The only great thing about Mova is the beautiful women! This lesbian bar is just that, a bar where you can find lesbians. The bartenders are not friendly and lack info and you will most likely have to send a drink back if you’re a picky drinker. I went to a few events here. For a music performance, the crowd was awesome but the sound just totally sucked in the space. I went to a weekly event and the sound system sucked then too. The crowd can be non existent to crowded at times. On a typical weekend, the music is annoyingly loud and the drinks are underwhelming.

This establishment lacks consistency, a decent sound system, competent management and knowledge of basic mixology. My organization hosted a bi-weekly event here for 8 weeks under contract providing full turnkey promotion & production services: Talented DJs, Live in-house Radio Show with global broadcast, entertainers, promotion team and event photographer — and the only thing«consistent» about Mova and its staff/ownership was the constant struggle in communication and promotion: Flyers were never on time or they never came in, constant excuses from management, no cross-promotion on any social media or their website(they don’t even exist or function), double-bookings and overlapping parties who weren’t made aware of our event, constantly failing sound system due to lack of monitoring during other events, weekly breaches in contract, told we would be paid more if we continued our event past the contracted end time to meet the bar guarantee, only to make the bar more money and receive none, staff fights in front of guests as well as inconsistent end-of-event payment and disrespectful, unprofessional behavior towards our respected entertainers, promoters and talented veteran DJs. During our own promotions for our event, we were met with a general Community distaste for Mova, as well as by our own faithful following and other promoters and entertainers who cohesively stated that they had tried to host events here and would never host at Mova again due to the same issues we were having with them, literally saying, «Get out while you can and save your reputation. Mova is a sinking ship.» And Mova’s «advertising campaign?» GRINDER. Really? Now that’s classy. As Co-Principal of a successful event production and promotion organization, with over 25 years in the Nightlife and Entertainment Industry as a bartender, bar manager, promoter, photographer, and a dual business owner, I have never experienced such an utter absence of professionalism. After our contract had expired, we were constantly hounded by the General Manager to come back, or become Mova’s Official event bookings team, begged to fix the sound system, stating Mova was«losing promoters because the sound isn’t working» and we were told we would be paid more money, etc. We certainly did not want to return to host an event, but tried to help by facilitating the purchase of a new amplifier and having our sound system expert reconfigure the sound system at Mova at only the cost of the materials, and even that was a struggle to obtain. We then requested a meeting with the owner, weary of dealing with a young inexperienced GM who spent more time advertising how empty his bed was than communicating with us, in an attempt to clear up all issues prior to even reconsidering another contract, and to possibly help to improve consistency and communication, but instead we were met with an obscenely foul attitude and highly unstable and abusive personality by the owner. We fully understand now why he and Mova’s reputation in the Community is so unfavorable, why he has been sued by former partners and we will never host another event at Mova. We wish Mova all the best, but by treating their partners badly, breaching contracts, and blatantly using other trademarked club names in their weekly promotions«GLOW», «CIELO» and«OMEGA» they are walking a very thin line in the District, and without fixing the many deep-rooted issues within, Mova is set for failure and will never come close to being on the same level as it’s «stated competition» Number 9, Cobalt, or Town, establishments which hold much longevity and respect in the Community and have the staff, management and consistent unique events and faithful patrons to show for it. **This very review was on their Facebook page and they deleted the entire page because of it. The public have a right to know ALL reviews, but again, this is just another tactic used by Mova Lounge DC to cover up how awful this place really is.

Went this past Saturday. It’s a trendy place. Love that it was only 10 $ To get in. Drinks were well poured(from a bartender point of view) three«dance areas». Not enough seats on main floor. Rooftop has a bar too. Hella cute scenes of dc. Music makes u want to dance! Kinda high class attire but well mix of «flats vs heels» Some real cuties also ^_^ I would go again.

Mulva? I couldn’t stop calling this place that. Was in town visiting a friend and he said we needed to go to this place because they were having a special event for some organizations. So I said sure. The place looks nice enough with couches in the front, a decent sized bar area with a big video screen and then a little back dance area. There’s a deck upstairs which is kind of nice, but it doesn’t really have much of a view except other buildings. Sam Adams was on tap… that was the best they had, so for beer selection they get a big«meh». Bartenders were friendly. Just wish I didn’t have that one creepy guy pawing at me so aggressively. Are the words«please stop touching me so hard to understand»? Sheesh. I think some people might like this place, but it’s just not for me. Mulva, he he. I should have said«Deloris!» when I left the place.

Extremely welcoming tight group of friends open to new people hanging out with them in a classy bar. I started my Friday night off here, and was not disappointed. Met and conversed with 5 new people for hours of good conversation in the sleek bar that played excellent music in the background. Only reason it doesn’t get 5 Stars is because this place could be BUMPIN! They have a dance room(with good music), great rooftop, so why isn’t everyone here(I’m not complaining, but maybe they need to offer something to get more people in the door). I felt extremely welcomed, and definitely will be back to enjoy their rooftop patio when it’s not 100degrees/pouring rain outside.

This rating is for the drinks only. My friend and I had the groupon for the martini tasting for 5 different drinks. The drinks we ordered were absolutely amazing and different! Our favorite was the ginger-cucumber martini. Very light and refreshing. Not a strong ginger taste. Perfect summer drink! Another of my favorite was the elderflower margarita! Delicious. It was more of like a sweet margarita. The other drinks we tried were the Nuttin Honey, Moscow Red Mule, and the Pimmbledon Cup. The Moscow and Nuttin were good. I am not a fan of Pimm’s, so this was just okay for me, but my friend liked it and drank the rest of mine.
