Well. This place seems like it has potential being on the waterfront and how big and gorgeous the interior and outside patio is, staff is friendly… But not that attentive. the food is just regular, I feel I could make it at home and my kitchen skills are limited. A $ 17-$ 18 burger that isn’t even a good cut of meat, just tasted chewy greasy and definitely over the medium rare we ordered it to… My dad and I shared the nachos(beef) and then split the burger since we weren’t super hungry and the prices were a little crazy. The nachos are a really big portion, I’ll post a photo of that. They’re very covered, we ran out of chips at the end of the plate. If you’re going to eat out on the waterfront I’ve had much better food, service and experience at tony and Joe’s or orange anchor.

After a fun evening celebrating my husband’s birthday, our family and friends of 15 decided to have dinner at what seemed like a nice, friendly place. Nick’s Riverside Grill. Boy were we wrong. After patiently waiting for over 30 minutes for a table big enough to accommodate our party, we sat down and continued patiently waiting… now for service. After nearly 20 minutes of sitting at the table, without being greeted by a server, we realized that maybe there was something wrong. Wrong is an understatement. An hour had passed until finally a busboy walked over and informed us that we were not going to be served. All of us. 15 people were not going to be served without an explanation from a manager. In efforts to salvage my husband’s birthday celebration, I searched for a manager to perhaps clear up any confusion. After attempting to have questions answered by the manager, I realized why he sent the busboy to deliver the news instead of himself. Because there was no explanation. This establishment simply just didn’t want our business. Our party of 15 consisted of at least half with industry experience. If there were a situation preventing the restaurant from serving us, shouldn’t a manager get involved? We were shocked to realize that there were two managers on duty and neither of them thought it important or professional to approach us directly. Feeling humiliated, I escorted my family and friends out of the restaurant without any sound reason why. While we were walking out, we were shocked to learn that the owner himself was present at the time of our arrival and departure. He was in the kitchen handling food with flip flops, which is a major health code violation. Luckily the health inspector is a personal friend of ours, who we will gladly report this violation to. Overall, our experience was lack there of. I hope that large parties and minorities approach this establishment with caution, especially since their own bus boy told us «look around, the only black people here are in the back, working.» Additionally, when I mentioned to the manager that I would be Unilocaling my experience, he said«don’t threaten me with reviews.» Reviews shouldn’t be threats unless you’re doing something wrong. So here is your review Manager Todd and Ricky.

All perfect. Juicy burger, crispy fries, unpretentious, but friendly service. Bloody Mary was a bit too spicy, so you might want to express your spice tolerance if you order one.

Very disappointing! There were 9 of us traveling together and wanting to sit outside to enjoy the view of the Potomac we stopped at Nick’s. We were told by the hostess that she would be unable to seat us outside because of the size of our group. We offered to split up, but were told that wasn’t possible since we would«probably» migrate into one table. We ended up leaving.

I read the reviews before coming up here and was pretty apprehensive. A big frat party? Maybe. It’s the Georgetown waterfront guys, whaddya want? After spending all day on a boat, we came over around 6pm on a beautiful Saturday evening and quickly scored an outdoor table. Not an amazing drink list but a pretty decent menu. I went with their prix fixe $ 35 steak frites and my bf did the spicy bison tacos. I have to say his tacos were pretty amazing. I ordered my steak MR and what came out was basically a value steak that was well done. Not the best cut of meat, so I would pass and stick to the salads and tacos here. For the riff raff that occasionally frequents this place, I think service was pretty good. There was a table next to us of very rude guests and I thought our server handled them with class. I think a lot of the reviews here complaining about service, you should consider the source. Don’t act like an ass and you won’t get treated like one. Is the food anything to write home about? Not really. But what this place is not short on is great people watching, a lively environment, nice waterfront views and affordable prices. That’s why it deserves that extra 4th star.

