Went for brunch this past Sunday. Strongly recommend reservations as they are BUSY. Good news is you can enjoy drinks at the bar while you wait. My friend and I had reservations so we were seated immediately. It’s $ 25 for bottomless mimosas, bloody Mary’s and screwdrivers and an entrée. Friendly and fast service. I had the steak and eggs, which were ok. Highlights were bread and fries, YUMMY. My friend got the sausage entrée, she said it was also ok. Drinks were short on alcohol so prepare to enjoy unlimited Vitamin C. Ambience is LOUD. Lots of people and music in the background. Not ideal for a quiet conversation. Ok visit, but doubt I’ll be back.

I stopped by here with an old college friend when I was visiting. The restaurant is right next to the metro which made it super easy to get to. The brunch deal is pretty fabulous and they have unlimited bloody Mary’s as an option which is a great win in my book since I am not the biggest fan of mimosas. Their bloody Mary’s were pretty standard and came with celery(yay!) and the service was great about refilling. I had steak and eggs(which came with fries too). Fries and steak were great! The only issue I had was that sauce that they pour over their steak which seems to be their signature sauce. It is WAY too salty. I will say it helped me drink more bloody Mary’s to wash that down though! Steak was tender and juicy once I was able to basically scrape all that sauce off of it. And my poached eggs were poached to perfection(teach me your ways) Would definitely come back when I am back in town!

I popped in the other night & was lucky to grab a table of 2!(no reservations on the weekend) Everything was straight forward — order a nice drink & tell the server how you would like your steak cooked & then just enjoy! I really like the efficiency & the price points are reasonable for a group of young adults! The quality of the food was on par with other places in DC(only one cut option) — no filet. & at first I wanted to be disappointed, but appreciate this place for what it is & you’re all good.

I’m always on the prowl for a good boozey brunch place and this restaurant showed up on my radar. Naturally I had to try it. The steak and eggs were a nice side dish for my bottomless mimosas, and the waiter was a real homie when he left a carafe at our table because we kept calling him back every couple of minutes(the glasses were small okay). However, mimosas are the same everywhere(with a little variation on the ratio). The food is what garners the two stars. Honestly, I have never seen a steak cut so thin or covered in so much meat tenderizer. It had no steak flavor at all, which I might have let slide since I was getting on my way to tipsy/drunk BUT it advertises itself as a steakhouse. At least the steak was cooked to medium rare as per my request, but the quality of the meat was very disappointing. Disclaimer: I am from Texas.

This place is overrated. Paid $ 25 for brunch yesterday. The yogurt was amazing. And that was the highlight. The bread was meh. My steak was like chewing rubber, and the fries were too salty. Disappointed after all the great reviews. I won’t be back.

As someone who has a never ordered a steak at a restaurant I was a little nervous to come to medium rare. I generally have a hard time eating protein(carbs for always and ever) so I was actually excited to be forced to eat some red meat and hoped to experience mad *gainz* immediately after. While I did not experience any muscle growth from first steak dinner in probably ever, I did enjoy a pleasant meal. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were perfectly crispy and if no one had been looking I probably would have drank the sauce they give you. The salad was awesome too. Seriously, what is that dressing and where can I get it? I’ve had the same bottle of balsamic vinegar in my fridge since 2008. If I had medium rare’s dressing at home, I would definitely eat salad more. Like… maybe even once a week. Only complaint: as a gluten free gal(ugh, I know) I wish they had some gluten free bread. Honestly though, it wasn’t too disappointing because I felt like I could eat twice as many fries as my friends did since they had the bread. Nevermind, just thought of another complaint: something was wrong with the heating system and we sat under a freezing vent for most of the meal. Hopefully they fix that!

The food just wasn’t that good. This is the type of place you take out of towners because its kind of a funky set up that ‘requires’ unlimited mimosas(or some other drinks like bloody marys). And I did have a good time here. But after the automatic 20% tip was included, I paid $ 32 for some pretty average food. We came here for brunch on a Saturday around noon without a reservation. It was pretty crowded but we still managed to grab a table. I ordered the parfait to start and the eggs benedict. Parfait was good/fine…standard. I actually didn’t care much for my eggs benedict at all. I thought the egg was pretty undercooked actually. I pretty much cut into it to let the yolk spill out and then moved the rest of the egg to the side. The meat upon which the egg rested was pretty blah as well. Just not much seasoning or anything special to note. The fries were pretty good, but again just pretty good. Basically, nothing I’d ever come back for. It is what it is.

