According to a sign on the door, this Soho location is permanently closed. Another lunch option for Penn Quarter workers has disappeared…

I love this place! They have sweet plantains on their buffet table and they serve turkey bacon! Sunrise Café of off Connecticut is also very near and dear to my heart when it comes to my breakfast, but this place is neck and neck with them. I did not appreciate the fact that they did not take credit cards, so they loose a star for that. They do have European chocolate and cookies, and biscuits. which made me happy, so they get there star back. Fruit is always fresh, and it is always well stocked and very clean. The owner at the grill never seems to know what is going on. He has almost given me the wrong sandwich a few times. Perhaps he should let the cook handle the grill!

It’s more like 3.5. But I’ll give them a 4 for being clean. It’s a great lunch place with lots of options. It’s one of those weigh your plates kind of places. I’d dock a star for being super expensive(how can lettuce weigh that much!?)

I wandered around town looking for somewhere to get a decent warm meal without having to go to a fast food joint. Soho was a good solution. They have a huge salad bar and made to order sandwich stations. Good place to duck into, grab a bite and head back to work. This place does get extremely busy with the lunch crowd.

So I work downtown near Gallery Place, FBI, Spy Museum et al. an area with lots of tourists wondering where they can get a decent lunch and STILL send the kids to college one day. Well, if you’re one of those tourists, you’re in luck, because I’ve got the place for you… If you’re a local, you may already know about Soho, but they are not all the same and you might want to check this one out BECAUSE… Yes, the food is good. I think that’s true of all the Soho’s in this small chain of DC «food places». But some are small carry outs, some are focused on catering. This one is BIG, and has an huge buffet from which to choose just about anything. But if you dont want«anything» from the buffet, there are also two made-to-order sandwich counters, one for hot and one for cold. In a rush? There are some pre-made sandwiches, too. And an extensive selection of beverages and snacks to go with. For just a tiny bit more than you’d spend at MacDonalds, you can get real food. This Soho’s also has a large indoor dining area. Usually there are tables available, even when crowded. But on a nice day, you might do what I do: walk over to the Navy Memorial a block away and enjoy the sunshine and perhaps some midday entertainment — there is often something going on. Wave if you see me!
