Royal Chicken and Gyro was out at Metro Center this week and having read really great reviews, I decided to check it out. I got the gyro on a pita and it was amazing!!! The meat was flavorful, the vegetables were fresh, and the sauce was a perfect compliment. I opted out of the hot sauce on this one, but if you’re up for more of a kick in sure it would be a great addition. It was one of the best gyros I’ve had in DC and at a great price(especially for a food truck). I will definitely be going back!

My new go to kabob food truck. I went to Royal Chicken Gyro only by chance because my typical go to Tasty Kabob cc system wasn’t working. I’m glad I branched out because Royal chicken was tastier in seasoning and tenderness and a larger portion. I also appreciated that their rice was seasoned as well. Though service was slower than most food trucks(same one person taking orders and payment as well as preparing the order) I did not mind the wait(10 mins) during my visit since the food was good and woman serving me was very pleasant!

Royal Chicken’s chicken salad is the BOMB. They make spicy chicken and have the hottest hot sauce of alllll the halal food trucks. No sriracha here.

I had lunch here, and I honestly felt like I was having lunch at my aunts house. Very warm and welcoming; and the food is amazing. I had the combo platter over rice– chicken and gyro. I wasn’t a huge fan of the chick peas, but everything else was really well prepared!

Inexpensive, large portions, and tasty? SOLD! $ 10 for a very generous serving of lamb and chicken over deliciously spiced rice, plus a side salad: it’s a really excellent deal and incredibly filling. Not the swankiest of trucks, but the food is the main draw anyway. Definitely going on my rotation.

One of the best food trucks during the lunch hour in DC. If you see this truck and haven’t tried it please do! I love food trucks that put some heart into their food and happy whenever I can support a small and local business. Royal Chicken and Gyro definitely hits the spot whenever I’m craving kebob and rice(which is everyday). While it’s not the best lamb(still very good), their chicken is on point when it comes to seasoning and overall taste and is probably one of the best. Their rice is delicious, it is seasoned with fennel seeds and give it a really authentic taste with the meats and chick peas. They have a very nice staff and portions are even enough for me(which is saying something).

Always good, always filling. Get the combo over rice for delicious gyro and chicken and then ask for the spicy. A must try food truck for what is certainly not a looker as far as decorations go on the outside. Keep it up RCG!

My favorite food truck! The food is always fresh and the service is speedy. I have a love/hate relationship with food trucks since I’ve had bad experiences with super LONG wait times(I once waited 40 minutes). Not with this truck. I’ve always received my food in less than 10 minutes. My go-to is the chicken on pita. It’s filling, delicious and cheap($ 7 including tax).

I would definitely get another gyro from this truck. It was good and the price was reasonable $ 7. I had the gyro on pita and don’t remember if anything came with it. It would have been nice to get some fries or chips. Even still, it was quite tasty.

Royal Chicken, I hope you know that you are my go-to kabob truck on Franklin Park. And that’s saying something because there are soooo many of them. The three people who run the truck are adorable and very nice. And their food is consistent, which I love. I only ever get their chicken over rice with extra spicy sauce(note: it is, in fact, fairly spicy). The container comes full of yellow rice with tender diced chicken and sides of chickpeas and a simple salad, all topped with yogurt sauce. It’s certainly a filling meal. I won’t say it’s magical, but for less than $ 10, methinks it’s one of the best values for food truck lunch in the downtown area. And if you try it and like it once, you can rest assured that the next time you stop by, you’ll get an equally satisfying meal.

(4.5 stars) Although the food truck looks very simple and not that visually enticing, I guarantee you’ll be pleasantly surprised with your meal. Easily one of the best food trucks I’ve had so far and the food is arguably better than most sit-down Greek restaurants. The gyro over rice was awesome. The gyro meat was juicy, crispy and flavorful while the rice was light and well-seasoned. It came with two sides of tomato, lettuce and onion which was good but very basic and left me wishing for another side option to complete the meal. Arguably the best part of the meal was the yogurt and hot sauces. The yogurt sauce was tasty and complemented the gyro and rice flavors nicely, the hot sauce was not overpowering but had some kick to it, and together the two made a great combination. Definitely give this truck a try next time you see it!

I’m okay with this truck. I got a gyro, which was pretty decent size, but I was surprised by the fillings. The meat was in chucks instead of strips(I’ve eaten at a ton of Greek places both in and out of DC, I’ve never seen the meat come in chunks), as was the lettuce. Made it a little hard to eat. Service was quick and the staff are very friendly. Just an okay truck, can’t see myself going back though.

Got a gyro from here today. Holy hell, it was enormous(that’s what she said? sorry). I asked for no tomatoes, which she confirmed with me when she was putting on the veggies. Also asked if I wanted it spicy — and of course, I said yes. The heat from the hot sauce was cooled perfectly with the yogurt sauce they put on it. Very delicious and they were super nice! The pita was warm and didn’t get soggy from the meat/sauces. The meat was very tender and flavorful. I will definitely be back!

Royal Chicken & Gyro is my favorite truck and it takes a Herculean effort to resist when they show up on Mass Ave outside my office building. I get the gyro over rice, spicy. I stopped getting the chickpeas on the side as they were kind of bland and if I’m enjoying carbs, I’d rather use those on the delicious cumin-seed-studded rice underneath the gyro meat. Unlike other trucks, the meat is in small, easy to eat pieces, with a greater surface-to-volume ratio for more crunchy, flavorful outside. The hot sauce is spicy but still flavorful, and the salad is fresh and a nice foil to the spicy meat and rice. The service is sweet and quick. Don’t let the plain-clothed truck fool you, this is some seriously good food!

I love this truck! I’ve had friends refuse to eat here because of its«no frills» appearance, but I don’t judge a book by its cover. An added bonus is that those flocking to the prettier trucks are missing some damn good food– and making the line shorter for the rest of us! The presentation(or lack thereof) and yummy food remind me very much of the delicious Halal trucks in NYC. I’m obsessed with the spicy chicken pita. I’m actually salivating just thinking about it. The pita itself was warm, delicious, and just the right thickness. The chicken spicy will the right amount of cooling yogurt sauce and lettuce. And it was cheap, severed with a smile, and I could use my credit card(Bonus!) Will definitely be looking out for them to return to Union Station, and plan to check out the Gyro.

I cant say enough nice about this truck! The food is wonderful and the staff is super friendly no matter if its the yellow truck or white truck! The chicken seasoning is the perfect balance of flavors. I have turned several co workers on to them and they all love it too. The staff is as wonderful as the food and prices are reasonable. I cant say enough nice things about them. I get food from them when ever I catch them on Mass Ave ! Try them once and you will go back again and again!

No tacky name or flashy design, so you might look past this food truck. I’ve ordered the chicken pita(spicy) a couple times and both were great. Fair prices and usually no line. STEPONUP.

I tried RC&G today for the first time today, and what an unexpected surprise! The quality & and taste of the food is head and shoulders above 99% of other gyro/Greek/Mediterranean sit-down places around town. I ordered the Combo over Rice, which consisted of lamb & chicken(the«combo» part), rice and lettuce/tomato/onion. I opted for the spicy sauce on top as well. The meat was tender and delicious, the(jasmine) rice was fluffy and seasoned perfectly, and the spicy sauce perfectly complemented the meats. All for less than $ 10. I guess the truck rotates between places around town, but on this day(Wednesday) it was on E St SW, between 3rd&4th St, near the Federal Center SW Metro. I will definitely keep an eye out for it and come back for more.
