Bachman David MD

Dr Bachman is — without a doubt — tops in his field. Had this forum ( Unilocal) been available some 28 years ago, I would have posted my comments at that time. Dr Bachman is extremely knowledgable, well rounded, very caring, and most importantly a physician with a superb bedside manner. You really don’t get much better than this!
I am just very sorry that I did not have the opportunity to thank him prior to this posting… even though he has always known and will forever remember.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Bachman for 10 years, and dread the day he retires. He reminds me of the small-​town ophthalmologist I saw growing up: old school, but meticulous, knowledgeable, and no nonsense. As other reviewers noted, he takes the time to discuss what he’s doing, as well as recommended treatments.
I tried another optometrist in the DC area before Dr. Bachman; the other guy recommended laser eye surgery instead of contacts. When I asked Dr. Bachman for a second opinion, he recommended against it because of dry eye problems, and talked through the pros and cons with me. He does not provide glasses and has no interest in selling patients anything, which is refreshing.
(I also witnessed him being super nice to his elderly mother in the office when he took her out to lunch. This says something about his character as well!)

I have been a patient of Dr. Bachman now for over five years. He is without a doubt the most knowledgeable ophthalmologist I have seen. Not only does he know his stuff, but he takes the time to explain things to you as patient.

A superb Ophthalmologist. Sharp. Quick. Straight to the point.
Offers thorough recommendations with no nonsense. Honesty. Integrity.
Reminds me a lot of Dr. Neil Raskin in SF:
in his bedside manner.

I just came back from Dr. Bachman and I need to say how great he is. Definitely a caring doctor who takes the time to give you the attention needed. He likes to read aloud what he writes in your chart so you know what he is writing. I always have a great experience at his office. If your eyes are nearly as broken as mine, Dr. Bachman is your guy!
