For when you like your morning coffee with a samosa, this is the place. Were it not for their Ethiopian breakfast options served early in the morning and even on holidays, this place would be like any other but they standout with these on the go options! She’ll even warm up your samosa on a cold day. Got that mom and pop feel.

The coffee sucks. I came here because Tryst does not have Wifi on Holidays? Jesus its an ice cube in here and I keep sneezing because of the freakin spices. I literally cant type because its so cold in here. Its good for someone but not me, and the coffee sucks. Bitter and rank.

If you’re looking for a quiet, non-pretentious place to get coffee and a quick lunch, you should come here. Operated by a friendly woman named Helen, she serves great coffee, the most delicious chai, good American food, and delicious Ethiopian cuisine. Sometimes the small items on her menu can seem a bit expensive, but she’s running a small business so I can understand the need to make prices a little bit higher. Still, it’s nothing exorbitant. I come here often just to grab a quick drink, and she’s always happy to make nice conversation.

Best vegetarian Ethiopian food in D.C. Home-made and fresh, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem. We will never go for Ethiopian anywhere else again. The owner is very sweet and takes pride in making her own food. Let’s not forget to mention that one entrée costs $ 10 and feeds two!

I am so happy I found this place. Picked up mail from the UPS and really had to use the bathroom. Popped in here to grab a coffee and use the bathroom. Ended up eyeing hit chai(Indian style) on the menu and ordered it with a spinach samosa. Chai was amazing. Had a little kick to it and was naturally sweet. No added sugar. Spinach samosa was a little oily but not bad at all. Will be back when I am in the area or passing by

If you’re looking for a quiet place with delicious Ethiopian food where you can sit and work, read or chat for hours, this is the place. The service is excellent, the outlets are many and the food is some of the best I’ve had in DC. A perfect spot to spend a whole afternoon.

Excellent Ethiopian food and great service! My wife and I were stoked to discover that our friendly neighborhood coffee shop(with tasty fresh squeezed orange juice) is now serving Ethiopian food. What’s more, the Ethiopian food is fantastic, reasonably-priced with a nice spiciness and depth of flavor. Our frequent trips to Silver Spring for Ethiopian may be reduced. The host is also very welcoming. Will be going here again soon.

Adams Morgan Coffee Shop is your standard neighborhood café. It has a more neighborhood home-ey feel than your standard starbucks or peets. I only had the coffee and a muffin and both were nothing special. Prices were reasonable. Just an «A-OK» experience overall. But I will say, this coffee shop is a good spot to get some light work done. There is free wifi for customers and the noise level is tolerable for doing some light work. So if you just need a quick bite and a place to work, Admo coffee shop will do the trick. Bottom line: Gets the job done.

For respect to the establishment, Generally I prefer to try a place twice before giving a review under 3 stars. Unfortunately, the food was so bad that I would never consider wasting my time or money here again. The 2 stars are given specifically because the place was quiet, the coffee was strong and the woman seemed like a sweet independent business owner. Outside of that, terrible. I ordered a «western omelette» everything bagel which advertises itself as including«tons of veggies». When I asked the woman if she could just make my eggs over-medium and add the grilled veggies on top, she actually refused and told me they«only make scrambled eggs». No one has ever told me they can only serve eggs one way… Refusing to make your patrons food the way they like it is not only bad service, but it’s lazy! To make matters worse, The only veggies that were prevalent in this sandwich were extremely soggy and overcooked tomatoes. If anyone has ever had soggy tomatoes, you know that the mere texture alone is enough to ruin whatever dish or item they are included in. The eggs were bland, the bagel(which tasted like it was a prepackaged Trader Joes or Thomas variety whin you can find in the grocery store) was so wet and soggy that I didn’t even want to finish the sandwich. It cost me $ 6 though, so I forced it down. Perhaps I am slightly jaded and have really high expectations when it comes to bagels and egg sandwiches, coming from New York. In any event, I would not feed a sandwich like that to a stray dog, let alone paying customers. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to sit and drink cheap coffee, this place is for you. If you’re hungry, and haven’t eaten breakfast yet… don’t disappoint yourself. Cook it yourself.

Came here for the Ethiopian food(injera + veg platter). At 9.99 and 11.99 for the vegetarian and lamb option, respectively, this place is basically half as expensive as other Ethiopian options, and it is GOOD. And authentic! One order was more than enough for a friend and me to share, and we got a free extra order of injera when we ran out. The décor could use a bit of an update, but I will be back again and again for the cheap delicious Ethiopian food.

