Please do not expect a Watham version of Whole Foods, or some kind of specialty grocery store here. Moreover, there is nowhere in this store to get a mani-pedi, Brazilian wax, or massage. This is a spa, which, for those of us who grew up around Boston, is another name for a convenience store. While the Moody Spa isn’t the answer to everyone’s prayers it does just enough… and isn’t that what one wants in a convenience store. There are some very good things about the Moody Spa. The selection of snacks, tonics and necessities is very good, perhaps a bit overpriced, but that’s what one has to expect in a convenience store. They have the lottery and smokes. There’s enough sandwich stuff to feed a decent sized football party. In short, if you need it now, it’s there. Years ago, spas weren’t just small grocery stores, they were as much neighborhood hangouts where locals could get everything they needed and enjoy the best sandwich or small meal around. The Moody Spa isn’t quite as good as some, but it works in a pinch.
