Cocktails, beers, nibblies and fresh air. I like all of these things, and Bourbon has them. Bet it a plate of frickles or an elegant Old Fashioned, you’ll be satisfied and relaxed, because it’s good grub, good drinks and great service. I have yet to be inside Bourbon because their patio is so charming and welcoming, I can’t get past that. Nestled in on a row of great shops and restaurants on Wisconsin Ave across from a large park, it’s a really lovely place to sit, chat, imbibe and relax.

Tried to call here to make a reservation for a large group of attendees. No one answered the phone. Additionally, the website only lists information for the Adams Morgan location.

The food is great, service is always spotty/nonexistent during peak times. Try their fried chicken, you won’t regret it! Come prepared and patient

Great neighborhood bar with a wide range of bourbon and whiskey and delicious food to go with it. The servers are friendly and the bartenders Ryan and mike are extremely knowledgable and can tell you just about anything when it comes to your drink of choice. Definitely stop in if your in glover park.

I used to love this place. Right down the street from my apartment, it was super convenient, had a great happy hour, great staff, and delicious food. Well, that’s no longer the case. They changed the food, and it’s only meh. Staff isn’t that great anymore(ignores customers half the time I’m there). And, happy hour definitely isn’t happy anymore — it’s super expensive, and just not worth it. One specific story: I went for brunch and when they didn’t have what I ordered anymore, they decided to bring me something completely different without even telling me. When I changed the order to something I actually would eat, it took over 30 minutes — for a grilled cheese. I think they have a new owner, and all the changes have been negative. Bring back the old Bourbon!

I went to Bourbon for the first time 2 weekends ago and can say with absolute certainty that my first visit will be my last. I went with a close girlfriend of mine, a friend who also happens to be about 5 feet tall. Upon entering, our«server» offered to show us to our table where a group of friends were already waiting. As we walked to our table, the server turned to my 5′ friend and offered her a high chair or booster seat – «whichever she preferred.» I thought I had mistakenly overheard him, so when we arrived at our table, I turned to my friend to clarify. She told me that in fact he had offered her a choice between a booster seat and high chair. She was obviously embarrassed by his comment that was both inappropriate and completely out of the blue. When he came back to take our order, I asked if he had remembered my friend’s high chair in a half joking, half confrontational manner. He proceeded to ask if I would also need a high chair, and a kid’s menu to make my decision. He then turned to the rest of the people at our table and asked, «Where’d you find this one? West Virginia?» I was appalled, and informed him that I was in fact from Ohio. I tried to brush it off and not let one person have a negative effect on my night. A few moments later, I was tapped on the shoulder. I turned around, and a man I didn’t know said«Someone told me to give this to you» and handed me a CANOFDOGFOOD. The gentleman motioned to our server. It took me a few moments to process what was happening – but I realized that our server had handed someone else in the bar a can of dog food to give to me as some sort of insult. Never in my life have I been treated in such a disrespectful manner by a complete and total stranger; nonetheless, our«server.» I took the can of dog food to the bartender, and told him what had happened. The bartender responded by asking what I had done to provoke such a response, and informed me that certainly our waiter’s actions were not unfounded. I felt like I was in the Twilight zone – all I could think was«what in the hell is going on here!!!» Here I am, a 25-year-old female out on a Saturday night, it’s 8:00, I’ve hardly finished my first beer and I’m sitting at a bar in Georgetown being served a CANOFDOGFOODANDNOONESEVENSKIPPING A BEAT?! I repeated to the bartender again, «I’m sorry, maybe you didn’t hear me correctly. Your server… just served me… a CANOFDOGFOOD.» The bartender ignored me, and walked away. At this point, I was so angry. I decided I needed to leave, so I stood there until I could get the bartender’s attention, close my tab, and leave the bar. I left visibly upset by what had happened. On my way out, the man at the door asked if I was okay. I told him what had happened. He was the only person the entire night who listened and cared about how I was treated at their establishment. He told me that it wasn’t the first time this particular server had«taken things too far» and that he would personally deal with him. Honestly, I am baffled and still trying to make sense of my experience. I’ve gone over that night many times in my mind and tried to think of what I did that would warrant that type of response – and I’m left with nothing. The fact that Bourbon has had previous issues with this particular staff member yet continues to employ him as a representative of their company is beyond me. I intend to contact the local newspaper, report them to the better business bureau, and reach out through social media to ensure that, despite raving reviews, people understand the culture of Bourbon and what is deemed«acceptable» behavior and treatment of their customers.

