My daughter and I were travelling to Waltham, and the hotel we were staying at told us that Dragon Chef was the only placed that delivered late at night. I normally love Chinese food, but this was honestly the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. The sweet and sour shrimp was nothing but batter with small salad sized shrimp in the middle. It was also dripping with grease, as were the egg rolls. The beef broccoli was cold, very salty, and tasted like the meat was on the verge of being spoiled. I would never recommend that anyone eat here. We ended up taking a couple of bites and then just pitching the whole meal.

Lost my business for life… This is the 2nd time I placed an order via phone and when I arrived they never put in my order. The 1st time they put in the order but threw it out because I didn’t arrive in their window of 15 minutes. I personally don’t like my food scalding hot but trying to explain this through the language barrier is near impossible. The 2nd time they didn’t even bother to put in my order. Since this behaviour is their norm. I am going else where. They are also call happy, if you call them. They will always call you and leave a uncomprehendable message. Advice = Put in phone orders and do not throw peoples food out if they are 15 minutes late. Wait al least an hour before you do this. You are wasting food and loosing customers. Unfortunately, you have no idea what Unilocal is and would need a translator to read it if you did, so none of these reviews get heard and issue will never get addressed.

I am very very disappointed in the food quality. Their pork fried rice isn’t very good, and I also ordered some general Tsao’s and I don’t know how to explain it but it tasted just off… and it leaves a horrible aftertaste in your mouth even hours after.

I think the food is pretty decent. It’s not the place you die to go for but neither a place you always avoid.

Food has been consistently okay. Nothing special, but nothing horrible either. I have ordered from them many times with none of the horror stories about the staff that I have seen here. The only bad thing was that about a month ago I called for a delivery order and they were obviously busy helping someone else. No problem with that. But rather than ask me to hold on, which I expected and they have done in the past, I was told to call back in a few minutes and then was hung up on. With a blink of my eye, I called Asia Wok. I caved in and ordered a few days ago. BLAND! May never order there again.

I have been ordering from them for a long time and never had an issue until today! Oh my goodness, I made the mistake of calling on my house phone and ordered delivery because my phone was dead and charging. Well, two to three hours later I called and they said they called many times and no one answered. I was yelled at and when I asked for a refund I was yelled at in a mix of English and Chinese. All I got out of it was that it was my fault for not answering my phone. I went to the extend of having the cops put a report. Next will be the better business bureau. They are thieves!

The restaurant accused me of stealing. I placed an order at 11:30 pm and at the expected delivery time, the food had not arrived. I called the restaurant and the man on the phone said«food comes in 40 minutes, you placed order 10 minutes ago, you lie!». I called back and asked if I could pick up the food instead. I went to the restaurant and the food was not there, the woman at the counter said that someone picked up the food and signed for it. The order sheet had a large signature that I did not recognize. The woman at the counter said she would re-make the food and I took it home shortly after. 45 minutes later, I get a phone call from the restaurant which is claiming that I sent a friend in to pick up the first order and defraud them of the second. The woman cursed at me repeatedly and told me I was no longer allowed to order from them. I order hundreds of dollars of food from this restaurant and am appalled by their unprofessionalism and accusations. If additional charges appear on my credit card, I will be disputing them. New Dragon Chef should not be a Foodler partner.

Man, this is the only fast food Chinese I prefer and personally recommend here in Waltham. My order is always fresh, never over cooked like most places that«deep fries» everything too long, quickly ready for pickup, and my order hasn’t been delayed or messed up. The portions are more than enough and the prices are average. I’m always content when I order with them. My co worker and siblings love ordering out from here when we get together. Nice staff here. Thanks.

This is a great choice for someone looking for a restaurant open late at night. It offers a variety of dishes including both vegetables and meat.

I’d given Dragon Chef a pretty good rating before, but I just have to update because my last experience was so awful. Thinking it would be simple enough, I got steamed chicken with broccoli. My partner got the Kung Pao Chicken. The chicken in mine was straight-up inedible. It was just the wrong consistency for chicken; it felt kind of like the inside of a McNugget, just too mushy and really off. The Kung Pao chicken barely had any chicken at all, just peanuts and celery and sauce. We had a little bit of lo mein as well, and that was just disgustingly greasy. All in all, the low cost and hours no longer outweigh the frankly gross food here.

