I live in the NoMa neighborhood and have been buying weekly groceries from Almaala Farms for the past few months, to see if I could stay on budget and buy local, in-season produce. And yes, it is possible! As an added bonus, it is unbelievably delicious! Case in point: last week, I decided to pick up a few produce items while getting frozen food at Trader Joe’s, but when I tried to eat the TJ’s produce, my body was literally confused… Almaala’s fresh fruits and veggies are flavorful to the point of being scented, while the TJ’s produce was comparatively bland and plastic-smelling. Needless to say, I haven’t since strayed from Almaala Farms.

This farm stand is in the newly opened Union Market in NE, D.C. Love their Muscadine grapes… I buy them every week… it’s cheaper than Whole Foods an/or Harris Teeter.
