I love chopt salads, I have tried quite few but my favorite is the mavericks. The reason I am giving 4 stars put of 5 because last time I went there the salad wasn’t as good, the plate wasn’t as full and the bread I was given wasn’t fresh and hot like how I had it before. I will give it another try and hope it will be better than last time.

I work nearby and go here 1 or 2 times a week. Usually it’s decent enough that I keep going back to pay $ 11 for a salad. But today reminded me that I can make my own at home for much less, and it won’t come with a side of attitude. The line at lunch is crazy, but understandable. What bothered me today is the way they were rushing people along. It was so crowded, I was standing five feet away from the person making my salad because I couldn’t get any closer, partly because the line to pay was also backed up. The employee made my salad wrong, maybe because she didn’t ask if I wanted or didn’t want things, or maybe she did and couldn’t hear me, or maybe because I’m not willing to literally shout over other people that I don’t want bread, etc. I thought maybe she’d wait until I could get closer to finish it up. Then she rolled her eyes at me when I had her partially re-do it. You know what — eff that. The friendly woman who rang up the salad could not make up for that crab. Not worth it. There is a Giant Grocery Store equidistant where I can go to the salad bar for half the cost.

I love Chop’t. I love it. I plan ahead for days when I’m near a Chop’t location. The husband hates it and there are no locations within twenty miles of my house, so this is A Thing. Union Station Chop’t let me down. I ordered a salad off the menu, but was given no chance to tell them I wanted some extras(avocado, bacon) added in. When I spoke up to ask for them, I was given extreme attitude and it’s not like I wasn’t willing to pay for them. I watched the salad being assembled and was surprised/confused when they started dressing it at the end of the assembly line. I’d ordered a salad with maybe five or six ingredients beyond lettuce and protein. However, all that was in my salad was lettuce, chicken, and the avocado I’d asked for. Yes, I was being ripped off, but more than that, I wasn’t getting the salad I wanted to eat. I had to practically shout to be heard by the person finishing preparing my salad and fixing it took longer than getting a salad from scratch at the Chinatown location takes. And of course, the attitude. I eventually got back to my desk with my salad and I’m still convinced they didn’t get all the ingredients in. If I’m going to pay 13 $ for a salad, I expect that salad to be what I ordered.

Good to have a big variety of creative salads. This is one of the few places you can get a really good salad for what ever mood you’re in. So often they aren’t the star but here they certainly are! I also like this location because I was able to mix and match foods from 3 different restaurants. Fun! I hope we get a Chop’t in Michigan soon!

I had a slight issue with my salad that ordered at lunch time and took back to my office.(nothing major– but enough to make me write a note to the general inquiry on the website). My note was answered within 15 minutes by someone at corporate who was genuine and super helpful. This is by far the best customer service I have ever dealt with! The staff on location also reached out to me! IT was great, and I am now a loyal Chop’t fan!

Chop’t is an overpriced, bland salad. The lettuce and leafs they use themselves aren’t the very healthy types, just romaine, tomatoes, carrots, bleh, very boring and not very nutritious. I’m talking about their pre-made salads. Mix them all together, you are paying $ 11 for a pretty boring and un-nutritious salad for what you pay. I really don’t know why this place is so popular.

I was already having a bad day that resulted in me missing the stupid Megabus which always leaves right on the dot when you need it to be 2 minutes late and takes 1.5 hours to leave when you’re there and waiting like a homeless person. So here I was bumming around Union Station waiting for my next bus, and looking for food. Tip: don’t think too much when it comes to food. Use your intuition and go with what your gut says. After all your gut is the one that’s going to see all that food anyways. I don’t know if it’s just this chop’d location or all of them are tragically crappy, but I came in here and saw a menu so huge and overwhelming that I decided to go with one of their«seasonal favorites.» Boy was that a mistake. With the Tres chillies whatever they doused on the chili oil crunch which was salty and shitty and basically overpowered the entire salad and killed my taste buds. Nothing else including the quinoa, sweet potatoes or beans has ANY taste. I don’t know if my taste buds can taste again. That’s how awful it was. Yuck. I will never go to Chop’d as long as I live. It’s only«Just salad» for me!

