What a great experience! The friendliness and old world charm of this amazing café is enchanting! It’s quite an experience to have great food, people that are friendly and so welcoming ! It reminds of a small town café from my youth. What a treat. Stop in and feel welcome and very at home! Almost forgot the pieces of pie we took home. Cavin had Chocolate soufflé and I had the strawberry cheese cake. It was the perfect ending to a great day out N about in Wannamingo!!!

Area 57 is more than just a small town coffee shop or café. I’m originally from the cities and moved to Wanamingo about 2 years ago and I have said numerous times that I don’t think I could live here without Area 57. From the fried chicken to the southwest chicken supreme sandwich, it’s all good. Don’t even get me started on the desserts. I believe they’re know for the bread pudding. Area 57 hosted my grooms dinner and everyone was so impressed and amazed at the amount of charm this little coffee shop has. The owners and staff are amazing. Even though I’ve been a regular for a long time now it still warms my heart that they know my name. I can’t say enough good things. Stop in on the way to or from Rochester or if you live in the area. :)

For a small town, it was nice to find a place with decent food and good service. While the food wasn’t the best I’ve had, the selection was decent, the prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were acceptable. The majority of the customers were locals, and most seemed to order the daily specials. It seems that there is an email distribution list to receive said daily special each morning. There was ample street parking and plenty of seating inside. All orders are taken at the counter, and the food is brought to the table. I was pleased that ice water and cups were set up by the counter allowing me to quench my thirst while waiting in line to order. If I’m working in town again, this is where I’ll likely eat.

I love coffee and Area 57 just served me of the better iced lattes I’ve ever had. It was shaken in a martini shaker with great smooth espresso. We also tried their Amish sugar cookie(made with powdered sugar vs. granulated sugar) which was fantastic. Both said it reminded us of Christmas! Lots of good looking desserts in the case and a cute seating area for their restaurant. Friendly service at the counter. If you live nearby– try this place ASAP! If you are heading north from Rochester and need a caffeine or sugar(…or both) fix stop here! It is well worth the 4 minute detour.

If you are ever near please try this restaurant out. My wife and I love to stop by on Saturday mornings for coffee and a sandwich. The owner is delightful as well as the rest of the staff. Always relaxing and enjoyable.

Okay, so whenever I come across a gem of a place, I have to write about it. There is not a lot to eat around here, basically a Subway in Zumbrota, but what the area lacks, Area 57 makes up for! I have eaten here nearly every day for the last 2 weeks and I can’t get enough. They always have a great«special» for lunch and the soup, oh, the soup…(I found myself suffering Seinfeld-like flashbacks from the«soup-nazi» episode). Their beer cheese, loaded baked potato, and roasted garlic tomato are fantastic. The sandwiches and paninis are great and the strawberry pie is delish! This is the topper, one day I ordered a full sandwich with the special, but they forgot to include it in my «to-go» bag, so they delivered the remainder to the office I was at just so I would have it. Ryan(owner) and his staff are always friendly and courteous.