Awesome location on the Georgetown waterfront. Huge outdoor bar with full kitchen service and plenty of outdoor seating. Also has a huge bar inside and ample seating if its not a good day to be outside. The food I have tried has all been great, especially the wings and nachos. There is one word of caution, there is a bartender frequently working in the outside bar named Bret that is disgrace to the industry. I would avoid this guy if possible. I wont go into details, but he makes rude comments and does not belong in any front of the house hospitality industry position. I would rather wait in line for Art to serve me– he one of the reason I keep coming back, besides all of the positives listed above.

Get the nachos and wings! They are piled high and cooked deliciously! They have some good happy hour specials and it’s nice that they have an outdoor seating area. It’s right by the water in Georgetown and has some good scenery and vibes. Great for after work happy hours!

Nick’s Riverside Grill is a frat house on the waterfront. I mean that in the sense that you can expect that majority of the folks around you will be hammered to the point of pooing, puking or fighting. The fact that they still carry a liquor license after some of the atrocities that have taken place there is astonishing. Halloween? Someone will probably pee on the bar. Random Sunday before sunset? Someone is probably passed out in their own puke in the bathroom. Judging by their recent Unilocal review, someone has now crapped all over their patio. Shocking. This is the kind of restaurant you only dine at because they take up precious waterfront real estate and the other nearby restaurants are either super fine dining and/or have a 2+ hour wait because their food is actually good. I ate here recently and was sat at a dirty sticky disgusting table, paid way too money for their mediocre menu and felt like my server could care less if I ever came back because clearly they think their location will keep them open forever. Word to all the people claiming«waterfront prices» justify everything — farmers fishers is 2 doors down with better food, similar prices and they don’t feel the need to tell their guests no all the time just because they get«busy». Yes. We get it. You’re busy. But you can spare 5 seconds to wipe the table down before it gets sat again. Pretty standard IMO. Funny story, I accidentally walked through the server station trying to find my way to the bathroom and saw a sign that read«I have plenty of staff. Test me!!!» threatening their employees. I laughed so hard thinking«if you have plenty of staff, then why is the service so terrible?» Any special request is met with attitude. Don’t forget to ask for water and refills or you won’t get it. Don’t even bother talking to management if you’ve had a bad experience, because literally nobody in that restaurant actually cares about the guest. To the people of Nick’s: get over yourselves.

The place is huge and spacious. The location is fantastic with nice views fountains that light shows that come on at night, the area just felt festive all around. Service was fantastic. Drinks were strong and I cant speak about the foodbecause I truly dont recall how it was, none of my friends had any complaints. The drinks were on point :). They were able to accommodate a party of 15 of us. No one had any complaints that’s for sure. I definitely wish they had music playing there but I could see how it could change the vibe of the place. Overall it was was a fun place that help make a memorable night. Definitely will come back :)

Table was dirty upon seating, as were multiple tables in the area. Service was terrible, waited probably 10 minutes for a drink order. It probably took 25 – 30 minutes for the entrees to arrive and they were terrible. The fries were cold and the crab cake was luke warm. The salad was a block of iceberg lettuce and a couple of tomatoes. Seriously. You can tell that this place caters to tourists who will never be back, and they don’t care, because they did absolutely nothing that would make anyone want to go back. The view of the water was great though.

Nick’s is a really fun place to hang out by the water on a sunny day. The people complaining about the high prices may not realize that in Georgetown you will pay much more at other places and not get a nice view of the water! I love coming to Nick’s with friends and watching the sunset come down over the Potomac. Nicks has a great service staff with friendly servers and bartenders. Our favorite server is Kacie!!! Some of the bartenders are total cuties especially the curly haired blonde one with the stubble who works at the outside bar!!!

So No one was impressed with anything ordered here. The steak, pork chop and salmon were all over cooked. My cousin got hit in the head with a high chair. Why no manager came over to check on her I have no idea. The salmon salad was really disappointing. The salmon was dry I actually needed to add the salad dressing to it. The salad dressing(lime basil) did not have any fresh basil. Overall, not impressed. Save your money and trust the Unilocal reviews.