$ 15 for a salad is a LOT, even in this neighborhood, but it totally worth it! I don’t remember the name of the salad I had, but it had spinach, arugula, mixed greens, quinoa, black beans and avacado. I added shrimp and got the sweet and smoky chipotle dressing. That stuff had a kick, but WOW that was a good salad! Don’t be intimidated by the ridiculously long line; it moves very quickly, as there is nothing short of an assembly line of people behind the counter tossing and chopping and prepping orders. Plus, there is a sort of concierge that points customers to the next person available to take their order, and points them to their next step in the custom salad process(some move on down the line, while others grab their order and head straight to checkout). I can’t say that I’ll be a regular here, but I’d definitely come back.

Uh oh. Looks like trouble in paradise. Used to adore this Chp’t location. First, the names and offerings changed. Fine– I’ll find new favorites. Then, the menu moved from the wall where I could see it to some minuscule black dots of lettering behind the bar. Unhelpful, but I’ll live. And now, the employees– customer communication is going downhill. I have to explain«gluten free» repeatedly, insist on glove changes, watch the content of the salad since what is listed as the ingredients isn’t always what goes in the bowl. Today, my salad was made with chicken when I didn’t ask for it. I also subbed mesclun for romaine, bc romaine doesn’t agree w me. When I pointed out that there was chicken in my salad that I didn’t ask for, it was rudely thrown into the rubbish with a big huff! When I got to my table, I found my salad had been prepared with romaine, not mesclun; the beets were old and soggy, the cheese was missing, and the apples were green not red. Not only did my salad taste horrendous and I could only eat half, but it also made me feel ill! The beauty part? I specifically waited until after lunchtime to get my lunch so I wouldn’t have to deal with the rushing, the wrong ingredients, possible gluten cross-contamination(the celiacs out there will feel me on that last one). AND it was made by an older fellow in a collared shirt– something smelled managerial about him. Look, I get it: it’s minimum wage. It’s a salad. But it’s a motherhugging $ 10 salad, and I’d like to not feel terrible while ordering it, while eating it, or after I’ve eaten it. I can do that with a $ 3.99 salad. And then bitch about it, but with an extra $ 6.01 in my pocket.

Great for salad and we stopped at the Union Station location twice as we toured DC. Each salad is a generous size and made to order, or you can choose one from the menu. Either way we enjoyed a very healthy meal each time!

After my less than stellar experience at this location, I finally had an opportunity to go back and I must say that they definitely took my previous comments to heart, which resulted in a much better experience! Following my last experience, Chop’t customer service reached out to me and even went so far as to send me a handwritten note and some coupons. If that is not amazing follow-up customer service, I don’t know what is? I went back to this location because I wanted to give it a second try and to use the $ 10 birthday credit they deposited into my account for using the Chop’t Level Up account. Despite a long line(almost out the door), the line moved quickly and there was a Chop’t staff member directing customers to the next open station, which was extremely beneficial and helped keep the line moving. The staff were much friendlier this time and easier to understand. Also, my salad was chopped much better this time which is important because I got the salad wrap sandwich. I got romaine lettuce with carrots, cheddar cheese, apples, and pita chips. I tried just the fresh squeezed lemon juice instead of getting any salad dressing and it was a light and perfectly refreshing salad wrap sandwich to eat during the midst of all this hot and humid DC weather! Overall, a smooth and delicious experience, which I’m happy about considering the fact that this Chop’t location is conveniently located within Union Station.

This place is GREAT! I am a salad connoisseur(okay…snob) and I loved that there is an option to build your own with whatever you want. You can make your own with a base of one of four options, and you get four ingredients included at no extra charge(some cost extra). I was a little surprised at the ingredients that were included(hearts of palm! Charred onions!) and those that were extra(radishes!?!). I made a salad of mixed greens with: charred onions, steamed broccoli, radishes, hearts of palm, corn, tomatoes, fresh jalapenos(YES!!), and a couple other things. It was a little pricey, but salads usually are, and I’m willing to pay for fresh ingredients. The one thing I’d caution is over-loading the salad. I did and some of the ingredients were lost in the mix.

I visit this location 2 – 3 times a week after work to create my own veggie salad(dry) to take home. I’ve found that one of their salads is equivalent size-wise to 2 of the bag salads that sell for $ 3.50 each at my local grocer. Here, I get a fresher, cheaper custom-made product with a better variety of veggies. The choppers are always speedy and professional. Because I always go early evening, there generally isn’t a line; but even when there is, I’m in and out quick, fast, and in a hurry. The cashier is friendly and always greets me with a warm smile. They really seem to take pride in offering outstanding customer service. My one complaint would be the lack of consistency. I always get a salad with four veggie toppings. Sometimes the guy making my salad is generous with the toppings, but at other times he’s stingy and I end up with what is essentially a huge bowl of romaine lettuce. I’m never quite sure what I’m going to get. Despite this single challenge, I will continue getting my salads here and would encourage other salad lovers to do the same.

