Dr Shah is fantastic. She was able to help my so with a knee issue that had been misdiagnosed by other providers for 4 years. Also, the PTs are really great here too. The office staff is attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this place

Came to Dr. Shah with a rotator bursa issue; she diagnosed that quickly, gave me an MRI and cortisone shot and prescribed PT. 2 weeks later I was 95% better. I had mentioned that I was having some anterior knee pain that was especially troubling while driving and would not allow full flexibility. She did a scan; discovered a small cyst; drained it and added some minor cortisone. It’s been six weeks; no more pain while driving and flexibility is back.
Oh, and also, she is a pleasure to work with and I recommend her unconditionally.

If I could give Dr. Shah 11 stars I would. After my first appointment with Dr. Shah I almost cried out of joy and relief. I am a professional cellist in the Bay Area. I have over time developed a serious right should injury due to misalignment of my shoulder joint. I brought my cello into the first visit and she immediately had me start playing. She wanted to know all the range of techniques I use, the different cello bows I use, and spent considerable time examining the playing process. After she brought out a replica of the shoulder and explained to me in detail what the different parts did and what I was doing with them. I then went back for an Ultrasound which she had me play cello for as well. She brought int the physical therapist she had assigned me so that he could see me playing with the ultrasound. Her wholistic and detailed approach has given me great hope that my injury is treatable. She recommended physic twice a week to help correct the imbalance. She has given me two cortisone injections, one into the muscle and one into the subacromial bursa. She has been very informative while administering the cortisone and did a very nice job of minimizing the pain and anxiety of the second shot. As a musician it is often hard to find practitioners that can truly understand the nature of what you do physically as most just liken it to sports but don’t often try and find out what is different about it physically. While it is similar, it is also quite different and just as demanding in many ways. Having a Dr. that takes time to understand you these days seems rare and she is certainly one of them.

She was great over all. But make sure to read all the paper work that they have you sign. I ended up paying for the X-​ray because the bill for the X-​ray does not come from dr Selina, it comes from Saint Francis which was not in my insurance network (but dr Selina was). It is my fault not reading all the paper work but it’s kinda tricky.

As a enthusiastic golfer, my painful puffy left knee became too much of a focus. Finally, I bit the bullet and went to my regular GP who told me it was arthritis and put me on Celebrex. No relief after 6 weeks. Went to my GP’s Orthopedic recommendation who sent me for an MRI and then told me «You are just getting old».
My boyfriend found Dr. Shah on Unilocal and made an appointment for me. She immediately sent me for a «sunrise» x-​ray that showed my knee cap was not tracking as it should. The practical explanations and fixes have me playing 18 holes, three days a week and walking. And my left knee looks and feels like my right.
Dr. Shah is far and away the best doctor I’ve had. I have always felt like they say «practicing medicine» for a reason, but I think she’s truly on track for «perfect!»
Recently I’ve developed a shoulder problem. Went to the S.F. office and saw one of the other doctors. Yes, «practicing medicine.» Ended up making an appointment in the Walnut Creek office to see Dr. Shah. Receiving her calm practical evaluation made it clear, I will follow her to any location!!!

Dr. Selena is amazing (read the other reviews). The only comment is she works in a facility where they charged me 100 $ per visit. So to be clear: I co-​paid the doctor fees along with my insurance then I got brand new bill for just being in the facilities.

I can’t top all the great reviews here. I do agree with them. I’ll just say she is knowledgeable, personable, listens well, and addresses your needs.

Dr Shah was great but…
DO NOT have your x-​rays taken here. Both my husband and I were charged over $ 1000 EACH for ours (his hips and mine ankle).
His current Dr.‘s office charged less than $ 200 for the same set of x-​rays. Go figure.

Had my first visit with Dr. Shaw. It was a very pleasant experience. She really listens to what you have to say. There is not the sense that you are rushed. She was very personable and professional. She reviewed my MRI with me and explained what she was seeing. A plan of care was given and made suggestions for current problems. Referred me to one of the other physicians for a non-​spinal issue. The office staff was friendly, efficient and took care of arrangements for PT, request for records from another physician and set up appointments for everything.
So all in all 2 thumbs up.

Dr. Selina Shah has treated all four members of my family for sports related injuries and each of us has had a terrific experience. Of particular note, two of us (my daughter and me) had each been incorrectly diagnosed by other doctors and spent time and resources without good results. But when Dr. Shah became involved she identified the correct ailment, made the proper diagnose and prescribed the right treatment plan and both of us came away very happy. Simply put, Dr. Shah treats the patient and not the diagnosis. In my specific case, I had a biceps issue (too much tennis) but once that was treated the pain did not go away properly and I wound up spending months rehabbing the biceps to no avail. My luck changed when Dr. Shah came back from maternity leave and I was able to see her. She then started from scratch only to read in my records that in an earlier sonar gram on file she had noted that my shoulder showed signs of bursitis which could explain the ongoing pain issue. Once we treated the bursitis I immediately healed. If you have a sports injury and want a competent, experienced sports medicine doctor who focuses on the patient and not the «easy» diagnosis then I’d recommend Dr. Shah without hesitation. Finally, I should add she has a very pleasant demeanor and always approaches situations with a positive outlook.

