I always get the same thing and it never disappointments. That ham and cheese croissant. MMMMMM. For Dupont it is a great price for how much food you get. The croissant is huge and extremely filling. I ordered the croissant and a medium coffee last time i was there, and paid only $ 5!!! Will be coming back and back again.

I had the chocolate+almond croissant and OHMY! Delicious. I wanted to go back and buy another one. It is kind of pricey but it is worth it! As a side note: the company I work for does not offer catering for the events we have and we always recommend Fire-hook, delicious, on spot and on time. I wish they had delivery for their catering. We haven’t had complaints and always compliments from our clients.

Cute place, and was very busy. Looks like they do a big bread business. We were there in the evening and the baked goods were a little dry. Mom liked her’s better than I liked mine — so it was a split vote on how we liked it.

I like here cookie and tart. It is delicious and cheap. At least it is very reasonable price. Especially cookies are just $ 2, big size! Recommend here! But it is a very small place and no wifi.

The service is great and the staff gets to know you and are very friendly. The bagels, muffins and the chocolate almond croissants are especially delicious! Good coffee too.

Came in for a quick breakfast when in the area for work. Their croissant with egg and cheese baked inside was excellent, filling, and had that wonderful crispy-carmelized-cheese-that-spilled-out-when-baking thing. Their spinach pie/pastry was also good. I bought it and ate it for lunch. My coffee was OK — as some of the reviews here have written it wasn’t a lot better than most chain coffee places. The problem wasn’t the preparation but the grounds. Bland, a little burnt. I’d pay an extra fifty cents per coffee if they used a specialty roaster. Either way I’ll be back when in the area for their stuffed croissants. And the coffee was good enough to drink again.

Those brownies… And the coffee is good! I will definitely visit once again to try all other sweets that they have. The interior is warm and comfortable and location is just perfect. They don’t have wifi though, but this is probably even better:)

Although Firehook has several locations in the District and Virginia it still has the feel of a neighborhood coffee shop. Great coffee, smoothies and pastries. The Key Lime Tart is devine and the cookies are humongous!

Only had a giant oatmeal cookie which was just average. I will still give them another chance and come back to try something else though!

DELICIOUS ! Please stop by this gem of a place, I was hesitant at first but after popping one of their brownies in my mouth i was completely won over. I also got a pumpkin iced coffee(in the dead heat of summer– who doesn’t love pumpkin and can’t find it in the summer anywhere?!) it was great ! I will surely be back as soon as possible to try out all of their other treats!

I lived in DC many many years ago and Firehook was a daily staple. I went back to visit my gf and came to Firehook every morning for a chai tea latte. They use powder(my favorite) and have spice or vanilla. I had both iced and hot versions and probably drank way more than I should. I’m not sure if they use Big Train brand but it tasted just like it. Yum. I didn’t order any pastries. They cookies are HUGE, they remind me of a personal size pizza. Prepare to share.

The family dropped in on a Saturday to this neighborhood hangout just north of DuPont Circle. We selected from among several pastries and hot egg sandwiches along with numerous hot beverage options. I opted for a cinnamon raisin bun that they heated up for me. The bun was quite fresh and anything with cinnamon on it has to be good and this was. My daughter ordered the sausage, egg and cheese croissant that she says was«grade A certified fantastic.» My wife got a chocolate and almond croissant that was rich and buttery with just the right amount of chocolate. I skipped the coffee but my wife and daughter had coffee that was described as «just OK» but got the job done. Seating is limited but we had no trouble finding a spot to dine indoors. Seems most folks were getting items to go. The décor was worn but comfortable and the staff quite friendly.

Instantly fell in love with this small café/bakery. Their morning croissants are soooo delicious. I gotthe ham and swiss croissant. The ham was the perfect thickness and sweet/salty that goes so wellwith the cheese that overflew to create a crusty outside. Yum! So affordable as well.$ 3.50 for croissantthat i had for lunch. Im a fan and will definitely return.

I try to find local coffee houses when I’m outside of NY. Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts annoy me, if there is a bakery with an espresso machine then I’m ready for action. Firehook Bakery AND Coffee House? Sold! Sitting in the café on a rainy Friday morning, it really is a pretty location. Dupont Circle on a rainy Friday morning looks like a European city. Very elegant. Walking into the bakery, there are plenty of baked good choices. I see a few great looking bagels choices, cookies and croissants. I usually don’t order this but I wanted a Ham and Cheese croissant! The croissant looked big with ham chunks & cheese oozing out the sides. I also ordered a latte as well. Good tangy cheese, it was a guilty pleasure before leaving the city. Firehook Bakery & Coffee House is a nice bakery that I would frequent again when I’m in the area

I was disappointed. The croissant was buttery but not flaky. It reminded me of pillsbury. For the price, I wish it were home made instead of commercial. They don’t bake on premises at this location apparently. I wonder how it affects quality. The coffee was not very good either. I should have sucked it up and stood in line at starbucks. Would not return. Pass.

I can stand it no more. What, prey tell, has happened to this Firehook Bakery? I used to love to come here and get a pastry and coffee. It had a pleasant, intimate atmosphere; it was quiet even, and clean. It has become something that I do not recognize. And maybe it’s been this way for awhile, but I didn’t realize it(or been in denial). I just now woke up and smelled the caffeine, so to speak. Perhaps its ideal location near Dupont Circle has actually been the death knell for its former self. Gone are the great cups of java and superb baked goods. I mean their bakery items are still good, but they are not what they used to be. I have seen their crackers for sale at Costco. That means they must produce quantity… Its overstuffed with food and the emphasis is on generating sales. Can a place lose its soul? I think this is what happened with this Firehook. Let me know if the old one returns…

First off, the location is great. It’s located right out of the DuPont circle metro station so it’s really quick and convenient. Lines were reasonable and it seems like they get a lot of business. I came in on a Sunday around lunch time and ordered the lunch special. I got a turkey panini and Maryland crab soup on the side for about nine bucks. It was delicious and the panini was made fresh. Other breads, pastries, and drinks they sold were reasonably priced given the area the store’s located in. Staff was friendly and nice. One star off because of limited seating especially in comparison to it’s other locations. Overall pleased with the experience though.

Great place to stop by for some baked goods, treats, coffee! It’s cute and quaint with surprisingly more seating than I had expected and is located near the Q exit of the DuPont metro. Their coffee is warm and delicious and the cookies are large and soft(I wasn’t expected that but I was pleasantly surprised). I’ll definitely be back here! We had a large group in here about 20 – 30 minutes before they closed(and we were prob a bit loud) but the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming!
