If you need carpentry work done, look no further than Pierre Martin at PM Fine Carpentry in Waltham. He and his able assistant, Tony, have all the basic qualities you want from contractors: availability, honesty, fairness, punctuality, and high-​quality workmanship. They are fun to work with, too. But this is the kicker: everyone else likes them, too, which makes getting the job done quickly much easier. The people in the Building Department like and trust them, thus easy to pull permits. Insurance people like and trust them, so work can sometimes proceed before all their bureaucratic hurdles have been passed, e.g., bids processed with higher-​ups. He also functions as our general contractor and is great at that, too.
Pierre was recommended to me by an architect who had worked with him on the construction of an addition. The work he is doing for me is the complete reconstruction of the second floor of my 1789 house (exterior walls in) and the replacement of my roof structure. My house will need a lot of work in the future, too, and I will never consider anyone other than Pierre Martin and Tony.
