Want the deliciously deconstructed, sexy androgynous, edgy-cool clothes that can be best described as Alexander Wang meets rock and roll… Yes? Then get out of J Crew and check out Caramel which zeroes in on this very specific look. Staying true to the aforementioned androgyny, you’re more likely to find a neutral color palette here and there is a distinctive lounge-y feel to most of their clothes. This could very well be a solution to tone down uptight work wear or add a little bit of an edge to more laid back weekend clothes. I do think that their menswear is actually a little better stocked than their options for women, so if any of you dudes care about your clothes enough to look for something that’s a little diffferent, then you might end up finding something interesting here. The unfortunate part is that the biker chick(chic?) look doesn’t really work for me, but I’m hoping that a few more visits to this boutique might change that. And ultimately it helps support my question to women in DC; Why wear frumpy button downs when you can pick up lovely silk blouses and deconstructed zipper jackets at about the same price?

There wasn’t enough that was special in this store to appeal to me, though I wonder if that might improve with the season and fashion trends. Some of the clothes looked better made than similar items I’ve noticed at other downtown boutiques, but the price tags were still a bit higher than I felt the garmets deserved. I think it’s the curse of the boutique — too much overhead means you have to charge a whole lot more for a garmet that really isn’t worth the money.

I’ve been shopping here for 3 or 4 years now and absolutely love the fashion that Caramel has to offer. I have shirts and jackets, slacks, and jeans that still stun people when I wear them. Yes, 4 years and countiing and the compliments on my shirts never seem to cease. I love it when people ask, «Where did you get that?» When it comes to fashion, I go to Caramel first. Let me also add I like the passion that drives this business. The owner is a gentle spirit that loves what she does. She also loves the communtiy and shows it through giving to local charities. She supports local designers, jewelry makers, and artisans. She welcomes non-profit and charitable events and uses her shop to aid the cause. Shop Caramel and help the communtiy too!

I saw a dress in the window. I went in. There was actually a «trunk show» going on. Wow! My first! I stayed to check out all of the cool clothes, purses, and accessories. OMG they were expensive! So was the dress I saw in the window. Plus it didn’t come in my size. But how often do you have the opportunity to meet the designer in person? It felt great to know the clothing line was all organic cotton and re-purposed leather and I can appreciate the price point. However, I will have to write a line item into my own budget for goods like that. I’m definitely a fan of Caramel Boutique. Next time I stop in, I hope to make a purchase?

I stopped in this boutique on a recommendation from a friend after I had tired of the typical mall shops and department stores. This store offers high quality and fashionable clothing at very reasonable prices. The owner, Sarah, is very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to help me pick out things for my wife. She also knows men’s fashion well and I was impressed by the organic offerings she sells. My wife was very pleased with the dress and shorts I purchased for her and the shirt I bought for myself. I will definitely return when I’m in town. Caramel is a great little store.

I’ve been meaning to check this place out and I’m glad I finally did because this place has really cute clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, etc. They have a lot of that soft organic bamboo clothing that is just super awesome. And unlike some other boutiques in this area, the sales racks here are actually affordable.

Cute shop with cute jewelry and clothing. However, I felt the clothes weren’t quite hip enough for me. There were two dresses in there that I might come back and try on because they would be cute and unique looking for a Bay Area wedding I’m attending in the fall. They also have men’s clothing and I really wanted to pick up a pair of cufflink for my mate.

My favorite Washingtonian told me he’d spotted a shop he thought I’d like and yesterday took me here. It’s hard to believe Caramel’s been around two years and I’d never noticed, or even heard of, it. Caramel carries apparel for men and women though I must admit I didn’t pay much attention to the men’s offerings. I came very close to purchasing an organic cotton dress from the sustainable collective by CONVOY but at the last minute found myself indecisive. I’m still thinking about the dress though so maybe I’ll pop back into Caramel this week and snap it up if it’s still there. The new spring stuff is arriving this week so it’s a good time to check this shop out.

I met Caramel’s owner, Sarah at the S Sale last week. She is such a cool chic. She was showing me one of her favorite pieces. an updated twist on a broomstick skirt that had colorful bands of fabric woven into it. I had to stop into her store to check out the rest of the goods. The space looks really clean due to the meticulously straightened racks and white walls. Caramel is full of designers that I haven’t heard of like Donna, Ravel, and Johnny Cotton. but some I have like January Jeans. What I like about the items here overall is that they are appropriate enough for the office, but hip enough to be fashion forward. The purses and jewelry here are too cute.