Located in Waltham’s South Side, right on Moody Street is this Chinese restaurant. My experience there was far from great and the only redeeming factors were the fact that they were open late, weren’t expensive and were able to churn out my order in just a few minutes while I waited outside. The guy behind the counter was pretty friendly and their drinks were cold but with that said, this food just straight up sucks. The egg roll was greasy and I took one bite, which turned out to be one too many. It was bland and just not good. Didn’t seem all that fresh either. My orange chicken was greasy and the sauce had this burnt taste and oily texture. I know that it’s far from being a great dish, but this was one of the worst ones I’ve had. This is yet another mediocre Chinese food restaurant in Waltham. That being said, it’s still better than the highly questionable Tiki House which is a few doors down and if you’re drunk and in need of something to sober your ass up, just play it safe and stick to the classics. They won’t be great, but you won’t get sick and it won’t run you too much either.

Food is standard for the price/style. Things that are good about this place: Open later than anybody else near me, food usually here within 45 minutes. I don’t think the food itself is bad. Things that I don’t like: When I order for a delivery and you’re parallel parked in the street and call me to come to the car and pick up the food. Not once, or twice, but numerous times. Roommate has also experienced this as well. There are also the number of times(two or three) that the lady that sometimes delivers has just opened my front door and walked right into my living room. Mind you, my living room is right next to the front door, and I have a dog that barks whenever anybody walks up the steps to the porch, so she wasn’t waiting out there knocking while I sat around ignorant to it. After almost three years I think we have them fairly well trained, don’t make me walk to you when I’m paying you ~$ 6 or so between tip and delivery fee, and don’t invite yourself into my gosh darned house. I came very close to giving a third star for the time that she forgot to bring one of the menu items, and asked if it was ok if she just didn’t bother and«credit us next time». We politely informed her that we were interested in receiving our entire order. Upon hearing this she reared her head back to the stars, proclaimed something in her native language that I can only assume was her begging for strength from her ancestors. Making me cry from laughter can erase a lot of poor service.

Dragon Chef isn’t anything special, but they do have one of the best Wonton soups I have ever had. Not only is it very flavorful, but they put a ton of veggies in it as well, unheard of by most restaurants. As for the rest of the menu, it’s about as good as you’d expect a zero-frills place to be. Very greasy, but I continue to order from there due to its proximity to my place. I’d suggest sticking to the basic dishes, lunch/dinner combos and apps, since the specials are underwhelming.

It is what it is. I don’t dislike the food — but then again, when I am ordering«Chinese» food take out at a place like this, I want greasy MSG goodness. As the other reviews have mentioned, this is one of the few late night options in Waltham. Everything I have had here has been tasty, and more or less exactly what I expected.

Dragon Chef is my guilty pleasure. I come here when I want cheap, greasy, americanized Chinese food. I only order two dishes: general gau’s chicken or salty spicy pork chops. They really do a good job here with the batter. They fry the meat with just enough batter, it’s minimal and not heavy. Get the pork fried rice with these dinner specials. I can’t speak of anything else on the menu, but these two entrees are great. Portions are big. One dinner special lasts me two meals.

Dragon chef, you’re off the list. That was the nastiest food I’ve ever tried to eat. I have appropriately low expectations for midnight Chinese food and this even cruised well below that. Egg rolls: Crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside. I’m not sure but the cabbage may have been rancid. And was that lettuce in there? Sesame chicken: The sauce was alright but the questionable protein. chicken shouldn’t have that texture. As mushy as the egg roll. Vegetable fried rice: Bitter, tasted like dirt. The baby corn tasted like a drain stopper. I’ve eaten here a couple times now. It’s never been good. I have no idea how this place stays in business. Probably the total lack of reasonable food in Waltham after 11. Next time, I’ll go to Wendy’s.

«Oh no, Don’t go to New Dragon Chef, its the icky Chinese food takeout place in Waltham» Ok people, Have you been to Lily’s? Beef and Broccoli was super cheap, super filling, super delicious on a 1AM tuesday night. Chicken and Broccoli was less delicious 1AM wednesday night, but still fairly edible. Their hot and sour soup was an abomination, way to vinegary for my tastes. Very quick delivery service is notable here, its like they know what i’m going to order and have it ready to go as soon as I put down the phone. 3.5 stars.

Dragon Chef is a fan favorite here at Bentley. It’s cheap dinner specials, late hours on weekends, and large portions make for a good meal or two(I almost always have enough leftovers for the next days meal). While its not the highest quality of chinese food, it certainly does its job. Its tastey chinese at a low price and pretty quick delivery. If they’re slow for whatever reason or mess something up, its not unusual for them to throw in an extra order of something to make up for it. Recommended.

Price is right — not terribly expensive and fast service. Plenty of heat in the dishes. I appreciate that the Orange Chicken was not chewy(as I have found in some takeout locations) and Kung Pow was great! Some say that Asia Grill cannot top this eatery, but I beg to differ. There are so many Asian options for dining out in this city. Enjoy a little bit longer of a walk for some better quality Chinese take out.
