, they looked like hushpuppies. His side was the sweet potato, which was fine. Hard to mess up a potato. The service was nice and attentive.

We have enjoyed several wonderful meals at Mad Boar and even taken friends on one or two occasions without a complaint. Until now. My husband and I decided to eat out last night and the Mad Boar was our choice. When we arrived, the parking lot seemed rather full and we were worried we would have to wait for a table. That wasn’t the case at all as we were seated immediately. We he’d reviewed the menu on Unilocal prior to arrival so we were pretty sure, barring any daily specials, we knew what we would order. The drinks, as usual, were perfect. The pimento cheese and crackers made on the premises that they place on every table free, was delicious. We tried a new appetizer(If Pigs Had a Wings) with 2 different sauces(honey mustard and ranch) which were obviously made fresh and not poured out of a bottle. I ordered the salad bar with my entrée and went to make my salad as our entrees arrived. I ordered the Drunken Jack with Mac and Cheese on the side and my husband ordered the Rib Eye with baked potato. That’s when the disappointment began. The salad bar was as good as it has always been. Well stocked with a great variety of fresh ingredients and dressings. I filled my plate. My husband couldn’t wait and had dug into his steak when I arrived back at the table. Unfortunately he only took a bite before he realized the rib eye was more fat and grizzle than actual meat. To make matters worse, the steak was grossly undercooked. It was ordered to be medium but it was very rare when it arrived. My sirloin was also slightly underdone for medium so I filled up on my salad and took my steak home. Our waitress was very attentive and responded promptly to all requests. Someone of authority(possibly manager or assistant manager) stopped by our table and realized my husband’s steak was inedible. She was very apologetic and asked if she could bring him another one. He politely declined. When the waitress finally brought our bill she had removed the cost of the rib eye from the total and again apologized for the inedible food. I commend management for their attention. We possibly would have returned in the future but would never order the rib eye again. But when they comped the meal, they pretty much assured we would return to have another great meal. I applaud the Mad Boar. Great ambience, varied menu, attention to detail and obvious desire to please. Despite the poor experience we had last night, we will return!

We REALLY enjoyed The Mad Boar. The restaurant itself was beautiful, the servers were very friendly and attentive, and the food was as good as it gets. My husband took me for my birthday dinner, and I’m so glad that he did, it was just the night out that we needed.

Attended family reunion upstairs. Meal was buffet. One of the very best meals I have eaten from a buffet. The food was very good and full of flavor. The room was awesome and the staff was very friendly with great service.

The Mad Boar lunch was a Mad Mess. We were a group of nine where seven of us ordered salad bar– easy, right? You would think so. Our waitress, Dawn, only had two plates to bring to our table and we were all finished eating our salad bar meals about 30 minutes after ordering– no sign of the hamburger and chicken tenders our other two ordered. We had to go ask Dawn where these plates were and she responded«oh I should go check» as if she had completely forgot. Then the plates come out not even two minutes later so obviously they had been ready for who knows how long. If that wasn’t enough, once these two were done with their meals we sat waiting for over 15 more minutes so we could get the check. For a table of 9 it was not good service, for a table of 2 it wouldn’t have been good. We had to, again, get up from our table and try to find Dawn. She was busy so another waitress, Julie, helped us out. She was wonderful and helpful and split our checks for us so we could finally get out of there. If that wasn’t enough, we were charged automatic 18% gratuity because we were a large party. I understand this«policy» in some cases but this amount of gratuity demands that level of service which we absolutely did not receive. If we were not so behind on time because of how forgotten we were as guests we would have spoken to the manager to dispute this amount of tip. The food was okay, good, nothing too special. Would’ve given 3 or 4 stars if the service was up to par.

The food was awesome. The server Amber did a great job. I would recommend this place to anyone. I’m glad I didn’t look at the reviews first. I would have missed a great dining experience. Don’t miss this place if you are in the area.

Save your time and go somewhere else. It looks super cool and I had high hopes. Ordered a French dip which came with soggy fries and was mystery meat. Totally tough and flavorless. Husband ordered turkey pot pie which was just okay. The service wasn’t bad per se but the waitress was singing over the sound of the televisions.

Solid three. Right on par with your typical chain restaurant. Nothing stood out or was outstanding, but it was clean and the food was fine.

Holy Smokes. who woulda thunk Wallace would offer up such an eclectic restaurant. Had 3 meals here and was impressed with all 3. Fish and Chips was complete with 3 large pieces of filet and homemade chips. Bourbon glazed sirloin was delicious and the roast chicken was moist and tender. No complaints here.

Really good food and great atmosphere. Loved the pimento cheese brought out while waiting on food. Best crab dip I have ever had made with real crab. The salad bar is very fresh with lots of options. Really fresh seafood.

We went here with family, out of the 4 of us I was really the only one satisfied with the meal and I got salmon(all the other fish is deep fried) a family member got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich and she said it was«awful» very fatty. The menu I thought was limited, the atmosphere was nice, waitress was nice but slow and unorganized. We will be in this area for about 3 months, doubt we will return.

The food was just mediocre. The service was actually good and I liked the atmosphere. If they work on presentation of their food and make sure it’s piping hot it would help. They serve wrapped crackers in a basket with a dip-switching that to home made bread would do wonders for the«feel» of the place. It’s a casual atmosphere and I thought the prices of the food were reasonable. They have the right idea going so hopefully with a few improvements it will become a rockin place.

Uhhhhhh, this is hands-down one of the weirdest and worst restaurants I have ever been to. It’s dark and cavernous. The service is terrible, the food is mediocre at best, and you have to walk through a labyrinth to get to the restroom. Actually, the restroom was the best feature. Nice sugar scrub in the bathroom. Overpriced food that took forever. Don’t go here. You’re better off at the McDonald’s we were trying to avoid. Or Bojangles. Go to Bojangles instead.

Nice ambience, really odd for a place like Wallace. Very limited menu, I came for lunch and there’s not a lot to choose from. I figured that they must specialize in their menu. True enough, The Old World Dip sandwich is pretty inspired, it comes with its own au jus. Even my sweet potato fries comes with a cinnamon-sugar butter. The au jus, however, tastes more like beef stock(hello Swanson!) rather than real jus. Other than this, I think it’s a pretty quaint place to eat when you’re in this part of town.
