Great food, atmosphere! Bar is perfect to watch sports with a great selection of beer. Definitely try the Green Flash!

I really liked this American traditional sport bar. They have very fresh and taste beer. Chicken wings are awesome. Five stars.

Great servers, however, went in for the $ 5 burgers and it was awful. I like my burgers well done. This was like a burnt hockey puck. I ate the fries left the burger. Took the burger to go for my dog and he didn’t even want it. Not sure how any of the other food is, but stay away from the burgers if you like them well done like me.

They have booths with personal TVs?! Feel like that defeats the purpose of going out to eat and socializing, but probably good for families with kids. I’ve only ever gone on Tuesdays during their ½ off app special. It’s a pretty good deal although don’t expect anything healthy to be on the menu. Everything else on the menu seems a bit overpriced in my opinion. $ 11 for a relatively small wrap? Meh.

This was the perfect venue for our daughter’s baptism lunch reception! We had 24 people(15 adults, 9 kids) and the private room could accommodate up to 30 pretty well. It was so easy to work with the restaurant staff to arrange the event. They were willing to let our guests order off the regular menu instead of setting up a special event menu or buffet, so that was a major factor in our decision to have the event there. We’ve also enjoyed casual meals there on occasion. Would recommend to others — nice neighborhood restaurant.

I had really high hopes for this tavern. As a person that suffers from Celiac’s, any restaurant that caters to the gluten free community is high on my «must visit» list. So a friend of mine and I went to check it out Saturday night. I love me some chicken wings but it’s not very often I get to order them from a restaurant. Needless to say, I was ridiculously excited to order wings. The first red flag was when our server came back and told me that the bone-in wings were not gluten free, only the boneless ones could be made to order. Disappointed but still gung-ho to enjoy the experience, we went for the boneless. When the food came out, I received a plate of marinated chicken breasts covered in buffalo wing sauce. This… this was not cool. It was so beyond cool that here I am Monday afternoon still severely pissed off that I ordered boneless wings and received marinated chicken breast in sauce. Who the bloody F%^& does this?! Had the wings been properly presented and prepared, I wouldn’t have minded the dingy atmosphere, the country music on repeat(on a Saturday?! really?!), and the overall dead beat ambiance for a bar on a Saturday night. But given the poor excuse of food that we were served I will not be returning and I do not recommend this place to anyone.

This is a nice place for the evenings that you want to get out but don’t want to make a big fuss of things. The bar area has good space, several TVs, and is dimly lit(in a good way). I like the selection of «home style» favorites(meatloaf, chicken pot pie, chili, etc.) and the beer selection is better than average, without being exciting. For me this place is all about comfort and ease, and it takes care of that very nicely. I’ll be happy to keep coming back every so often. I haven’t done so yet, but I can picture myself at the bar watching an afternoon college football game… and really enjoying things!

I would’ve chosen 0 stars if it was there. I used to be a fan of this place, but every time I go there, something happens worse than before. last time I was there it was a wings night. my gf and I ordered 20 and guess what? as we were eating, I noticed a bited chicken wing at the bottom of the plate! and it was much colder than the other ones! ewwwww… what can I say about that? after I asked to talk with the manager, first he apologized, but then he asked: «you are not lying, are you??» wow! just wow! how racist a person can be! I have nothing more to say. NOTRECOMMENDEDATALL.

A cool place with great food and plenty of good drinks to choose from. There is indoor and outdoor seating, as well as free cornbread for the table(which I am a huge fan of). I had a turkey burger and my partner had a steak. It was just the right amount of food at a good price and we both cleared our plates. Definitely would go again and want to try more of their menu.

Started going here for their Monday night chicken wing special. They do know how to do wings properly, that’s been confirmed. Nice room, easy parking, and very friendly service. The bar room can get busy, but I like the ambiance and there are tvs everywhere to catch up on the latest news /sports. It’s good to have a place close to home with consistently good wings.