We recently enjoyed a few hours here, from opening through happy hour until almost 8pm. Our food was perfectly good: tomato soup nice and spicy; wings juicy; sweet potato fries crisp outside and fluffy inside, with yummy garlic aioli; moist and savory BBQ sliders. And if you come to a restaurant named«Bourbon» for the sliders, either you’re doing it wrong, or they are. Writing as a former bartender, I’m not sure I can recall ever being taken care of as well as we were at Bourbon. With almost three hundred whiskeys(and whiskys, etc.) on the menu – and a few off it that we were introduced to – and supremely knowledgable, friendly, forthcoming staff, the evening was a delight. Our bartender and server took the time to listen to us and get to know our tastes, which enabled a series of wonderfully and thoughtfully constructed cocktails and shots. I’m a reasonable tipper but Bourbon’s service inspired me to 25% on a substantial check. It was that good. We’ll certainly be back.

This is my place to relax after work or after a long day of doing nothing. I have a goal, to try every bourbon on the wall. Mike, I like to consider him my personal connesior of bourbon, has my tasting list memorized and always remembers that I love sriracha with my tots. I just walk in and he knows what I should be drinking next. Jared, the manager, is a living bourbon encyclopedia. Anything you want to know about any bourbon, he can give you the entire history. He’s also a pretty cool guy that loves to talk and hand out fist bumps to everyone at the bar. Nam, is the perfect mix of both of these guys. He’s knows what you should drink, and can tell you why you want to drink it. He’s sarcastic as hell, and I approve. There’s a reason I’m the«dutchess» of Bourbon. Not because I’m an alcoholic, but because the guys behind the bar know what they’re talking about and make it the best neighborhood bar here in Glover. Keep on kicking ass a Bourbon, see ya tomorrow! XOXO

When I lived in Glover Park this place was a stone’s throw away from my apartment and I spent many a happy hour dining and drinking with friends inside. The place has a wonderful atmosphere and a welcoming and friendly staff who remember regulars. The mood is low key and during the warmer months you can sit outside and watch young people make asses of themselves at the bar next door. The food is tasty and there are some options. Tater tots with hot sauce are a must, and check out Wine Wednesdays when they have half off bottles.

So I just want to say that the purpose of this evening was 5 star! I would even give it another star for the name: An Evening with Pappy. It ends up being a 2.5 star, although I rounded up to 3 because the sliders and fries We ended up drinking 5DIFFERENTPAPPYVANWINKLES! Extremely life altering for those of you who are true bourbon fans. We had the 12,15,18, 20 and the 23 and I must say that the 23 was my absolute favorite HANDS down! I don’t even know where to begin with the smoothness of the thing. Lawd a mercy! But the organization actual event itself definitely took away from the awesomeness of the event if that makes sense. The owners/organizers/bartenders were AMAZINGLY nice, but they didn’t know how to prepare for the influx of people that attended. Everyone wants to get their hands on some Pappy, so to not«anticipate» the potential popularity of this event confused me. We arrived EARLY, as in well before the masses and still were too late to consume the 23(in the first go round). Had there been a ticket, or process to enter, it may have been streamlined a bit better. All in all, no complaints, although rocky at the start, the night turned out to be amazing and we cannot wait until they do another just like it.

I live around the corner and this is my go-to neighborhood hangout. It can get full on the weekends(good) but there’s always room on a weeknight when you want a burger or sandwich. Their whiskey selection is fantastic and the bar tenders are very knowledgable and willing to guide you. There’s always good beer on tap and the food is great. I get the lamb burger a lot. The atmosphere is good. It’s dim inside but not too dark. The sidewalk patio is nice in the summer and there’s a more private patio in back. The upstairs is more restaurant than bar.