I visited Nick’s on a Friday afternoon in May for a late lunch with my boyfriend. There was no wait to be seated but the service was a bit slow. It was hot. Really Hot and it took some time for our waiter to get us water. At first, I was annoyed but then I realized almost all the guests were seated in his section and he was pretty swapped. In the end, Christian was a super nice waiter just kind of busy. I had a grilled chicken salad and my boyfriend the tostadas. I had a glass of Cab and a beer on tap which was super refreshing on a hot afternoon. For those complaining about the prices, this is Georgetown ppl. Georgetown. Prices at the National Harbor are much higher. Pay the bill and enjoy the waterfront view. –The End–

This is my favorite zone by the water on warm days. I took my friends here for one’s birthday. They love the atmosphere here, where it’s intimate enough inside and cheerful enough outside. Contradicting to many other visitors, we like the food here. Cocktails menu doesn’t have much of specialty. However, the bartenders are fun. They can customize to your request. Burgers and sandwiches are not their specialties, simple because they are NOT your typical Five Guys, Sub Ways(for those who eat with a budget). I have a list that we always love: lamb chop, steak, mussels, shrimp cocktail, salmon, crab cakes… I like how the food tastes fresh without too much marinating ingredients.

We checked out Nick’s on Sunday for a beer and to stand in the sun. The place was absolutely packed so we only stayed for one drink. A VERY interesting crowd of people mixed with edgy, rich Georgetown folk(opposite Georgetown prepsters.) Overall, kind of a weird experience with basically no room, we left the bar and didn’t feel the need to return.

Very disappointing. I understand that given the location, prices will be at a premium. But that doesn’t justify flavorless, mediocre food. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich($ 18). Just a bun, lettuce, tomato and fried soft shell crab — no seasoning, it’s like the batter to fry in wasn’t even salted. The location/view and the service are the redeeming qualities.

Came here for happy hour on a beautiful spring evening and fell in love with the outdoor patio. Everything about the Georgetown waterfront injects endorphins when the weather is nice, and the drink specials are priced adequately as well. My one complaint is in regards to the staff losing my card when I went to close out my tab. Had to call again in the morning to ensure it was there, but apart from that I would definitely recommend going here or any of the neighboring bars for that matter when the weather is nice. Impossible to leave without a smile on your face. Keep in mind that it is definitely going to be flooded with likeminded yopros. Cheers!

My husband and I sat at the bar for an afternoon drink on a sunny winter Sunday. I ordered a bloody marry and a wedge salad, both were pretty good. My husband ordered a hot whiskey cocktail and he got a very small cup of herbal tea with some lemon and a splash of whiskey in it, overpriced. Later on, we were annoyed by one of the staff members smoking right next to us, because of the wind the smoke was flowing right at us.

Mediocre is a generous description of this place unfortunately. While the restaurant has a nice ambience and a fantastic location, every single other aspect leaves much to be desired. As soon as we arrived we were seated at a table that had water all over it. The place was basically empty so I picked up my wet menu and we moved to the next table. The waitress finally showed about five minutes later and took our order. We ordered a cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich. The food seemed to be taking forever and the waitress finally came back and said they didn’t have the cheese I ordered for the sandwich so I picked another one. Finally the food came. And it wasn’t great. At all. It wasn’t horrible… we didn’t have to send it back by any means. But for a $ 14 burger, my husband said it was the worst he has had since we moved here and it is close to being the priciest. My chicken sandwich was flavorless. Literally flavorless chicken with breading that had no seasoning. We finally flagged the waitress down and asked for the check. Once we got the check it was wrong. We finally flagged the waitress down again to have her adjust it. As we left, the hostess was on her phone and never even looked up. Just all in all, sub par food, service and hospitality. We wouldn’t go back.

