Twice now, I have gotten macaroni and cheese from the Buffett that smells like straight up sewage. Unacceptable, especially for the price.

I’m a graduate student at Georgetown and I frequent this place. The reviews commenting on the over-priced nature of the buffet are all true. The food is OK and expensive. However, there are a number of very redeeming qualities of this place. First, the sandwiches are all incredible. I’ve tried most and they are all on point. You can change your bread and add certain extras for minimal to no cost. Second, the BLT sandwich is massive and it’s only $ 4 – 5 dollars. Add on avocado and hot peppers for less then a dollar more and it’s amazing. Finally, the happy hour prices are great. Some of the cheapest happy hour beers in the area. The staff are all friendly and mostly on top of their stuff.

Epi is great and convenient! You have to be careful with the hot bar/salad bar because it can get pretty pricey. Pro tip: breakfast is cheaper per pound than lunch/dinner. I think it ends around 10/10:30.

Salads are fresh and decent quality. Hot bar is very average. Lasagne was not great at all. Potatoes were old. Fruit looked great.

I am only going to speak for the Sushi bar there. Since the hot bar buffet serves the SAME high fructose, greasy, unhealthy food at the hot bar. Peter is the real deal, he is a real chef, and when it comes to sushi, he is certainly at the top of his game. On top of his culinary skills, you will find yourself laughing or having deep conversations with him and the others sitting at the bar. Prices are great too. It is separated from the Epicurean buffet, which is why there is a waitress(Wendy). She is very kind and helpful with the menu and is quick to get the drinks, check or just to ask how everything is going. She too joins in on conversations which brings more positive vibes to the dining experience. I look forward to going back every time.

The grilled chicken in the Mandarin salad from the salad bar was really chewy. I told the manager, he went to the kitchen spoke with the chef, and told me he was really sorry and to get something else free of charge. He then told me the chicken had weird texture because the chef said the chicken is old and that he had noticed that it was hard to cut up. Avoid this place, they do not value freshness and good quality for their customers.

3.5 stars. I honestly don’t expect much when I walk into Epi. College campus food. I’ve had plenty of those«mehs.» But Epi is slightly above my everyday college campus food, especially the nice bar area tucked away in the back. I came here several times with coworkers after our conference at GUHCC, and some of the food was slightly better than I imagined. The drinks were good, and the bartenders don’t mind putting some creativity into them if you ask, but the service could be really slow and confusing. It is quite the norm that servers forget who ordered what and messed up your order. However, I must say that the cheesesteak was great! It has a mayo-looking sauce, and mixed together with steak grease… Yums! Not your food of choice when on a diet, but it’s good for your soul. Other happy hour food was just okay. They’re not expensive but also don’t make an impression.

Cruelly overpriced. I paid 17 dollars for a small amount of salad, two slices of pineapple, and two handfuls of friend rice + a small iced coffee. None of which, I might add, was very good. I will not be returning.

They have a very wide selection of foods. It’s like a buffet, except that you pay per pound. Although the food tastes very decent, the price you pay for the food doesn’t exactly match up with the quality of food you’re getting. They’re asking roughly $ 9 per pound for food that you could get for a bit less from someplace like Panda Express. Perhaps the best plus of this restaurant is that it’s self-serve, fast, and convenient.

I only have experience with the bar. But honestly it is one of the friendliest bars I’ve ever been to. Every time I visit this establishment, I meet interesting people. The bartenders are nice. The cliental is friendly and intelligent. It just a is a good place to have a couple beers. I will continue dropping by whenever I am in Washington.

Simply if you can’t find it here you not going to find it anywhere else. Healthy– fresh — plentiful ! I wish I they had one in Dallas…

I love this place! I go here for the sushi bar and I have never left disappointed. The sushi chef, Pete, provides amazing customer service as well as hospitality. He is super friendly and will occasionally pay for an extra set of rolls(if he knows which one is your favorite) I recommend coming here and I know I will continue to come here!

