I signed up with eight at eight based on the(former, mostly now restricted) Unilocal reviews. At my first dinner, I informed by a fellow dater that 8at8 offered Amazon vouchers for high ratings on Unilocal(I am not sure if that is true but it explains a lot). I was very annoyed by the huge discrepancy in prices; between women, and definitely between men and women. Maybe that was the whole reason behind asking for the resume as I saw no evidence of matching based on educational background or even interests. Also, when all the men do not show up it is still counted a dinner. The no-shows must have been matched with me, as I had nothing in common with the men who were there. You wait months to finally get to a dinner, if within a certain age range, rush to do them within the required time, then get pushed back to the end of supposed list of 300 women waiting. This could be a ready good idea but $ 150 per dinner where all you get is a cocktail(pay for food yourself) is ridiculous, and I saw no evidence of the high quality matches I was led to believe I would meet. They are very secretive about who you were supposed to be matched with. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Great idea, absolutely absurd matching policies. Long story short, they don’t match you on appearance(physical or any other), ethnicity, political views or religion. What’s left? If getting together with 7 other people is all you’re looking for and things like physical appearance don’t matter to you, then save yourself a lot of money and join a meet up group.

What a scam … I ended up demanding a refund. Was only able to get a partial one. After waiting on the waitlist for months I finally got into a dinner which contrary to what they advertise, all the men knew each other, and a few of the women had been at dinners together, also I was much younger by a decade than the other people at my table. When I complained I was unable to get into any more dinners and I tried to sign up for a bunch. You pay a lot for 6 months, but if they won’t let you into the dinners how are you supposed to get what you are paying for. Don’t do it.

Misleading, it seems like it could be a good idea but all the events start at 7, not 8. Seriously, this would not be a huge deal if it weren’t for having a different time in it’s title. I have to work till 7 so will never be able to make an event on time.

I recently joined DC8at8 because I have tried many other online dating services and haven’t had much success. I was intrigued by the idea: eight people getting together for a friendly dinner; no pressure, just promise of meeting new people and probably hearing some interesting stories. Before my first dinner I was of course a bit nervous. When I arrived I was greeted by an 8at8 hostess(all the ones I’ve met have been SO nice) who introduced me to the three other guests who were already there. The hostess also brought me a free(!!) drink to help me feel more comfortable. The dinner was really fun. It was nice to have the 15 – 20 minute«happy hour» before we actually sat down because I felt I knew everyone better and it made conversation super easy. I’ve been to four dinners so far and I must say I’ve met some great people. I like it because I can make new girl friends as well as meet some very smart and handsome men. If you’re new to the city or just looking for a new, interesting, and fun experience this is definitely a good start!

FOr a busy, single professional in the DC area 8at8 is a great way to get out of the house and meet new people away from work as well as a nice opportunity to check out some really neat restaurants. I was a little apprehensive at first having never joined any social club except for being a regular at the local pub but I am glad I made the call and signed up. The Hostesses are very accommodating and quite good at rounding up a good group of people. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself at each 8at8 dinner Ive attended and look forward to attending more. If you really enjoy broad-sweeping conversations over drinks and dinner as I do than 8at8 is for you and I would heartedly signing up and getting out there for some events.