If your sweet grandma opened a coffee shop in her kitchen, it might look a little like Adams Morgan Coffee Shop. It feels a little tucked away even though it’s right on 18th, and the décor is bright and homey– more of a ‘hole in the wall’ sort of feel than the more posh places nearby. The owner(I think she’s the owner, she’s the only one I see working here and she runs the whole place) takes good care of you, the food is tasty and unpretentious and the coffee is on point. I don’t care for crowds, so this place is great for me. There are usually only two or three other people in the place when I’m here, so no fighting for a table, and the wifi is plentiful. Good selection of food; bagels, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc. She recently started serving Ethiopian veggie combos, too. I’m a total newbie to Ethiopian food, but I tried it here for $ 10 and it hit the spot and I’ve got more food than I can eat! The injera is delish and the veggies themselves are very good– not something that knocks your socks off with culinary prowess, but the kind of soul-soothing thing that reminds me of home. Anyway, if you’re in the area and you need to chill or get some work done, this is the optimal spot! Especially if you’re looking to skip the crowds of super-hip people up the street… ;)

Quiet shop with good, strong coffee. I’d totally have this place as a haunt if I were a local. Great refuge from the cold, and the wifi was free, which is always a bonus! The Ethiopian Harrar coffee was very good, if unassumingly presented; it barely warranted a taped on price on the menu. Yum! Friendly service, too.

With trying to get a table at Tryst on a Saturday after 10 am being close to Walmart’s black Friday death foot race, I decided to take a longer walk down 18th st to find this coffee shop we are always driving by. Free wi-fi, great coffee, amazing service, and good food. What else could you ask for? The owner is so sweet and she makes a mean macchiato. The place could definitely use a little more TLC and a fresh coat of paint, but the service, space, and coffee makes up for it. I was there for almost 3 hours and there was a steady stream of new comers and locals. It’s quite and quaint. There’s seating for you to concentrate on your work or day dream as you people watch. This is a great spot for a weekend read and catching up on work.

While the other places in AdMo may be more«trendy»(looking at you Tryst) they are kind of souless. No wifi on weekends because they don’t want people to linger, so busy they don’t care for one person, etc. Well this place is NOT like that. Just good coffee/food/people. Sit all day and work. They will treat you like family. Very nice and amazing owners.(Though if you do go to leech their wife please order something or two. Don’t be an asshole) I always go here before the other trendy places. Because when it comes down to it why are you going to a coffee house on a Saturday? Probably to work and to work you need wifi.

Tried their café mocha as well as hot chai latte and both were pretty good. The food I saw other customers order looked yummy, but I had already eaten lunch. Not the best place to study for extended periods since the seating is quite uncomfortable and cramped. I think this establishment is better for reading the morning paper or to grab a quick breakfast before class/work. Prices are reasonable, however there is a $ 5 minimum for charges(which doesn’t bother me but a heads up for the non cash-carrying populous).

Nice small unassuming coffee shop in Adams Morgan. I went on a Saturday morning and was the only customer. While the place isn’t huge there is still plenty of room if you want to relax and sit for a minute. They also have wifi if you want to take some time and do some work while you’re there. Staff is friendly, I was greeted warmly by the women behind the counter once I entered. They have standard coffee shop items, coffee of course, also breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I went with the sausage and egg bagel. Bagel was fresh, eggs were nicely made, sausage was a bit on the slim slide and appeared to be the microwavable variety. I could see myself returning if I’m in need of a quick breakfast and I’m way too lazy to make it myself.

Not sure how I hadn’t been here in the past, but after walking by every day for a year, finally stopped in for breakfast. The shop is run by a nice woman who takes the orders, makes them, rings everyone up, and brings the food to people. She is friendly and helpful, but that’s not the most efficient way of doing things? There’s indoor seating and one outdoor table. The place itself is a little dirty. Not an issue in general, but there was some sort of jelly on my coffee cup, so that was a bit gross. I ordered a bagel with egg and cheese and an iced coffee, and my friend had a bagel with cream cheese and an orange juice. My bagel was pretty decent for a DC bagel, and the fresh squeezed orange juice is definitely recommended. Also, our food somehow came out to over 16 dollars. I probably should have asked, but, thinking about it afterwards, I have NO idea how that could be so expensive. Not sure if I was overcharged, or if it’s just expensive, but that was annoying. Anyways, I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and round up to 3 stars, because the food itself is good(and the lunch menu looks promising) — I’d probably go elsewhere for breakfast, but wouldn’t be against returning, especially to try lunch. Free wifi.

To be honest, I had never heard of this place. But their sign is bright orange, and they advertise sandwiches. Because I was hungry for a sandwich, this appealed to me. I chose tuna from a list of turkey, tuna, chicken, and veggie. I really wished they had offered a few more options, but who’s to say I wouldn’t have ordered tuna anyway. They also have breakfast sandwiches which looked appealing, but this was dinnertime. I waited a medium amount of time for what I assumed would be a decent sandwich wrapped in paper. Turns out, when I opened the styrofoam box they gave me, there was a sandwich(with lettuce and tomato), chips, and a side salad! And the whole thing only cost like $ 8. While I was very pleased with this outcome, I still wouldn’t rush here again unless I was already on 18th street and realized that I needed a quick sandwich(and chips and side salad).

Came in here yesterday(4⁄29) while it was drizzling. I just needed some caffeine to get my blood moving after the NWM on Sunday. The woman working the counter was really nice. We ordered are drinks to enjoy inside the store. My boyfriend got a frap and it was huge! I think he was happy with it. I forget exactly what I ordered, some form of a cappuccino. It was pretty good — not bitter. For a quick stop, I would gladly continuing to service the local shops.
