This places deserves 1 star. My vegetarian panini was not very tasty(the cheese has not been melted appropriately nor was there much seasoning) but worst of all I got an upset stomach about 1.5 hours after eating here and I rarely get an upset stomach. Hence, I think this place is unsanitary.

Great food and service at a good price. It’s always busy at lunch time, so you know it’s good. Some of the best sandwiches you can get in the area and they are a good portion. No matter how busy, you are always in and out in no time. I’ve tried several of their sandwiches and have not been disappointed by any.

I eat here pretty often, at least once a week. Breakfast is delicious, especially the sandwiches. Their fries are the t*ts. Price isn’t bad for DC, plus I work in the building so it’s super convenient.

Decent stop for breakfast. The portions aren’t huge, but it’s enough to hold you until lunchtime. The pancakes were nice and buttery, but small enough to fill a toddler’s tummy. Maybe.

Nobody will mistake their Reuben for one from a real deli. There’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s also nothing noteworthy about it to rescue it from mediocrity. It’s not generously portioned, nor notably prepared, and there’s nothing about the ingredients that demands to be taken all that seriously.

I live a block away from Pats and Geno’s in South Philly, the Italian Gourmet Deli has the worst Cheese Steak EVER I wouldn’t feed this to my dog

Nice place to stop and grab a quick bite for breakfast. Prices are reasonable. My only complaint is the pancakes are pretty small. Don’t come hungry. But the free small coffee with entrees is a nice touch. Had lunch a few times. The subs are huge! And tasty.

Went here for lunch the other day with a coworker of mine. It’s funny how when I walked in I did not see one Italian working. I know I shouldn’t say that(I don’t think) but you can say I was expecting something different. Anyways, I order the Italian sub. It was sooo good. I also got some fried and a drink. It was a lot of food for just under $ 8. They were super quick so I was back at work in no time. I will be visiting them again… probably tomorrow. Happy eating!!!

Best subs in the Metro Center area. I recommend the spicy italian on a hard roll.

Nice alternative for lunch as I work nearby, The Italian subs are good, but the cheese steaks are below par(I’m from Philly) and there is not enough meat in them. Love the spiced fries.

This Deli is a wonderful alternative to the traditional lunchtime sandwich shop. The quality of the food is great. The spicy Italian sub is magnificent and has become an office favorite! This is better than Subway and the cost difference is just a few dollars.

The Italian Gourmet Deli has quickly become my favorite lunch stop near my office. They offer the best cheese steak in the area, their classic Italian subs actually taste like classic Italian subs(the spicy Italian in particular) and the food is fresh and flavorful. Their burgers are also tasty and make a nice alternative to the McDonald’s across the street or any of the other buffet/grill places nearby. For under $ 10 you can get a sandwich, fries and a drink that are all quality made.

I’m going to jump off and offer props for my favorite lunch place within 4 – 5 blocks. The menu is what you make of it. The«Turkey Sub» offers big juicy slabs of mozzerella, not«Subway» slices. The owner will grill chicken and smother it in mariana sauce for a «Chicken Cheesesteak. This is tasty and lean. The«Spicy Italian sub» is smothered in oil(not grease) which for me fairs closer to ethnic than«Subway». The«Meatball Sub» is amazing. Huge spicy balls of Italian Sausage smothered in fresh mozzerella.

Bottom line up front: Another in a long string of good-enough-because-you-work-close-to-Metro-Center restaurants but would otherwise skip the greasy, overpriced sandwiches. (Like my reviews? Add me as a friend: ) My experience: This deli is very near my office so its a very easy solution to the perennial question of where do we get lunch. Unfortunately, every time I’ve gone I’ve been reminded why the extra walk to 13th and K or over to Chinatown is well worth it. The cheesesteaks are greasy, but without the flavor that accompanies a traditional philly cheesesteak. The peppers and veggies they add are just quick grilled within the rendered fat, again, unseasoned. The whole affair is bland and leaves you feeling one artery short of when you started. They do the seasoned french fries approach which I really don’t care for. Several of my office mates do like that, so I’ll chalk that up to individual taste, but I wold skip them just as well. At about $ 9 for a sandwich, fries and drink I’d rather just have Subway. This help? Let me know by marking it useful!

The Italian Gourmet Deli opened just last week. It’s not horrible, but it won’t replace my now standard a few blocks away. First the Pros: Pretty extensive menu. Serves breakfast and dinner. Prices are fairly reasonable. The renovations to the deli are great. The Cons: Most of the food is pre-made(particularly the cheesesteak). The sandwiches come with nothing on them and a minimal amount of meat on them. I might wait a while and try them again when they have established themselves, but for now… a complete skip.
