Favorite dish on the menu is the chicken wings with fried rice. Ask for extra mumbo(spelling?) sauce. Delivery here is superly slow though. I’m probably two blocks down and they take at least 45 minutes to come. I would recommend take out which is only 15 minutes.

I never give out 1 star unless the customer service is mind blowing. Simply put, I ordered online 30 minutes before they closed. I received a confirmation email. I waited an hour and 15 minutes. Called the restaurant. No answer. I called the online service, who finally tracked someone down. They had closed early and decided not to let me know. I’m fine with closing early, but a 10 second phone call saying«sorry we closed early» would have allowed me to order from another restaurant. Now I have no food, and probably angrier than if I had been given the ability to place an order elsewhere. Way to continue the rude/bad customer service stereotype that Chinese restaurants have.

I order the Tso Chicken combination. It came quickly, it’s hot, the portion size is good too. I al see o ordered the seaweed salad. That was good too. I would have given them 5 stars but they didn’t give me utensils or a straw.

This place is so close to my house that I could throw a rock at it. Every time I have ever gone I have severely regretted it. They do not clean their shrimp. Portions are small. You’re lucky if you get 5 pieces of protein in an order. Make sure to get the little cup of dark brown sauce that comes with veggies if you go. It’s much more than soy sauce and good on everything. Decent spring roll. Nothing else. Do yourself a favor and just go elsewhere.

Pros: The food was hot, plentiful, and cheap. Good for a reasonably priced take out chinese lunch. Cons: The wait time is a bit long and there isn’t really anywhere to sit. I think you can get around this by ordering in advance.

Best Chinese food in D.C. I first encountered them when I owned a store on U St., NW ten years ago. Now I like in Adams Morgan and they are the closet Chinese carry-out to my home. The food has been consistently good and the customer service great. The counter woman, Lily is extremely friendly.

I’ve ordered twice from Peking Garden, and I’m hooked. Delivery is prompt, the drivers are courteous, and the food is very, very good. The General Tso’s tofu is the best I’ve ever had. Period. The cold sesame noodles are fine but could use more sauce. And the fried vegetable dumplings are also tasty.

Of course, they had to wait until my lunch break is almost over to tell me that they cannot make my order.

This is a solid«okay» Chinese place. Delivery was hassle free. It did take about an hour but that was the cited time so I wasn’t surprised. Wonton soup was way too salty but everything else was good. Not the best Chinese food I ever ate but it is certainly better than some places. I would order from here again.

I’ve never done delivery with them so can’t say anything about that, but I have my mainstay orders with Peking Garden: pork fried rice and steamed chicken and broccoli from their embarrassingly titled«weight watchers» menu. Both are reliably good comfort food, and simple. In general, Im not a fan of dishes with a lot of sauce or sticky/sweet things so I shy away from those, but the steamed chicken and broccoli is simple and the little sauce they give you on the side is good. Oh! I also really like their dumplings. Both meat and vegetarian. They do a good job on those.

Getting quality Asian Food in the city is quite difficult. This is definitely a hole in the wall type of restaurant so don’t expect to enter a super hip or upscale Chinese restaurant. Because when all you see around you is fusion this and fusion that(which seems to be the DC way), and Peking Garden is definitely not Americanized Chinese food. I’ve had Peking Garden twice. Once for delivery(Min. $ 12) & once for take-out. I have never dined in so I can really tell you how it’s like to eat in-house, but maybe I’m too bougie but the ambiance, or lack there of, isn’t for me, but it’s a hole-in-the wall so I need to calm my nit picky self down ten notches. DELIVERY: I was skeptical to order anything from here at first because everyone seemed to have mixed reviews. Unlike other Unilocalers, my food came in a timely fashion. I really like how Peking Garden packages their selected foods. I got a sweet and sour pork combo plate and I liked that they separated the sweet and sour sauce from the meat. I thought that the portions were smaller for the combo plate price han I had imagined, but still very filling nonetheless. TAKE-OUT: I decided to come here for my lunch break and there wasn’t a line so it was relatively fast and convenient. I got the lunch special and ordered the Sesame Chicken. While the food was good, I wasn’t overly impressed or wow’d by the dish itself. So should you order food from Peking Garden? My opinion, yes do it. It’s not too shabby and it’s more authentic than heading over to Panda Express, just don’t go in ordering with the high expectations or you’ll probably be disappointed. It’s not amazing, but it’s fairly decent and affordable Chinese food.

