If you live in Massachusetts and need a tuxedo, you should go to Formalwear Ltd. This is quite simply the best customer service I have ever received, period AND at a fair price. The owner took care of me personally, gave me great advice, and wouldn’t stop until I was thrilled. I needed a Tuxedo on EXTREMELY short notice and he literally rushed from home to take care of me, right at the end of the day! I walked out 15 minutes later with the perfect tux. Not only that — he would not stop until I was thrilled. The first one I tried on I didn’t like and without me even saying a word he said«I can see this one is not right, let’s try one with a more natural shoulder» and started trying to find me something that was great. This place is special — you should go here for anything you need, even if it’s a longer drive. You will not regret it.

We were very impressed with the efficient and friendly service we received by Jim in Formalwear. Jim is very knowledgeable, took good measurements and was very attentive to all my son’s requests as he was fitting him a tux for his Junior prom. When we came back to pick up the tux Jim followed through and made sure everything was fitting well. My son could not have been happier when we walked out of the store and he looked great for his prom. The price was lower than anywhere else we looked. We’ll definitely be back next year for senior prom.

This is long overdue… but I went with Formalwear Ltd for my wedding 2 ½ years ago. Coordinating my groomsmen, my father, my father in law and my nephews to all get fitted and have everything come out and look great was a challenge. But Jim was there for me from start to finish. My wife’s family are Waltham natives and Jim came highly recommended when I was considering Men’s Wearhouse(a pattern I’m seeing amongst other reviewers). Thanks to Formal Wear, everything fit great and really looked great in all of the pictures. Thanks Jim!

My husband needed a tuxedo for an event. Great service & selection. Rather than using a catalog Jim has an excellent selection in stock for trying on. Very flexible & service oriented. Highly recommend!

I needed a tux for a black tie wedding and I only had a week to get it. I went in to the Men’s Wearhouse on Boylston. They had a snake oil salesman that barely took a second to listen to what I wanted before he started trying to sell me on buying a crappy tux. While he went into the back to pull something, I walked out. I went out of my way to Waltham and it was well worth the trip. I got personal attention at Formalwear Ltd and they really worked with me on what I wanted. The quality of the tuxedo was outstanding, and came with everything I needed(shoes, cufflinks, studs, ties, vest, etc.). I’ve had to rent a tux as part of a wedding before, and it has always felt like the measurements were just to give them a ballpark so that they could pull the closest thing off the rack. Not here. The tux fit me perfectly in every way. I was really pleased and the service could not have been better or more helpful. Thanks!

Jim helped me at a time of desperation. I had my bags not make it to town for an important interview the next morning and I needed a suit quick. While his selection of Tuxes were not perfect for my needs that day, he opened the shop early and gave me a loaner at no cost in case unless I needed the suit as backup. He is a real genuine good guy and if I land the job, I’ll be at his dry cleaner next door for sure, I know this is a real trustworthy business who can assist in a time of need.

We were mostly satisfied with Formalwear Limited. They have an adequate selection, though a bit outdated. Service is their highlight; it’s friendly, personalized, and attentive. The truth is, I don’t think there are any great tux shops in the Boston area. After my family had a bad experience with Russo Tux for my brother’s wedding, we were determined to use another tux shop for my wedding, but we found that there really aren’t a lot of options out there. We found Men’s Wearhouse to be so limited in their color and pattern selections. We just weren’t crazy about anything they had. Classic Tux had a huge selection but was pricey, and you can only see their stuff in a catalog as their store has barely anything in stock. Then if you order with them, it comes in just a few days before the wedding, and if you don’t like it it’s too late to change it. We checked out Keezer’s, and it was a disorganized mess of a place with old tuxes, and they cannot guarantee you that your groomsmen will match each other. So we arrived at Formalwear LTD, which seemed to be the best choice, although not perfect. The best part about this store is that it is not a chain and you can work on-one with the owner, Jim, or Michael, the Manager. They give you a lot of personalized service and will go above and beyond to make you happy. We wanted a specific color vest and tie for the groom that he did not have in stock, and he special ordered it for us at no extra charge. It came in shortly after we ordered it and it was perfect. Formalwear has good prices, but Jim was also willing to match a better deal that another store was offering us. On the downside, my husband’s suspenders broke while he was getting ready on the wedding day, causing him to run late. Some of the other complaints from the guys were that the shoe selection is small and uncomfortable, and that the tuxes may have been old and falling apart a bit. I wouldn’t have noticed if they didn’t tell me this, though, as I thought they looked fine and the tuxes all looked nice in the pictures. My husband and I think that the black tuxes that were given to him and the other guys in the wedding party were not the ones we originally chose, but we liked them so we didn’t complain. Some of the tuxes didn’t fit right, but this was fixed in time for the wedding. The store allows you to pick up your tuxes up to 4 days before the wedding, which I think is earlier than most tux shops, and they also have more flexible drop-off hours. Overall we were very happy with our experience at Formalwear Limited. Jim and Michael made sure that we got what exactly what we wanted. We would recommend it as a great option.