I came here on a Saturday for their $ 25 inclusive bottomless mimosa brunch. If you get there before your table is ready, you’re welcome to grab a drink at the bar if you’re gonna do the brunch. Three mimosas in and 30 minutes after our reservation time, we were finally seated. The brunch menu is short and sweet. 1. Starter of yogurt, fresh fruits, or mixed salad 2. Main of about 4 choices You don’t have to stick to just one drink– you can start with a mimosa and end with a Bloody Mary. They were very accommodating and made sure our glasses were filled, although our server disappeared toward the end of service. Bread was brought to the table without being asked and food was served shortly after. The poached eggs were great, but the steak, though cooked medium rare, was a little chewy. ~ reservations recommended and can be made online through their website ~ you have to ask for ketchup, weird it’s not already on the table since they serve frites with almost everything ~ the steak sauce was good, but better to ask for it on the side because they drench it ~ if you’re metroing, take the west exit and the restaurant is just 10 steps away

Lovely place! A+, price is nice for quality! Very simple menu, does not accommodate non beef eaters unfortunately but for those of you who do, you’ve come to the right place! Surprised me how the chef cooked the meat just right it really hit the spot, I got mine medium rare and it was gorgeous! Good portions, you don’t leave the place too full but you certainly won’t be hungry anymore! Will definitely be back if I’m ever in DC again!

I came for brunch. You choose an endless drink, parfait, salad, or fruit salad, and then an entrée. You also get bread. I chose to get coffee(didn’t want to drink), the parfait, and steak and poached eggs. The coffee was good, the parfait was amazing, and the steak and eggs were bad. The poached eggs has yolks that were overcooked and runny whites, how does that happen? The steak was also overcooked. I really enjoyed the bread, parfait, and coffee though.

Bread is good, The salad is just ok. Steak is cooked very nicely to a MEDIUMRAREWHICHISTHENAMEOFTHERESTAURANTWHYWOULDNTYOUGETITCOOKEDTHATWAY? but I digress. I enjoy that they have you 2 servings of the steak and fries. Dessert not included, but you ate too much anyway

We recently we back to Medium Rare after a friend told us they serve portabella mushrooms and we both loved it! My partner enjoyed her steak and fries while I enjoyed a grilled portabella with a very tasty marinara sauce. The salad is simple, but the crisp lettuce and perfecrly balanced dressing make it absolutely delicious! The bread is crazy good, warm, crispy and perfect to soak up any extra sauce.

Looking for an extra hearty brunch? Well you’ve hit the jackpot with Medium Rare. Found this gem via Unilocal,of course! It’s basically a preset menu with a few steak dishes and I believe there’s a French toast option(that looks bomb btw!). You get to choose an appetizer(I recommend the yogurt with dried fruits and granola!), and then your main dish. We opted for the steak and eggs(also comes with frites!) and of course bottomless mimosas — all for $ 25! What a steal! You can’t beat this for everything that you get. We sat at the bar so the bartender was super attentive at refilling our mimosas ;) Ps — make reservations before you come, because there’s always a long wait!

One of my favorite places in DC! Very reasonably priced. The fixed menu means food comes out pretty quickly and it is always delicious. If i lived closer, i’d be here every week. Suggestion: bring a bottle of wine you like. There is a corkage fee, but like everything else there, the price is very reasonable.

We came here on a whim after a movie and were intrigued by the simple menu. Bread, salad, steak + fries. Sounds like a winner to us so we gave it a shot. The bread is warm and very tasty. I would have liked some olive oil or some of the gravy to dip it in but it does come with butter. The salad is super simple. Lettuce with a few cherry tomatoes. The dressing was awesome!!! Light, flavorful, and I am a fan. My kind of salad! Of course they could add stuff to it but you honestly didn’t come here for salad. The steak is served anyway you want it(perfectly for me) sliced. Nicely seasoned fries on the side and the special sauce was delicious. The waiter mentioned something about being served and 15 minutes later you get more. I just assumed he meant bread/salad then the steak but boy was I wrong! Literally after I said it was very good but the portions are a little small they bring out more steak and fries!!! I was so happy. All that for $ 20. Can’t beat it! We had the key lime pie for dessert which was fine, but puny compared the the giant slices of carrot and chocolate cake we saw next to us which I would get next time. Overall this is a great place with a simple menu they really execute well and I will return!