I had a horrendous experience here. We came for a very large group function that paid a significant amount of money for the space and an open bar. Towards the end of the evening, as things were winding down, a group of friends all had to use the restroom before we left. The line for the women’s restroom was very long, while the men’s restroom had nobody inside. My friend who was dying to use the restroom decided to go into the men’s room. An employee came into the bathroom after and very promptly and rudely told her that«she need[ed] to get the f*$% out of the restaurant.» She left the restroom area and entered the main area with the rest of us while we gathered our things. The same employee came to find her in the main area and again rudely told her she needed to leave the restaurant. We respectfully asked why there was such a big deal being made out of the situation and that we meant no harm, but that she just needed to use the restroom. He again told us that we «need[ed] to get the f*$% out,» then he also proceeded to sarcastically ask if we «understand the difference between man and woman.» His tone was incredibly condescending and off-putting for a number of reasons. Right after that interaction, he got the attention of a large bouncer who then grabbed my friend(who is a 5’2″ girl) by the shoulders and whisked her away from us around to a space in the back of the restaurant. We had to catch up with them to make sure she was safe, and he then gave us all the boot. Overall, what an incredibly ridiculous thing to make such a giant fuss over. It felt that the employees we dealt with were having a bit of a power trip with the whole situation. It was not only condescending and rude, but also very disrespectful, all on top of being part of a large, paying group in the restaurant. Will not be back again and absolutely will not recommend to people in the future.

Nick’s Riverside Grill has been a Georgetown Waterfront fixture since 1992. It was in 1992 that Nick Cibel opened this eatery with his dad, cousin, and brother. The Cibel family has been in the Georgetown Waterfront for over twenty years. On the other hand we had been in the Georgetown Waterfront for only an hour when we built up a hunger. We had been on a long walk from the Homewood Suites off Thomas Circle to Georgetown Waterfront when it was time to pause and take in lunch. Nick’s Riverside Grill is an upbeat place. A major contributor to the upbeat environment is its celebration of the Potomac River. There are ample seats that overlook the Potomac River with the Kennedy Center and downtown Washington D.C., beyond. Guests can enjoy the river vista from patio tables close to the Washington skating rink that makes for an interesting storefront photo or the walls of glass. There is even a sunroof. I have said in the past that sunshine is the soratorium that increases the hormones that create happiness. And I was happy dining in the equivalent of a greenhouse along the shore of the Potomac River. I could of easily ordered a burger. Since we ate at Matchbox and I saw crab cake sandwich, it planted the seed for me to try a sandwich that I never tried. So, I ordered the jumbo lump crab cake sandwich. Complimenting the crab cake and toasty buns were lettuce, a tomato, pickle, french fries, and cole slaw. Sound great? It was good but fell short of the outstanding pizza and Burger that Matchbox served me. We sat near the bar. On a late July Monday afternoon it was mellow just like the restaurant. I was in the mood for cola instead of alcohol. The server refilled the cola in a friendly and timely manner. Nick’s Riverside Grill made a nice spot along the Georgetown Waterfront to pause from a long walk. In conclusion, the views of the Potomac River with a good crab cake sandwich made for a nice lunch on the Georgetown Waterfront.

This is an awesome place to go, have a bite to eat, a refreshing drink, just hang out and chill on a beautiful day. Whether it’s with a group of friends, with your family or just for a date, it’s really nice. What makes this place so awesome? The view. The location. Hands down! It’s located in Washington Harbour, right on the water. We had a nice breeze, the sun was shining, we had the umbrellas over us, the hustle and bustle of people around us, music playing. The ambiance was on point. Fun and relaxing. Now, unfortunately, our first waiter, he started our dining experience off on a bad note, a bothering note. It was about six girls, we weren’t rushing him at all, we were hungry, but we weren’t angry or irritated hungry. The moment that he came over to take our order, he was in hurry. It was almost like we were an inconvenience to him and we were interrupting him from serving his other tables. Not cool at all. Any special requests that we made with our orders, he pretty much declined them, they couldn’t be done. Like for instance, I requested a side of the crab tarragon mayo with my crab cake sandwich. He smooth said that he would have to charge me $ 14 for it. Excuse me?! It was crazy! Luckily, the young gentleman that seated us, Shawn, he saved our day. He pretty much took over our table, made sure our glasses were always filled with water, checked on us frequently, no matter how busy he got. When our food came, any condiments that we asked for, anything that was missing, they were brought to our table quick, fast and in a hurry. He also cleared up the crazy price for the $ 14 mayo and kindly got that for me, for free. No charge. As it was supposed to be. Customer service skills on point. Towards the end of our visit, our first waiter came over to apologize for his incorrect information, but at that point, after abandoning our table and providing us with false information, I was over it and over him. If it wasn’t for Shawn, I have a feeling things would have gone totally different, but thankfully he took over and showed us a great time and a great visit at Nick’s!

