He’ll teach you what you need to know to pass. I took I think 6 or 7 hours with him as an adult with little driving experience (grew up in DC, no need for a car) and passed the driving test on my first try. As a matter of fact, the things that I got docked points for were exactly the things he told me I needed to pay more attention to.
His scheduling is a little scattered, so you have to keep on top of that so you don’t get cut short or have to reschedule, and yes he did talk on the phone once or twice while I was driving but he was still very aware of the situation (he called me out on mistakes I was making). Those were the only things that were kind of annoying. But he’ll get you to the finish line, no problem. He’s patient and tells you exactly what you’re doing wrong. As for professionalism, I tried two other schools that barely even acknowledged me calling them to ask about scheduling – like they didn’t want my money or something. Gunter had better prices, kept in contact with me throughout, and got me passing. I’m happy with that.

I have enough of Mr. Gunter’s unprofessional behaviors.
He was on the phone half of the time when we were supposedly having training. Last time he was late for one hour to pick me up, and then had me waiting in the car for another hour until the other student finished the lesson — so he double booked. And he did not even say sorry! Today he canceled my appointment at the last minute when I already was on the way to the training. I finally decided to walk away from this person.

Noël’s pretty good and always arrives on time. He’s calm when teaching and will give you practical skills, and stories about growing up in DC. Quite helpful to know how the driving culture here is. It’s easy to contact him for changes in schedules, and he’s quite flexible with it. I recommend him!

I grew up in NYC and moved to DC a while back, so my experience behind the wheel was, um, limited.
I took the 7-​hour course, and within that time Noël made me comfortable on the road and I got my license on my first try. He even picked me up and drove me there on test day.
He’s very patient, offers great advice, and has great stories about growing up in the Shaw/​U Street area. As an added bonus, seemingly everyone at the Brentwood DMV know him.
I didn’t give him 4 stars because his cars aren’t the newest, but then again it’s a one-​man operation as far as I know.