I am a professional contemporary dancer and I have yet to work with a doctor as insightful as Dr. Selina Shah when it comes to diagnosis. Being hyperaware of my body and how it functions, when experiencing an imbalance of any sort, it creates a major setback in my training, rehearsing, and performance. Dr. Shah is able to perceive and explain my imbalances, which are often causing discomfort and inflammation, quickly and accurately and is able to prescribe to me the proper Pilates/​Physical Therapy treatment necessary for my recovery immediately. Her office staff up front is extremely accommodating and helpful and her physical therapists outstanding. My office visits and therapy sessions begin punctually and I am always left feeling relieved due to the high care that I am receiving. I highly recommend all professional dancers and athletes to see Dr. Selina Shah if experiencing physical imbalances and injuries and to pursue receiving treatment at the Center for Dance Medicine in Walnut Creek. Of course, not dancers will benefit immensely as well!

I had the worst experience with Jon Miur over a boxers fracture.
Shah was nice, understanding, and gave me the examination I needed.

I had bursitis in my right shoulder from playing volleyball and tendinitis in my forearm. I needed to get fixed up quickly before a business trip. Dr. Shah fixed me up and I was well on my way. My favorite thing is there wasn’t any pressure to do PT. She recommended it and I tried it, but when I said it didn’t help, she said to stop and do home exercises. Awesome!

What a Godsend! I found Dr. Shah through her awesome Unilocal reviews, and she was as amazing as most folks claimed.
I came to her with a hamstring injury (apparently it’s a bad idea to do a split at age 48) I sustained several weeks ago. She was warm, professional, confident and knowledgeable. After listening carefully to my symptoms and history, she had nailed down the issue and came up with a plan.
Her staff is very responsive, friendly and knowledgeable. Today I started PT with Patricia in the same office, and I feel like I can see the light at the and of the tunnel for the first time in years. After thorough evaluation, she pinpointed the primary areas causing my pain, and after only one visit, I can already feel results. A friend has the same, exact issues, and I told her she MUST make an appointment– why suffer or do further damage when help is right around the corner!

Dr shah has been a light an the end of a long dark tunnel. I have been suffering pain in my low back and SI joint since my first pregnancy 4 years ago. I have been to countless doctors and PTs (you name it — neurologist, rheumatologist, orthopedist, acupuncture, physiatrist, chiropractor) with no improvement and a vague diagnosis. So many quickly referred me on to the next person when they couldn’t immediately figure it out.
Dr shah was referred to me by my sister who is a PT, validated by other reviews on Unilocal.At my first appt with many xrays and mris in hand she spent one HOUR with me reading the scans, listening and thinking about what might be the cause. An hour! And actually showed me the scans and explained them to me. She then suggested a new diagnosis and course of treatment as well as a fantastic PT (5 stars also for Natasha at sports and orthopedic leaders in rockridge). And she was honest that it might take time to sort it out but she’d stick with it. And she absolutely has been endlessly tenacious.
I am currently trying a procedure called prolotherapy performed by a collegue in her office dr Ross (thumbs upon him too). TBD on results but I know that if we need to try something else dr shah will be the first one trying to think up a solution. That commitment is simply rare today in medicine.
Also as a side note I’ve been very impressed with the office — helpful front desk, easy to get an appt, and very collaborative docs who help each other (oh btw I saw the podiatrist there too dr hyatt).
If you want a doc that will really give you the time and commitment to finding solutions and results pay a visit to dr shah. I hope this posting will help someone else as much as it helped me in finding dr shah.

Selina is amazing! My husband has had a number of physical difficulties for several years and has never been comfortable going to a doctor. When he met Selina, they had instant progress. She was able to diagnose and treat his elbow, foot and back. As well, he followed her advice and saw a PT that she recommended. He has been injury free since seeing Selina! I highly recomend her to anyone due to her keen ability to diagnose and fix problems.

When I saw Selina, I had muliple injuries and was very worried I would never be able to engage in activities that I love. I had put off seeing a doctor for years and was terrified that I would be told that it was too late to fix many of my issues. When I met Selina she easily and accurately diagnosed the root of my injuries and prescribed safe and effective treatments that healed me! I highly recommend Selina, you would be crazy not to see her! If you have any injury, she is your best bet at a speedy recovery.

I saw Dr. Shah because of knee pain that wouldn’t go away after a car accident, despite weekly visits to my acupuncturist and osteopath.
She was on time, friendly, professional and immediately addressed my concerns medically. In my first appointment, after examining me, she had xray and ultra sound done, then determined an MRI was necessary and got me in within a few days at a convenient facility. She then saw me again one week after my first week. She reviewed everything with me comprehensively and recommended surgery. I was very reluctant. She talked me through my concerns and gave me her opinion of the options.
I decided on surgery and she guided me through a somewhat difficult process of finding a surgeon that was available soon and would take my insurance. The surgeon she referred me did an outstanding job.
She and her office staff stayed involved and immediately responsive until I was in the proper surgeon’s hands.

I saw Dr. Shah for the first time last week with post op shoulder pain that continued on and on and my original orthopedic surgeon was ignoring me, blowing me off and throwing pain meds at me. I went to Dr. Shah and she listened and she paid attention to what I said and she is willing to investigate further and I am so grateful. We are still trying to figure out what is going on — it’s not straightforward. However, she is taking me very seriously and it is refreshing to talk to a Physician who listens and will take action. I could be crazy, sure, but she makes me feel legit and she has some pretty darn good diagnostic skills as far as I can tell. She is young and smart — go see her. And the office staff was so so nice. They have a good thing going there.
