I visited the truck located on Mass Ave yesterday and I’m sad to say that I was so disappointed. The cookies were not as good as the ones I had during my first visit. I learned from the guy in the truck(new guy from California) that there are several of these trucks now. Sadly, all of the trucks are not created equally. These cookies were not nearly as good as the ones I ordered from the truck on GW’s campus, which I rated in my previous review. I ordered 6 cookies yesterday: 2 snickerdoodles, 1 peanut butter, 1 Nutella, 1 oatmeal raisin and 1 ginger molasses. Both snickerdoodles, as well as the ginger molasses cookie, were undercooked. And, the ginger molasses had no ginger favor at all. So disappointed…

i’ve had them multiple times and the first few times were amazing. lately they seem to have slacked off on the customer service, the guy always seems to be annoyed were there, and the cookies just aren’t as good. The ice cream seems to have frost/ice in it, almost as if its gotten freezer burn. i really miss the cookie truck of summer 2015 :(

Cute little place! Excellent deal for the price. Tried peanut butter, funfetti, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and red velvet(that was the cookie of the day so it’s not always on the menu, it was a nice surprise since that’s my favorite!) Perfectly baked, soft and all tasted great. They also sell milk and ice cream, which are both good pairings with cookies. My one complaint would be that they weren’t hot, but nonetheless would return.

Heard about the food truck decided to check them out. Had the chocolate chip cookie and Vanilla bean ice cream! Definitely, hitting the gym after this! Plus the music was a throw back to 90’s hip hop. Biggie, Total, Blackstreet! I see more Captain Cookie and Mr. Milkman in my future

I used to work in the building where they set up their brick-and-morter shop(2000 Pennsylvania). This place was pretty irresistible on late work nights and was probably the reason I needed a standing desk. They stay open pretty late(midnight I believe) for the GWU students but this is a godsend too for those of us that work in law :) They do a stand-out snickerdoodle, probably the best I’ve ever had. Sugary, buttery, cinnamon-y, just the right amount of chewy with a little bit of bite. I also like their chocolate chip. I have to say that I was disappointed with the nutella. It didn’t really taste like nutella at all, and had a weird icky aftertaste from too much cocoa powder. The ice cream sandwiches are so indulgent and a must-try for your cheat day from your diet. Overall, would recommend.

Where can I begin? After coming here for the first time on a VERY full stomach after brunch; I somehow managed to find enough room in my full belly to try this place out. Holy Cow it was DELICIOUS! I wish the molasses cookies were a little softer, but other than that-this has got to be the best dessert place ever!

Some might not be a fan of the ultra chewy and gooey cookie, but I definitely am and can’t wait to get my hands on some more of these. Cookies are very reasonably priced at $ 1.25 each, and there are other add ons you can get it you’re really craving dessert. I opted for a chocolate chip cookie and a Nutella cookie. The chocolate chip was piping hot and amazing, but very messy and gooey. The Nutella was also delicious and had a hint of molasses. I hope there are some more varieties for me to try next time!

Very reasonably priced and tasty! It’s a cute little shop to get some ice cream and cookies from. I did not try the cookies but they didn’t seem especially different than normal, but the ice cream was good. Tried the coffee flavor(delicious) and the cookies and cream(the cookie chunks were great and I wished there was more mixed in). Simple and good!

Cookies are absolutely delicious and chewy. I’ve tried both the oatmeal and ginger molasses cookie. Both are great but the oatmeal is phenomenal. I’m not a fan of the ice cream sandwiches, but for 2 homemade cookies with a heaping serving of ice-cream for $ 4, you can’t beat it. It’s the ice cream that I didn’t care for. Next time I’ll opt for milk instead of ice cream, or just opt for the cookies!

Way too close to my office! So glad I randomly found it after going to lunch in the Shops at 2000 Penn. The confetti and plain chocolate chip are THE best!!! Perfect if you craving a sweet snack in the Foggy Bottom/GW area.