3+ Went in Saturday evening-either before the maddening crowd or this is how it always is. They have a front outdoor patio– not my kind of seating so didn’t mind the indoors. Patio area was full, too. Chill ambiance, cool music, sports on the telly if you’re interested. Good cocktail menu, was a bit difficult to decide, so I went rogue. I was not disappointed. Friend ordered a mojito($ 10) and I had a Sidecar($ 12). The bartender was both informative and amiable. He seemed to really enjoy making us his ‘creations’. I ordered a grilled cheese and upgraded to shoestring fries($ 7, $ 2). Both were yum. Will I return? Good service, loungy music, nice spot. More than likely.

Bad food. Horrible(ill-informed, rude, stupid) service). Overpriced drinks. Bad décor. Bad patrons(inconsiderate, overly loud, tools). If you’re an inconsiderate overly loud tool, this is the place for you! Enjoy.

I was super confused by the atmosphere of this place when I went, but it was a strange«Yes… I am going to feel this out» feeling that prompted me to stay. It was around 11 on a Saturday and there was about 12 people there. All couples(and interracial… I see you Bourbon!!!) I was shocked that me and my sister were there for 15 minutes before someone took our order. It was even more shocking when I made eye contact with 2 separate bartenders and one guy who cleans there. When I did put in my order(with a young lady who was loving the crew and the crew loved her) it was wrong. She was really sweet but moved really slowly. She had her back to us a lot of time(and was dancing with the bartender(who loved himself and was kissin up on her) Then at 12, they blasted the music which caused 8 people to leave. Luckily it was my jams and they were bu-las-tin. Even with the hip hop, and wood grain bar, it was still kind of weird. It was obvious one bartender was a fed up with another. And the waitress was the only lady there which made the dudes thirsty on all the levels. And no one cared about the two girls in the corner that didn’t have a drink. I could see the potential in a place like this but the uppity factor is simply ridiculous. I’ll go back to test is out again, but I hope I have a different experience. I love bourbon as a drink and I’d love to enjoy this place.

A night to myself in DC led me to check out Bourbon. I was staying at the Georgetown Hotel and Conference Center. I was able to walk to this spot in less than 15 minutes. I love whiskey. I was intrigued by the name and the reviews. This place has a full bar — so if you are not a whiskey/bourbon person — no worries. I grabbed a seat at the bar and decided to treat this bar as a place to educate myself. I ordered a flight and began my journey. Tasting great bourbons and enjoying conversation with a very knowledgeable bartender. I also tried whiskey drinks(Bufala Negra was incredible) and the food. The fried chicken that was on special wasn’t that special. The biscuit with it was actually terrible. But the gravy served with the mashed potatoes was life changing. I nearly wept it was so good. I tore into the chicken dunking each bite into that gravy and mash and all was right in the world. The bread pudding is out of this world. So good. I will definitely be back next time I’m in DC.

This place is a hit or miss with seating, its seat yourself. It has typical bar food and also good drinks. I have never been really disappointed with the food here. The lamb burger is always cooked well and has a great taste. Imagine the flavors of a gyro in burger form! I’ve never had any complaints about the burger. I also tried the chili mac — it was pretty good the noodles were not too soft and the chili offered a nice balance. Warning though — it is heavy and rich so you may want to share since it is a hefty size. The mixed drinks here are always good. I especially like the mint julep It comes in a stainless steel cup which makes it fun.

Three and a half stars. Lacking external signage, but they’re part of the business cluster by the crosswalk. At least the address lettering«2348» is clear over their glass door. Had I done my research, I would’ve gone for a grilled sandwich. Instead I got the Cajun hush puppies, though there wasn’t anything particular Cajun about them. Best dipped hot and eaten warm, as the whipped honey butter eventually solidified and the dense cornmeal became inedible at room temp. Printed beverage menu was different from the one listed online. I had a White Lie(too sweet after stirring the liqueurs into the Allagash White), and a Manhattan up(sweet enough to wish I’d had it on the rocks). Even the mint julep was dusted with powdered sugar. Call me weird but I prefer granulated in my drinks. Nothing wrong with their beer and whiskey options. Service next visit was scarce. BPT uninspiring but their potatoes are good drunk grub, tots and curlies. Chili left much to be desired, and vegetarian version was mostly cheese sprinkled garbanzo beans. Veggie sides all sautéed with garlic and butter. Skip the tinny chicken soup. Drink like a purist, eat elsewhere. After how much I loved their second location in AdMo, I wanted to appreciate this place more… but I left wishing I’d stuck with my prepackaged tried and trues.