Ugh! Where to begin. Visited this establishment for dinner. Awesome evening so we sat outside. Big mistake! There were spiders above head by the millions!(I exaggerate. Maybe not millions but there were too many descending their webs for my taste!) The food looked amazing. Sadly, it was all blah. Despite the listed ingredients nothing had any flavor. Our flatware was dirty. We got several different setups and all were dirty. Ended up asking for a cup of hot water to wash our flatware in. Maybe this was just a one off night for them, I hope so as this place is great for a nice night out to dine open air. I’d hate to be deterred from such a lovely spot. The views were nice and the ability to just people watch as you dine is a cool option. I may try them again in the future. Please let this just have been a one off night for them…

Sad sad restaurant. It has such a beautiful view and its unfortunate that the food and restaurant don’t go with the amazing location and view. I would give the service a 4 because the waiters we had were really nice, accommodating, and quick. The food on the other hand is a different story. By no means was it the worst food I have ever had but I was not a fan nonetheless. The nachos would have been so much better if they didn’t lather nacho cheese that tasted like it was from a baseball stadium. Not that nacho cheese is bad but not used to having nachos like that nor did I like the fake taste they had to them. The wings with the chili glaze were subpar as well. The caesar salad we has was the best part of the meal and even that wasn’t the best I had ever had. Unfortunately, I did not see the inside of the restaurant but I felt that the outside was filthy. The floor needed to be pressure washed, the seats we sat at were semi sticky and I just didn’t feel that the outside part of the restaurant had a clean feel. I highly suggest checking out one of the many other restaurants on the harbor and if you can’t get into any of those go elsewhere in Georgetown because Nick’s is not worth the money.

My boyfriend and I stopped by this restaurant on Sunday late afternoon for a quick bite to eat. We love going to Georgetown, and one of the draws for us is the outdoor seating of the restaurants overlooking the water. However, this past Sunday, it was TOOHOT to enjoy the outdoor patio seating. We were much happier indoors with the AC full blast. Because I had already eaten, I ordered the tiramisu dessert. My boyfriend ordered the burger and fries. Our server was attentive, and the food was good. Although it is a bit overpriced, I hope to go back again to try some other entrees.

I was really excited to try Nick’s for the first time being that it was right on the water in Georgetown. We started with the beef nachos. Those were good, big portion. Enough for myself and my two sisters plus more! All three of us ordered the cheeseburger. Not good at all. Lacked flavor. I ordered mine medium and it came out well done. As a «grille» one would assume they know the different in meat temperatures. Next time we’ll just stick to the nachos and a cocktail.

Our waiter wasn’t friendly nor mean but he wasn’t engaging at all. Food-I mean your on the harbor and you don’t serve oysters? I was going to Tony’s but they had an hour wait and Nicks didn’t have a wait(now I know why)… Rushed to sit and realized no Oysters, how pitiful right on the harbor. Anyway their Shrimp and Calamari Salad was bland, my boyfriends burger was dry(fries were good). Not over priced, but definitely not a sit down place, I saw a lot of people at the bar, maybe their drinks are good? Will I go back… definitely not.

