There are much better places for shoe repair in D.C. I took a pair here simply for a quick shine, and his price was too high and the wait time too long. Plus, the polish he used seemed rather cheap for what I paid. Do yourself a favor and take the time to go elsewhere.

The owner of this cramped hardware /​shoe repair store could be charitably described as eccentric — the reality is he is downright unpleasant. I will assume his infrequent visitors are not the Unilocal-​type, and leave it at that.

Not much to say BUT… the place had just what I needed and as I walked in the gentleman asked me what I was looking for. I told him I needed some paint for outdoor furniture. He asked what color then guided me to the shelf and helped me to pick it out.
It’s a small place but I’ve been back a few times for items here and there. So far so good. No attitude. It’s just a hardware store and I don’t expect the seas to part because I need screws

The guy was not that nice. I still left my 2 pair of shoes. I needed new soles. Overpriced and I was not happy with quality. First and I think it will be the last time.

Not good. I took 2 pairs of heels/​dressy flats to be repaired here. The guy said he couldn’t help me with one pair. The other pair had a couple of problems and also just needed a polish. He said the only thing he could do was fix the heel. So basically, they only replace worn down heels here. Service was bad. He said he’d replace the heel with the same color as the original heel (tan), but it came back black and he said that was all he had to fit. I don’t buy it and I’m certainly never going back.

I took two pairs of shoes to be re-​heeled. The store is very cramped (on purpose) — every inch of space is used for items that are sold. (The reminds me of small town hardware stores growing up).
The price was very expensive for my shoe re-​heeling. The craftmanship was fine but the shoes were returned to me slightly dirty (I got home and needed to wipe them down with a wet cloth). They got the job done but I will go elsewhere in the future.