Peking Garden is a Chinese carry out place. Their food is pretty tasty and they have great options for vegetarians. General Tso’s bean curd is damn good, as are the veggie rolls. The portions are huge so I normally save half the meal for later. Their lunch special is a great deal as well. Save yourself a few minutes and call your order in advance for pickup. I haven’t tried delivery but takeout orders are always ready about 10 – 15 min after I call, unless they’re very busy. The lady who mans the cash register is friendly and the place has something of a warm charm with all the entertaining children’s drawings on the walls. Limited seating with only 2 small tables and a few chairs for waiting.

My go-to Chinese food delivery place. I feel like a lot of the places around here either go too fancy(and really expensive) or they’re so cheap they’re gross. This place has a great balance of delicious TAKE-OUT Chinese food(read: Americanized and greasy) to price. A combo meal is easily two meals, and after one order I ended up eating leftovers for a week(which I am VERY pleased with!) Get a menu because there are coupons in it for free lo mien, general tso’s etc. Don’t expect ‘authentic’ or fancy dining, but if you want lazy stay-house take-out Chinese, this place is delicious.

Good take out joint. I stick with the Chow Ho Foon, roasted pork. The chicken wings are also good. The only takeaway is that they are NOT prompt with cook time. I called and they said 15 mins. I showed up 20 minutes later and waited for another 15 minutes. Next time, same thins, went across the street for a drink.

Order Date(Take out/Delivery) 4÷15÷2014 at 8:34 pm, Arrived at our door at 9:30 pm Hunan Beef, Buffalo Wings, Hunan combo, pork fried rice. W/tip $ 48.00 First of all: For the price of $ 12.00 per plate, I get no egg-roll? Second: Hunan by virtue of the name should be spicy… it was not even mildly spicy, the wings too, nothing… no spicy at all. Third: Very oily… I never had Chinese food that was oily like that. The wings also. Fourth: No flavor, the food was so bland and flavorless that there was no pleasure at all to eat. At least it did not make us sick, I will never order from this place again

Peking Garden is a generic Chinese food place. I received their flyer in my mail and one lazy night decided to ask them to deliver some of their grub to my place. Food was just okay, decent but nothing special. I tried the egg rolls, warm, crisp and well put together. For the entrée I had the orange chicken with rice. The rice was pretty bad, rice is a staple of Chinese places likes this and if you can’t get that right, you have serious issues. Orange chicken was okay, chicken chunks were a nice size, sauce was a bit tangy but not overly tasty. A little below average if you ask me. Delivery takes forever, it took more than an hour for a simple order and I live less than a mile from the place. Oddly my egg rolls were piping hot but my orange chicken was a tad bit cold. Might be better if you just pick up but they do nothing special that will make me rush to give them another try.

Quintessential Chinese takeout for the most part. There’s a small table in the front if you need to eat there, but most likely you’d be better served by carrying out. They do have drawings from what I assume would be children at the neighboring elementary school on what limited wall space there is, which brightens up the place. Their menu is mostly standards, but goes a bit above and beyond, offering a nice variety of vegetarian options(including TVP for those so inclined). A substantial amount of food for the price; ordered two meals but ended up with more like three. Nothing wildly spicy or overwhelming me with special flavor, but good enough. Lowlight was probably cold sesame noodles; huge portion but basically they taste like noodles with peanut butter(there are basically two versions of this dish in existence: nice Chinese restaurants often make a delicate soy and sesame noodle dish with delicious spices, while cheaper places give you something like this). Decent ma po tofu and pretty basic vegetable dumplings and spring rolls, albeit enhanced by delicious dipping sauce. Food was ready inside of the 15 minutes it took me to walk there. I don’t do delivery so can’t comment on that aspect. All in all, good enough for a 3.5 star rating and a repeat visit the next time I have a hankering for Chinese and don’t want to travel to the suburbs or cook something myself. Better food than the eat-in places North Sea and Wok and Roll up the road. They messed up my order once, giving me meat dumplings instead of vegetable, which I was not pleased about, but they replaced them promptly and without a fuss, so I’ll give them credit for professionalism.

Peking Garden has become my go-to destination for takeout Chinese in Adams Morgan. It’s nothing spectacular. It’s respectable takeout at pretty standard prices. I usually go for one of the combo meals — entrée + friend rice + egg roll for 8 – 9 dollars. Vegetarian friends are fans of the TVP items. Some of the reviews complained about delivery issues, so I’ll note that I’ve ordered delivery 2 – 3 times without problems.

I’ve now received 3 chinese delivery menus in my apartment building that feature vegetarian TVP options. Tried the other two and neither come close to being as good Peking Garden’s TVP options! We always go back to Peking Garden… maybe its about time to stop bothering with any others. General Tsos TVP all day everyday.