I’ve visited Captain Cookie twice now and I’ve loved it each time. I’ve had their pumpkin and pecan cookies with vanilla ice cream. The pumpkin cookie was pretty puffy, lush, and moist. If you love pumpkins, you’ll love this cookie. The pecan cookie was pretty thin in comparison but still great — rich and sweet. Unfortunately, both of these cookies were specials but hopefully they’ll be added to their regular rotation of cookies.

I don’t have much of a sweet-tooth anymore, but these cookies might be the exception. These are probably the best cookies that I have ever had that didn’t come out of my mother’s kitchen. And the staff are so friendly and accommodating. I originally tried these cookies at a friend’s wedding, and decided I needed to get a cookie cake the next week for another friend of mine — who is a huge cookie fan. Captain Cookie delivered the very next morning, and they actually drew an adorable raccoon face on the cake in icing for her! She absolutely loved it! Awesome cookies. Awesome staff. Will be tracking the trucks from now on for sure!

I have been following Captain Cookie and the Milk Man on Twitter for months, and each day, I see that they are located near my home but since I’m at work during the day, it’s been tough to try their products. Lo and behold, my sister and I happened to be walking by L’Enfant on Monday when I remembered to look out for the food truck as I remembered they usually tweet they are there. Bam! Spotted the truck and proceeded to stroll up, thankful to have the opportunity to try the cookies and get ice cream, which we had been craving. Even better was the«Build Your Own Ice Cream Sandwich» sign. For $ 4, we each ordered the same sandwich with a Nutella cookie and a chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream. Also, at $ 4, it’s one of the more cost efficient ice cream sandwich concoctions in the area. I loved the smell of freshly baked cookies, and we could tell from the way the guys looked, they were baking, and it was hot. That said, our Nutella cookies were slightly cracked, and the ice cream melted quickly.(A combination of the oven and hot temperatures exacerbated the ice cream melting.) We were happy we got spoons and were happy to find nearby seating in front of the Department of Education otherwise it would have been a mess. As for the cookies themselves, delicious. Ice cream was good, but the three stars is for the obvious A-OK reason. Not yet a fan but would come back to try more.

*shakes fist in the air* DAMNYOU, CAPTAINCOOKIE! Look, I’m supposed to be on a low carb, no sugar diet. My doc gave me some tough love during my last physical(Ok, let’s be real, he gave me mostly tough and zero love) and told me that I’m thisclose to the D. Not that D; rather, it’s the other, not-fun one that ends with«iabetes» I’d been doing so well. So well. Until today. Today, I made the mistake of going outside on this beautiful day, just to stretch my legs. And what happens? You show up with your delicious truck of sugary tastiness. I caved just like those sand pits that little kids dig on the beach when the water washes over it. I broke very much like a wet paper bag holding a shitton of groceries under a driving rain. I succumbed exactly like a swooning Regency Romance heroine when the hero kisses her under the rose arbor after a night of dancing the goddamned quadrille. I bought three cookies and goddamn these were good. 1) Chocolate Chip: these are my kind of cookie. A little underbaked so it’s soft and smooshy and is so full of buttery sugary deliciousness that when I put it on a paper towel, it immediately turned translucent thanks to all the buttery goodness on the cookie. I loved it. Not hideously sweet. I honestly don’t know how the chocolate chip will stand up to ice cream sandwich action though, because these are so un-firm. 2) Peanut Butter: YES. I would eat all the peanut butter cookies you have made, Captain Cookie.(though…it could use a little more peanuty tastiness. Or a sprinkling of salt on the top so you get that salty peanut thing going.) 3) Snickerdoodle: This was pretty good, but prefer the peanut butter and choc chip. It was surprisingly bland — pretty much a sugar cookie with the merest whisper of cinnamon. Maybe I should have gotten the ginger molasses. In my defense***, I didn’t eat all three in one go. I wanted to, but I resisted. I hate to say it, Captain Cookie, but I’m gonna need to avoid you. You’re so fucking delicious; you’re a temptation I have to run from. But right now? Goddamn, these are some fine ass cookies. I salute you, Captain Cookie. ***I have no defense for my gluttony. My doctor is gonna kill me.

