I’ve sat in this park and never thought to review it but here goes. This is a small park located on both sides of the Washington DC side approach to the Key Bridge. During the day it is a bit noisy as you’ve got all the bridge and M St traffic to contend with. That said, there is a ton of shad in the park as the trees are mature and full. Some benches for sitting to chill out and people watch. You are next to the Ukrainian Embassy so you can feel cultured and a short walk to the C & O canal if you get tired of the traffic noise. Not really good for kids as there isn’t anything for them to do. This is a pure park, no swings etc. All in all it is a little oasis away from the traffic and the 10,000 people walking on M St. I’d rate it 5 stars if you didn’t have the noise to contend with.

A pleasant little park at the corner of Key Bridge and M Street in Georgetown. It has a semi-circular colonnade, bust of Francis Scott Key, and placards with the story of the«Star-Spangled Banner.» I had not realized that it didn’t become the Armed Forces anthem until 1916 and the National Anthem in 1931.

A small but pleasant space right next to the Key Bridge entrance at the west end of Georgetown. It’s not quiet due to the traffic nearby, and it doesn’t have the views that one could get by going just a bit further down to the Canal or the river. It is a nice place to stop for a brief lunch or a break while touring Georgetown.

Cyndy’s Bottom Line: A little park to relax, sit on the bench, read a book and take in a beautiful day.

Not an enchanting or awe inspiring park to say the least. I’m not sure the powers that be whom wanted to memorialize the author of the Star Spangled Banner wanted to relegate him near a busy intersection and commuter bridge. I see people mostly using the park as a pathway to get from point A to B. The fact that there is traffic noise from all angles is inconvenient for those wanting to enjoy the park with a bit of peace and quiet. Take it for what it is, a nice rest stop during your walk/run to enjoy some shade.

Wait a minute, has this always been here? It indeed has, but I just never ever noticed it before. It’s a cute little park oasis in the midst of Georgetown. It’s right on M St, but can be easily overlooked. On a hot DC summer day, however, this park is exactly what you are searching for. It may not have A/C, but it’s got shade and benches. And, well, it’s pretty. And you can read up about Francis Scott Key himself too.

Nice park. Beautiful park. Never noticed it before. Why should I? It’s only been here over 10 years! Nice place to grab a seat and relax for a bit while perusing Georgetown. An escape from the pretension. I only wonder — are the Exorcist stairs nearby?

Note: The other review for this park is definitely reviewing somewhere else. This is a great pocket park at the intersection of M Street and Key Bridge. It has a paved shortcut down to the C&O Canal towpath, which also affords access to the Capitol Crescent Trail. This little bit of earth is like Grand Central Station for bikers. You will often see people like me in padded shorts eating globs of Gu. It’s also very close to the actual spot where Key’s house stood before they decided to knock it down and build the asinine Whitehurst Freeway.

This is one of those tucked-away little green spaces that most people don’t know about, where you can play sports. It’s right in the middle of Foggy Bottom(if you’re leaving Trader Joe’s, just walk north for a block and look to the West). There are almost always people playing soccer here on weekdays, which amazes me. Maybe it is just a lunch-hour thing, but they are definitely a young-professional crowd, which is cool to see. So if you’re trying to find a game of pick-up, you might check this place out. Or you might just bring a frisbee and a dog. This park Property of DC Parks & Rec, and it says you need permission to play here, but I doubt they would hassle you, either way.