Not bad, but I won’t go back. Here’s why: We went for the 50 Cent wing deal. I ordered a dozen, but I guess you can only order 10 or 20. I got 20. They brought the wings out with our apps so by the time we got to the wings they were cold. Whatever, that’s not so bad. HOWEVER, when I asked politely to wrap up the rest(half) of my wings, our bartender told us THEREIS A $ 2.00TAKEHOMEFEE! I audibly laughed loud enough to make a scene and re-iterated the unbelievable line that I was just told about paying to take my food home. It’s not our bartender’s fault, so I didn’t say anything negative to her, but I did slash $ 2.00 off of her tip. Sorry I’m not sorry. I thought it was a bit strange when we ordered because the bartender asked, «Blue Cheese and Veggies?» So I said, «Uh… yea???» BECAUSETHAT’S WHATCOMESWITHBUFFALOWINGS. I was charged an extra $ 1.75 that the bartender did not explain upfront. This was my first experience with John Brewer’s Tavern and I’m not going back to this restaurant. I should have just walked out and not paid the entire bill. We also wanted a pitcher of summer shandy and our bartender said we couldn’t — that John Brewer’s Tavern only sells Coors by the pitcher. To me, that means they have essentially ZERO beer selection. Yea… I’m not going back to this place again, sorry. I would suggest to anyone I meet to avoid this place.

.50 wings on Sunday and Monday is a damn good deal especially if there’s a game on. One thing that I really like about this place is that if you ask for your fries or wings well done, they will actually do it and they come out nice and crispy. I can’t even count how many places screw this up. Beer selection is solid and they do up the frites glasses which is a nice touch. Plenty of parking is also nice if your sick of trolling the moody street bars where it’s damn near impossible to find street parking. Had some wraps and sandwiches and the like and everything has been pretty decent.

A bit of a wait. Sat at the bar w a friend for a drink. Shared a 4 sampler. Loved their blueberry craft beer with real blueberries in them. Very friendly, nice bartender, who seemed to know everyone who sat at the bar. Seems like he makes a great effort to learn names/regulars. Great place for beer! Haven’t tried their food yet!

This was our first time and Mike, our server, provided great service(he is in training). I wanted shrimp pesto pasta but it wasn’t available since this was a special. Mike went into the kitchen to ask and they were able to do this special so thank you for accommodating. It was good. One thing about this dish that I would recommend is adding sun dried tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes. The browser 45oz sample was good. Mike labeled our leftovers!!! That was nice of him. We will be back for sure. Thank you for the great service Mike.

Working in Waltham, my coworkers and I go to John Brewers for lunch quite a bit(about once a month). The menu is Pub fair, but have a decent salad selection as well. My go-to lately is their arugula and goat cheese salad with salmon. The servers are friendly, however their kitchen is slow and you may end up waiting a while for your food to be served. Also, their prices have gone up in recent years. Their arugula + salmon salad costs almost $ 18… Fiorella’s, an elegant Italian restaurant, down the street has a salmon nicoise salad that’s $ 13! They do have an outdoor patio area for use in the summer.

Been to the Tavern twice now. Once for takeout with some serious substitutions. Got everything right! The food was fresh, simple, and well cooked. Came back with family for an early dinner and had a wonderful server who was a nice as could be. Again the food was well cooked and such a great price. I highly recommend the veggie burger that is rice based.

As a Bostonian I’m all about getting a bite out of the city(and city prices). Happened to be trotting my way up to Waltham when I Unilocaled up this delicious little gem. The interior has a homely, wood-style tavern feel — albeit a bit on the dark side. I had the pleasure of being blessed with one of New England’s illustrious fair-weather evenings, so we grabbed a table out on the patio. The food was delicious(had myself the buffalo chicken wrap — grilled, not fried, which seems to be a menu rarity nowadays) and the beer selection was moderate yet intriguing. I tried out a local-brewed blonde in a borderline stein-style glass that seemed to have been dropped out of the sky from a airborne european pub. According to both Unilocal and the menu — I should give the $ 11.99 burger and beer flight a try on my next visit. Would visit again for sure.