Was visiting a friend in DC and she recommended this place for late night dessert after we visited the monuments. I love ice cream and cookies, so I had a feeling I would love her ice cream sandwich recommendation. The ambiance is really cute with a super hero theme and then an upper seating area. They had a great selection of cookies(about 10 plus special), from classics like chocolate chip, oatmeal and snickerdoodle to Nutella, Funfetti and more. Ice cream flavors are limited to around 6 everyday. The have classics(vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies & cream) and others like blueberry, red raspberry, salted caramel and more. I had an ice cream sandwich with one Nutella cookie and one Funfetti with cookies & cream in the middle. Ice cream was DELICIOUS and cookies were chewy enough handle the ice cream along with it. Funfetti tasted a little underdone in the middle and Nutella could have had a bit more chocolate flavor, but nothing too bad to complain about. Definitely recommend it for late night sweets!

Consistently amazing!!! This was my third time visiting the food truck(I’d previously visited when the truck was in Reston, VA in Aug 2014 and at the Taste of DC food festival back in Oct 2014). It stopped at the Red, White, and Brew festival at The Block near DC’s Chinatown when I was there for an outdoor event recently and I absolutely loved it. It gets even better with each visit! This time, I ordered a Funfetti cookie and LOVED it! I absolutely adore sugar cookies with sprinkles on top and the Funfetti was perfect, considering that I don’t like chocolate or peanut butter and the only other cookie I eat at this truck is the snickerdoodle. My fiancé ordered a chocolate and peanut butter cookie and loved it as well. We will continue visiting whenever we see it!

I tried a ice cream cookie sandwich while at NoMa movie night. The cookie was a bit hard at first so I proceeded to just eat the ice cream with a fork(they ran out of spoons so I had to make do). The vanilla ice cream was actually smooth, creamy, not too sweet and overly yummy. After a while my chocolate chip cookie and ginger molasses cookie softened. Both really good but not mind blowing. I would definitely stand in line again if there were 5 – 10 people ahead of me because they move fairly quickly but any longer than that It’s worth waiting for on a different day when the line isn’t wrapped around the corner like I saw them at another food truck festival.

This truck wrecks havoc on my diet. I hate this truck! Darn delicious cookies, and if you hear that they are out of a cookie but have a batch in the oven, just wait. That is when the magic happens. Hot, gooey, and absolutely addictive. I have to restrain myself from pigging out on a half dozen, and usually get the two cookies and milk deal. I’ve tried all of the cookies, but I’m partial to the classic standby, chocolate chip. Everytime I walk by this truck, the cookies just scream«BUYME!». And I almost always do…

I like cookies. I like chocolate chip cookies. This place makes really good chocolate chip cookies. What more do you want? I went on a Sunday. The shop was mostly empty, and the two friendly proprietors occupied themselves decorating cookie cakes. I ordered a deconstructed ice cream sandwich– two chocolate chip cookies and a vanilla milkshake. Because things were so slow, I assumed that the cookies had probably been sitting for awhile. I was wrong. They were warm and fresh; the perfect gooey compliment to one of the best vanilla shakes that I’ve had in DC. It’s a little out of my way, but I will be making the return trip soon.

Honestly, the cookies are not that special. But what make Cap. Cookie a hit is the possibility of delivery, the cute store, and the really really really friendly staff that greet you every time you stop by. My boyfriend loves sweets more than he loves video games, cars, and maybe even back massages. So when we found out that Cap. Cookie opened a store near his apartment in Foggy Bottom we walked right over. He loved his ice cream sandwich, made with vanilla ice cream and two reg. chocolate chip cookies. The cookies may or may not have been warm; he cannot remember because the cookies and ice cream was gone in four minutes. I ordered a oatmeal raisin cookie(just one, no ice cream) and was disappointed. But to be fair, I think my oatmeal raisin cookies are THEBEST so really there is no competition. I probably should have ordered the nutella cookie because it sounded like magic. The tiny Cap Cookie store has a cute sitting area above the counter which I have yet to use, but I like that it looks out on I St. Oh, and they deliver until 2am, and they are open until 2am. And that is just perfect on cold nights when you get back from the bar and all you want is a warm chocolate chip cookie and milk.