Aside from the semi-descent view of the waterfront, Nick’s is simply not worth the time. Terrible service and below average food. I waited 45 minutes to be seated and our server was unattentive and slow. For the cost of their food, it was almost unedible. We asked our server for recommendations and got«umm, crab cakes, just try that». It was a generic answer, which lead me to believe she either didn’t care or didn’t know what to recommend. We didn’t eat anything! I’m a huge foodie and will almost always finish every plate on the table, but this was not the case. Our food was tasteless and not well-prepared. Frankly, I could probably make better crabcakes following a basic online recipe. The crabcakes were over cooked, dry, and not seasoned properly. Although, I don’t have much expectations for majority of the restaurants at the waterfront, this had to be one of the worst. I’m beyond disappointed…

Food was meh. The calamari was cooked well but very bland. The aoili sauce that came with it was also plain. It tasted like mayo. The nachos weren’t bad. They use some type of tomato chili sauce on it and it made a lot of the nachos very soggy. Service was lousy. Nobody ever seems happy. A server sprinting into the kitchen cut me off and almost knocked me over, and didnt even apologize or say excuse me. The place was clearly understaffed. Only one bartender waiting on 30 guests so I understood he would take a little longer but at the very least just give us a heads up and not be rude. He didn’t check on us once the entire hour and a half we were there. There was one person who greeted us with a smile and saved the effing day(and the bartenders tip). She got our check, which we had been waiting for and gave us shots on the house. She had long blonde hair and is an angel. It is in a great location on the water and a nice place to drink. The restaurant is very clean and sharp. After today I won’t be back for a dining experience — but maybe for an overpriced drink or two.

Food is okay and very much overpriced. Service is meh — could do better. We honestly just ended up here because the other restaurants around Georgetown and Waterfront were full and wait was at least an hour. We were seated within a few minutes because the place was only a third full. The waiter took our drink order, but took 20 – 25 minutes to get our drinks out. The appetizer, which was pretty delish(mussels) came out about 10 mins after we ordered it. The other food(entrees), however, took another 20 – 30 minutes to come out. The place was not as busy, but getting drinks and food out took forever. Also, the waiter took forever to come back for our payment(20 minutes). On the up side, they were quick with getting our empty plates out of the way! For the food: I got the swordfish. It was over-cooked and a little bit on the salty side. The flavor was there, but the saltiness was a little bit much — it killed the fish to the 100th degree. The green beans that came with the dish was over-cooked as well. The potatoes that came with the dish were pretty good though, that was probably the only food that was right-on, the potatoes. One last thing: cleaning the table. We stayed by the bar to get shots before leaving the restaurant and our table was visible from where we were standing. The busboys just cleaned around the place mats and just brushed off the food droppings that were on the mats. No weeping/replacing mats and actually cleaning the table. How gross. Just imagine all the accumulation of the food and what not from previous customers. Eeck!

in a nutshell, we came for the location and table by the window with a view of the ice rink, but the food and service were nothing to write home about. a little after 1pm on a sunday, my immediate family of 6 sat down to lunch and were very happy with our window side table. i really enjoyed watching the little kids in their ice skates, skating around the rink. to start, we ordered the«hummus» which consisted of pita chips, celery sticks, and black olives. this was a tasty, savory appetizer, which staved off hunger for a few minutes while we waited for our mains to arrive. for $ 9, the portion was not very big at all… i’d say more of a $ 6 portion, but again, i’m paying for the location and window seat. oh and did i mention that bread is NOT complimentary? you have to pay $ 2 per person, not basket, but per person to have bread with your meal! never have i seen this before!!! for my main, i ordered the roasted veggie sandwich(mushrooms, eggplant, tomato, zucchini, havarti cheese) and requested no salt on the veggies and no cheese on the sandwich. i also requested a small side salad instead of the french fries. they told me that they could make the sandwich from scratch with unsalted veggies and just leave off the cheese, but only the veggies came unsalted, and they actually still added on the cheese. not a huge deal, i ate the sandwich anyway and it wasn’t bad… i probably could have made a very similar sandwich for myself at home. but if i’m paying $ 13 for 2 pieces of bread with some veggies at this very nice restaurant, i expect that they could tailor it to my specifications and leave off the cheese, which is not a hard request. i’d be more understanding if they were swamped and extremely busy, but they weren’t. dad got the bill, and i glanced over to see that we averaged about $ 28 per person including tax and tip which was a LOT for lunch, considering the subpar service and average food. in general, i felt that everyone’s main entrees were on the smaller side, including my sandwich. the restaurant is in a nice location, and while we enjoyed the view, i can’t really say that we enjoyed much of anything else.