The food here is absolutely amazing for a cafeteria. They have a huge selection of quality foods. The salad bar is absolutely insane with every possible topping imaginable. They have 4 or 5 soup selections, Asian inspired dishes, souther inspired dishes, sushi, fresh pizza and custom sandwiches.

I haven’t been to the sushi bar so I am commenting on their buffet. I once lived on their buffet for lunch and dinner until my girlfriend convinced me to make lunch boxes. I have saved quite a lot since then. That being said, the price is quite expensive($ 10/lb). But to be fair, their food quality for their buffet is acceptable and has a diverse choice for you to choose from. Their cream spinach and roast duck are highlights. Sometimes I order a slice of pizza for snack when I am starving, the quality is ok but the size really depends. Sometimes you get a huge slice and sometimes you just get a tiny bit. However, their breakfast buffet is a great deal for students, with a much cheaper price. Having a good big breakfast and a cup of coffee at Epicurean is a ritual I developed after spending a night up in the library. Their roast potato and umlaut are good. So, two stars for lunch/dinner and four stars for breakfast — that makes a three.

I ate here twice while visiting someone in the hospital. They have excellent happy hour specials, which probably half the people stuck waiting for something or another at Georgetown appreciate. The food is pretty middling. Portions from the grill are large, but our burgers came out a little underdone and the gigantic orders of fries were unsalted and terrible. The buffet was better than the grill, but the prices on the food items were just ridiculous. The milkshakes were huge and delicious, but also expensive. This was a step up from a hospital cafeteria, for sure, but I don’t think it’s a place I’d actually seek out unless I was stuck in the area for some reason.

As a hospital visitor, I’ve had the opportunity to eat here twice so far. Once for breakfast and once for supper. The food is very expensive at almost $ 10/lbs. and is extremely mediocre. They did have cheese grits for breakfast, which along with the oatmeal, is reasonably priced for a substantial amount of grits and/or oatmeal. The soup selection at the dinner hour is like wise priced and the beef and vegetables was actually very good. My main complaint about this eatery was the underlying«petroleum» flavor of the mashed potatoes. Either something got inadvertently mixed into this particular batch or they’re cooking on gas stoves with a «leak» and the mercaptin odorant is contaminating the food. Either way it should be looked into.

Georgetown Hospital: can’t get birth control, but can get tanked on Happy Hour beer. Who would have thought that a hospital cafeteria offers pitchers of beer for $ 12? Definitely an option at Epicurean, and pitchers are served up without a judging glance from the bartender. Though discounted, Happy Hour sushi is not the deal it’s made out to be. $ 1 nigiri is cut unusually small, and some of the fish selections were a bit dried out. I wonder if this is consistent with the normally priced sushi selection? Better yet, forget the food. Drink the beer. Pay the malpractice insurance.

Good food but a little pricey. Not surprised as it is the medical schools café and is also used by hospital staff and visitors. They have buffet style for breakfast lunch and dinner and is weighed my the pound. Breakfast, $ 6.99/lb lunch and dinner $ 8.99/lbs. the good is good but just expect to pay a little more. They also have a sub station where you really have to look at the descriptions to see what you’re ordering, a typical sandwich has a unique name. Runs you almost $ 10 for one. Lots of seats but it fills up fast. There’s also a bar inside.

I was a student at Georgetown, and am now an employee of the Georgetown Medical center. I couldn’t afford this place as a student. It was a nice alternative when you didn’t want to walk to M street and you were tired of the cafeteria, but it’s not cheap. The food is hit or miss; I’ve had delicious food and terrible food. Now as an employee, I go because it’s close and as my «I can’t think of anything else to have for lunch» place. It has ample seating that tends to be taken up by students with their laptops(funny how I never noticed that as a student myself). I rarely see people actually drinking at the bar, or at the sushi area. It’s a shame, since their sushi is actually decently priced and pretty good.

Almost everything is overpriced here but there is a good sushi lunch special for $ 10 that includes 2 rolls(12 pieces total), miso soup, and salad. It’s good and fills you up! The sushi is high quality, fresh, and skillfully made. We come here for the sushi lunch all the time but that’s it.
