Got the Pollo Saltado. Usually comes with fries and white rice, but I got a salad instead of the fries. Chicken and the vegetables had a great grilled/smoky flavor. The sauces on the side, mild, medium, and hot, complemented the meal well. I would definitely visit the food truck again.

French fries as part of the dish? Oh, yes please. Tried the lomo saltado bowl– beef stir fry(onion, pepper, tomato) with a scoop of rice and crispy fries. I was concerned the fries would be old or soggy, but they were nice and fresh. The beef was tender and the sauce had a slight spiciness/saltiness. The green sauce has a delicious flavor but is heavy on the heat(at least for me– I have limited heat tolerance). The yellow sauce is mild– more of a mayo. My only little gripe is that I wish there were MOREVEGGIES! I asked them to go light on the onion, hoping I would get some more peppers, but I literally had two slivers of green pepper. I will be back, so maybe I’ll try asking for more peppers and see what happens.

Best Peruvian I’ve had in DC. This is also my favorite food truck, very high quality for such a small kitchen. Fried yuca is on point.

Finally, a place where I can get a real slice roasted pork sandwich, a la pan con chicharron! This is not the chicharron that’s deep fried pork, but rather the sliced roasted pork type, the type I have been looking for. I had the other Peruvian trucks, but this one stood out by far. The pork is really tender, and roasted crisp on the outside, but chewy and not overcooked in the middle. The sweet potato slice perfectly compliments it, and so do the fresh pickled onions. It’s a substantial sandwich, you will leave full for sure. Another great plus about this truck is the fact that they let you take as much of their sauce as you want. They have the«white» and«green» Peruvian sauces, but also a «fuego» sauce that was really good as well, it’s a spicy white sauce essentially. Most Peruvian places are really stingy on their sauces, they give you half of a sauce cup full, and charge you for each half of a cup extra. This place lets you fill it up to your heart’s desire(I filled it up to the top of course), so I loaded up for sure, especially on the green sauce which made this sandwich spicy and tasty. I was originally going to give four stars, but seeing just how generous they are with their sauce, and how no other Peruvian place is like this anymore, I am bumping it up to a full five stars. I will be back to try their saltado, but the pan con chicarron sandwich was authentic, delicious, flavorful, and is reasonably priced, all things that most food trucks unfortunately lack.

I definitely enjoyed eating my Peruvian pork sandwich that I ordered at El Fuego at lunch today! I spotted them at Farragut Square today and ordered pan con chicharon that came with yucca fries. Great customer service as she was friendly and nicely bagged my order. Not a long wait for the food so perfect for a quick lunch grab. They also had all the sauces from mild to spicy on the side and I took them all! The sandwich was quality. The pork was crunchy but not dry. A lot of meat on that bread I tell you. Right amount of the mild sauce on it too. I still drizzled my sandwich with the sauces I took. The onions were well done which I like. Not a fan of onions that are even semi raw. The yucca fries were amazingly crispy! Crispy like chicharon. Definitely dipped them on those three sauces. Definitely definitely order at this truck when spotted. I’m pretty sure the signature lomo saltado and the other saltados won’t disappoint. Definitely trying those next time.

We had El Fuego cater our daughter’s first birthday party and couldn’t be happier with El Fuego. Manny was extremely responsive and helpful in ordering the food and was always a pleasure to talk to. We decided to order the beef lomo saltado and the pan con chicharron(which came with yuca). The prices couldn’t be beat for the amazing food that was delivered. Manny brought the food truck to my neighborhood an hour before the party so he could deliver the most fresh food(which I had no idea he would do!). Our guests were all raving about the food and gobbled it right up. Beef lomo saltado: tender, flavorful beef with rice and perfect french fries. Pan con chicharron: delicious tender pork with sweet potato and this ridiculous sauce and a side of yuca I cannot say enough good things about the service or the food, and I highly recommend!

I’m currently in DC on business and I am currently enjoying my first food from El Fuego. I got myself the Tallarine Saltado with chicken(my favorite Peruvian dish) and it is off the chain good. I occasionally come to D.C. for business, and the last few times the truck was not in the area I was in. Today was my lucky day. Not only was the food itself good, but they a also had a selection of sauces from mild to spicy to accentuate(look ma, a dictionary word) the flavor. I paired my meal with an Inca Cola(diabetics be warned) and I’m in hog’s heaven. My one regret is that I’m not here longer to have it again. C’est la vie.