I came here by myself at around 5:30pm. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded yet but I was greeted by a friendly hostess who asked if I wanted to sit at the bar or whatever and wherever I felt more comfortable which was nice of her. I chose the bar. A partial mistake because it was so dusty! I wiped off some of the dust myself with a napkin. Then, an employee put down a couple of boxes behind the bar and dust flew everywhere. Then a little later in my meal an employee swept his hand over a corner of the bar and dust again flew everywhere. I was glad that they placed a cloth napkin over my eating area which I saw them do with anyone else who ate at the bar. I was given bread that came out warm. I’m sure I would have loved it if it wasn’t burnt! But while it was warm the inside tasted good and I loved the butter. In hindsight I shouldn’t have filled up on bread anyways. But I love bread. The salad was good, they ask if you want cracked pepper. The salad is fresh but I did notice it was warm. From my view I noticed that they scooped salad from a large vessel that I guess sits out which would be why it was warm? Or maybe they prepare a large amount of it with dressing as opposed to adding dressing to each individual plate of salad? Round 1 came earlier than I expected but I was excited! The fries were really fresh and it all came out warm. The sauce was good as well. For some reason I had thought that they would bring you out a second plate for your next round but they just add on to your first place which was overwhelming and exciting because I am a slow eater so my second round looked impressive on my plate. Although they brought it out on a pan to put on my plate, I would say the second round was cold. And somehow either the sauce or the meat had a really grainy texture so it slowed me down significantly. I took home a takeout box that was cardboard… my steak was saucy! I could already feel it wanting to seep through the box. I would say the overall review it gets here is accurate, 3.5

I don’t get why places like this don’t hold a steady 4⁄5 star rating; its no frills, simple, and straight to the point. Do you like warm, soft/chewy, rustic bread with that great crackling crunch with a nice salted butter companion? Do you like simple salad with a great light dressing with non– wilted iceberg lettuce and cherry tomatoes? Do you like steak & frites with the seriously most AMAZING sauce or affectionately known as steak au poivre? Now…don’t you love a second helping of steak and frites?! I loved it. Simple. Classic. No frills come for the set menu because honestly… there’s nothing else. It speaks volumes when you come to this kind of establishment for one thing and one thing only. You’re not coming here for stellar service so don’t complain; you’re only paying $ 19.95 per person so pull up a chair, get comfy, relax with that glass of red wine, and go to town ;) p. s.BIG ups for the opportunity to scribble on the table :)

I hit this place on a recent trip to DC as part of my ongoing quest to find good steak and frites. I must say I was a little worried that it was a prix fixe menu which made me think maybe lower quality food since it was only 20 bucks for dinner. I am glad to say I was wrong in that thought as the quality turned out to be very good. Steak was a perfect medium rare and the sauce an excellent complement and just tangy enough. The fries were some of the best I have had in my search. The meal came with a little baguette and salad as well. Of course I complemented it with a little red wine. I opted to sit outside and watch the world go by which turned out to be a nice way to spend the evening. Service was attentive and friendly. This is a great place is a great value and good find.

Medium Rare is truly as good as it gets when it comes to Sunday brunch. As our waiter so plainly stated — it’s the easiest menu you’ll ever have to see because there are no selections. For $ 19.95, you get bread and butter, a simple refreshing salad, and steak and fries(two servings). I’m not sure what it’s laced with, but it’ll surely make you come back…(which is actually really easy since the Cleveland Park metro is right there). The bread is actually really good — it’s super soft and has the right amount of hard crust. The salad is simple, nothing too heavy. And the two servings of fries… oh my gosh. Likely one of the best steak and fries I’ve ever had. I got it medium well and it tasted great. It’s the sauce — I’m not really sure what’s in it, but it’s guaranteed you’ll love it, plus two servings hot off the grill, come on! I’m also not usually a fan of french fries, but these shoestring fries are just really good — they’re not too oily either. I also really love the atmosphere — it feels family friendly, yet comfortable enough for a brunch date between you and the boo or your best friend. The waiter was also really nice and the service was very quick(considering their simple menu, that’s what you’d expect).
