They catered a breakfast office party at my office once, ITWASDELICIOUS! Fantastic coffee and croissants and fresh fruits were superb. Sadly, they are, as of today I believe, closed. Ici Urban Bistro is taking their place.

Came here for Restaurant Week and had a pleasant dinner. It was not very crowded at all and I enjoyed the space we had, the atmosphere and décor. I love the huge purple wall with paintings in the back. But what do you know? Café 15 closes in about a week, so this was its last RW ever. The menu was predictably limited; there were two options for each course. I had the mahi mahi and my boyfriend had venison. The food was good, but as Boyfriend put it, «cookie-cutter upscale,» meaning, good presentation, good service, but the food itself was nothing to write home about. To take Café 15’s place will be a bistro-type establishment called Ici. I would come back to Sofitel to try it, if only as an excuse to go to Le Bar afterwards.

A friend and I went to Café 15 for Restaurant Week. We’d read a review in the Post that the writer had a poor experience there, but we figured it was still a good opportunity to dine there, since neither of us had tried it before. We went in with staunched expectations, which were at least met, or marginally exceeded. The décor is of the place is pretty nice. There’s low lighting, and the design of the dining area is relatively open, with a few columns to break up the space, and some alcoves off to the side where other diners were in booths. We were seated at a corner table, with both us of generally facing the rest of the dining room — an ideal place to people-watch. The service was impeccable. As we were seated, the hostess placed napkins across our laps for us before presenting the menu. Throughout the meal, the wait staff were respectful and ubiquitously present when needed(clearing plates, refilling water, etc.) but unobtrusive. The Restaurant Week menu was severely limited, which was somewhat of a disappointment. We both ended up getting the same appetizer and entrée, a tian of spinach with tomato confit and veal shank over creamy risotto, respectively. The tomato confit was a little overpowering in my opinion — somewhat covering the flavor of the spinach. To me, it tasted basically like pouring tomato sauce over boiled spinach. Bonus points for a beautiful presentation, though. The veal was braised(I assume) excellently, virtually flaking apart with a fork. The flavor was somewhat lacking, I thought. My cohort felt it was a bit salty. The entire dish was covered in a light red wine sauce that had virtually no flavor. Dessert was entirely worth the trip, however. She got the amandine cake, and I got the fruit tart. Both of them were both beautiful to look at, and tasted delectable. With just the perfect consistency, and both desserts were nominally sweet. Perfect, when paired with the glass of dessert wine we shared. All in all, a pleasant experience in terms of the ambiance and service. One might assume that their Restaurant Week offering was sub-par compared to their regular offerings. I probably wouldn’t bother returning, unless for a drink at the posh bar across the hall, or for a good dessert.

A very well rounded restaurant with beautiful décor in the Sofitel Hotel. They serve a number of traditional and unique dishes and the service is superb. I’ve never been displeased with something I’ve ordered there. It’s a fun place to go for lunch if you’re looking to be pampered. The food is excellently prepared and they aim to please.