I visited the El Fuego food truck on 5÷15÷15 and tried Lomo Saltado. OUTSTANDING! I will absolutely be back to try the other items on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see and enjoy the Chicha Morada. Thank you El Fuego for your service.

(4.5 stars) This was probably one of the best food truck experiences I’ve had yet. The service was incredibly fast and extremely friendly, and I really enjoyed the lomo saltado: beef and grilled vegetables served with rice and potato(french fries). It was very fresh, the beef was high quality, the french fries were good and mixed in well, and the dish was quite filling, but not too heavy. Also, their spicy sauce is pretty awesome: it’s not crazy hot but it does have some noticeable heat to it, its really tasty, and it bridges the beef and vegetables with the rice and potato together nicely. My one small issue was that it felt a bit overly starchy and the potato really dominated the dish; a little less french fries and a little more grilled vegetables instead would make this pretty much a perfect lunch.

I got the chicken tamale for lunch and while it was a good size for the price, for some reason it tasted slightly… almost medicinal? It could be that I’m not used to the flavor, so that’s what I though, but it was definitely interesting. I did like the pickled onions and the level 2 sauce I had with it though. I would try this truck again but get a main next time.

I was really looking forward to my spicy chicken sandwich. It wasn’t spicy and the chicken was really undercooked. It tasted like I was chewing on a tire. Im glad I got the fries so i had something edible. I guess I must have just had bad luck considering the other reviews?

In the words of Justin Timberlake/T-Pain, «I can’t believe it. FUEGO! Who knew great food food can come from a food truck? I tried their special stir fry and ceviche and both were excellent. I also liked trying all of their special sauces. A steal of a deal for a two course lunch. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been here once but absolutely loved the food. I used the Unilocal 10% off coupon and got the lomo soltado bowl for $ 9, which is served with fries and rice. It was absolutely delicious, especially with some of their medium hot sauce on top. The owner was at the truck when I went and was so nice as well! I will definitely be back.

Mmmmm saltadooo this place is definitely ELFUEGO, solid food truck. They got a good customer base whenever they come by me, so I decided to give them a whirl. Got the shrimp saltado, good amount of food that filled me up without knocking me out in the afternoon. Great balance of everything: noodles, tomatoes(omg so juicy and not bitter), onions, peppers(not spicy), shrimp, cilantro(my favorite herb, yeah sit down mary jane). Can’t put my finger on what their sauce is, but it’s light and salty, but not so salty ou’re tasting salt. You’re tasting the juices of ELFUEGO. 10⁄10 would sweat outside in line for again.

I was super excited to try El Fuego, and specifically for their tallarin saltado. I’m a huge fan of noodles in general, and anything with beef(or other proteins) + noodles is a must-try in my book. El Fuego had stopped by State Department every Monday for the past month but lacked the tallarin saltado until this week(their last day there, and they won’t be back for a month) so I knew this would be my last chance to try them… so I ignored my leftovers that I’d brought for lunch and headed out to the truck with a few co-workers. First — they offer 10% off if you check in on Unilocal(and the person at the truck said I was the first person to do this, I mean, how can you not?!). Bonus star right there. This definitely helped, as the tallarin saltado will run you $ 10, which is a bit steep for a truck. On to the food. I thought the noodles were prepared very nicely — a little more mushy than some may like, but my personal preference is noodles on the softer side, so this was just fine to me. The beef was well-seasoned and juicy. I ate around the peppers, and was a bit disappointed that there were no tomatoes in my dish(my co-worker got tomatoes with his, I think this was just an oversight). While the portion wasn’t enormous, it was definitely filling. My only complaint about the food was that it was a bit oily. I liked the sauces that they had available — both the #3 and #2 had a good kick(I didn’t try #1) but nice to know they cater to spice lovers(and others who may not be able to handle spice by having a mild sauce). If the food had been less oily, this would be a 5-star review. Overall, very good, and I’d return(and check in)!