Great salad, but not the best location for the first time customer. Super expensive salad too! I’ve heard great things about Chop’t, so I made sure to squeeze in a visit when I visited DC. The salad is really good, but way too expensive. Seriously, $ 10 for a Cobb Salad? I dropped $ 42 for three people for a salad lunch, but that’s typical DC prices. The Chop’t employees weren’t much about explaining the process, so things were a bit awkward at first. Discovered later, they«chop» up the salad in front of you at your discretion, which we didn’t realize, so the employees looked rather confused when we moved down the line to order drinks. Chop’t is much like Subway, where you moved down the line telling them what you want as you go along, but we didn’t know. Once I got a clue, I was able to better tailor our orders. I would give Chop’t four stars, but the prices will keep me away.

Chop’t is in a funny predicament: there are so few places serving fast food salad that it appears hard for many to fully understand the cost of assembling great ingredients and producing tastes that are every bit on par with(and more often better than) a conventional restaurant salad. Yet, Chop’t does this routinely, often with incredible creativity and speed — particularly at this location during the bustling Union Station lunchtime. Chop’t provides a number of original salads, you can create your own, or the third option is a list of seasonal offerings that always bring something original. There’s literally no way to get tired of Chop’t unless your tired of salad in general, and I should know: I’ve visited this location alone about 50 times over the past nine months. It’s been noted that you can easily turn your salad into a higher fat, higher calorie proposition — and of course you can do this with any salad — but anyone with an eye toward weight control will tell you it’s all about avoiding carbs, and a great salad will leave you wanting another, just not now if the portion is sized right. Chop’t accomplishes this with aplomb. You will not go hungry and you can easily get loaded on 400 calories including chicken if you choose salads like the excellent Mexican Caesar(I’ve eaten this salad alone probably 25 times). And have them leave off those tortilla strips if you have a zero carb tolerance policy in place. In summary, if you’re looking for a place that’ll serve you a salad that’s every bit as tasty, nutrient loaded, original, and satisfying as any restaurant entrée salad yet made in a fraction of the time, head to Chop’t.

One mention of a build-your-own salad and I’m there. This is what led me to Chop’t the first time. Well, that, and the fact that I only had a short window of time for a meal before I had to catch a train. Since we don’t have Chop’t in Richmond(or Sweet Green — hint, hint to all you salad companies!), I was all about checking this place out when my mom suggested it a few months back. I don’t even remember what I ordered on that first visit, but I remember it being delicious, I remember the portion being huge, and I remember having just enough time to share a salad with my mom before hopping on the train. I recently snagged a vegan mexicali salad to-go on my way to catch a train(sense a theme here?), and while it was certainly filling, it didn’t hit the spot like that first salad. This one was too spicy, which was my fault because on top of the jalapenos that came in the salad, I also opted for a slightly spicy dressing. On its own, the dressing would’ve been tame, but paired with the peppers, the bite was a bit too much for my palette. Thankfully, it also came with avocado, which helped temper out the spice! The flavor was great, but the hotness was just a little overpowering for my liking. Lesson learned for next time. I’m sure I will be visiting Chop’t again, as I love the concept and the folks who create the salads have always been super friendly. Plus, it’s one of the healthier options in Union Station. Sometimes you just gotta go green.

Not as crowded as I thought it was going to be on a Saturday afternoon. It’s a little pricey for my liking, but a good salad is a good salad. The staff was awesome and really friendly… I’m not going to lie, I would rather go to Sweetgreen for a salad, because you get a protein, with your salad, and you don’t have to pay an extra $ 2 for it.

A great big bowl of good stuff for about $ 9. Chop’t is set up to crank out salads super fast, and they will keep chopping your greens down to dust if you don’t stop them LOL! Vegetarian rating: definitely 4 stars, this is a salad place haha it’s easy to pick from the zillion options of greens, veg, nuts and you name it, huge diversity of ingredients here. I recommend their new Mexicali Vegan, it’s a combo of tomato, beans, palm hearts etc etc that just sounded great, a dose of spicy pesto dressing on top made it complete. I’m a new fan, it doesn’t hurt that I actually prefer my salads diced into tiny bits :)