This is the best thing that’s happened in Foggy Bottom in a long time. What’s so lovely about Captain Cookie is that the cookies are almost always served warm, which makes them delightfully gooey.(Extra points for genuinely friendly employees, and an efficient operation — I like knowing I can dash in, get my cookies, and be at my next meeting a few minutes later). Despite my own love for chocolate chip, I actually think the very best cookies here are the snickerdoodles(somehow, the chocolate chip doesn’t have that rich buttery taste I love), and the ice cream sandwich is obscenely large. So — next time you’re in the area, stop by for a warm, delightful snickerdoodle cookie. You’ll be glad you did.

The cookies are phenomenal. A work colleague sent over a few dozen of their standard chocolate chip cookies and everyone in my department was blown away. We actually thought that the colleague had baked these cookies himself(he is a baker). I’ve tasted a lot of cookies at different shops and bakeries and these are by far the best. The cookies are thick, slightly crunchy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. They are also loaded with big chunks of chocolate. One of these cookies is probably the size of two cookies at other places, but that did not stop me from eating three. Slightly warming them in the microwave makes them even more perfect. I look forward to trying more of the cookies and the famed ice cream sandwiches.

First of all, how can you not like the name? Second, this is realistically an honorary location to be in. Come on, it’s legendary within GWU. Third, the cookies really are amazing. Well let me be a little more specific. The cookies are really good. Some are much better than others. To be honest, cookies that I typically wouldn’t get/aren’t my favorite, I loved! I had a really long, difficult and exhausting week so my wonderful bf decided he would stop into Captain Cookie to pick me up a treat. Unfortunately for my waistline, he ended up picking up about a dozen cookies. There was everything from the Nutella cookie to the typical chocolate chip to peanut butter and then oatmeal raisin. Anyways, I had the opportunity to try a number of them and I came to the conclusion that some are better than others. *Hear me out, while these are never normally my favorites types of cookies, I highly recommend the peanut butter and oatmeal raisin

For MONTHS I have known that Captain Cookie and the Milk Man comes close to home during lunch time on Tuesdays(11:20 — 2:30 at the Portrait Gallery), but somehow all summer I’ve missed the chance to try it out. Although yesterday the temperature dropped just enough to proclaim the arrival of fall, I was determined to finally overcome all scheduling obstacles and try one of these decadent creations. Here’s the deal. You can come here and get cookies(and milk, if you’d like!) or be truly brave and get an ice cream sandwich. Two cookies of your choice(check the board to see what’s available) and a generous scoop of Trickling Springs Creamery(ummm yessssss please) ice cream inbetween. At $ 4, it’s a crazy steal(considering that just one cookie alone at Panera will run you over $ 2). And although I consider myself to have quite a ridiculous sweet tooth, and a hearty appetite, but I will say this was almost too much for me to handle in one sitting. It was fresh, it was delicious, it was comfort to the extreme. I got the chocolate chip cookie on top, which was SOGOOD — the chocolate chips were large and plentiful and melty — perfection. For the bottom cookie I opted for the Nutella cookie, which, sadly was a bit of a disappointment. It was much flatter than the chocolate chip cookie(and larger, so it made for disproportionate sandwich — and I realize symmetry isn’t a deal breaker with ice cream sammies, but it contributed to some extra mess) and just didn’t wow me. Nothing about it screamed — or even whispered — NUTELLA. If I’d get one again(and I will on the next warm Tuesday!) I’d probably split it with a friend, or just get a cookie or two. I’d love to try some of the other varieties, as I know they have some really creative options in the rotation!
