This place is the best. They have the freshest produce and meat and seafood for reasonable prices. However, I would not recommend shopping for staple items there bc they are very overpriced.

This place is exactly what most people look for in a small grocery store. Their selection covers most of what I need and they change up the inventory constantly, allowing me to try different items each time I go there. The prices are a bit higher than a large grocery chain like Giant but that’s expected and the quality of their products makes up for it.

I’ve been meaning to leave this review for a long time. Long story short: Streets is the truth. I live much closer to the Giant and Target on 14th, but will go out of my way to shop at Streets. I loathe grocery shopping(few things stress me out more,) but I find Streets such a relaxing experience. It’s a mom and pop shop that has the selection of a grocery store chain. Not to mention, their deli is actually restaurant-level delicious. The soups, sushi and breakfast sandwiches are just amazing. It’s also never that crowded(KNOCKONWOOD) so I never find myself in an infuriatingly long line of people. There’s a 7⁄11 opening a half a block down, and I hope it doesn’t take business away from them. I’m really rooting for them, it’s an amazing lil locally owned shop that has everything both a 7⁄11 and Giant offer.

Streets is your basic, neighborhood grocery store. It’s on the corner of 14th and Belmont, where very limited street parking is available. The store is warm, sunny, and clean. In terms of food quality, it is generally very good. The meat selection is excellent, and the price of the meat here is amongst the lowest I’ve found in DC. Some downsides: the prices of non-meat items can be high, and the aisles are narrow and strangely organized. The staff members here are very helpful and friendly. Overall, Streets is a good resource if you need to grab a couple extra things for a recipe, or some beer on the way to a party. The prices are a little high for weekly shopping!

Streets is the local market that carries just about everything I need in a pinch. It’s a tad pricey(there are some things you should really wait to buy at TJ’s), but when you realize that your fridge is empty and you need something tasty to eat, you can easily head to Streets. Go!

Great lunch and breakfast options. Breakfast sandwiches are cheaper than Dunkin donuts and better. Lunch options are way cheaper than G by Mike Isabella and also better in my opinion.

I live right around the corner from Streets and have been patronizing Streets since they opened about a year ago. They have adapted well to the needs of the neighborhood and have been continuously improving and rotating their stock. The staff is friendly and helpful and the checkout process is a breeze. Notable mentions for the varied beer selection, consistently fresh produce, and wide variety of dried/packaged items, including international goods. They have also expanded their fresh fish section, have fresh bread, cut flowers, and a deli with a varied selection of prepared food and korean fare. The jap chae and bibimbap are perfect to split for two when in a pinch for dinner. The prices are fair for the most part, but I have been caught off guard at the cost of some of the refrigerated products.

I really love this store and visit a few times a week. The workers are really nice as helpful. I buy mostly chocolate and candy there since they have a lot German stuff. My only problem is that they increase the prices by the week. For example the Haribo roulette was 39 cents. Last week it jumped to 49 cents and today it’s 79 cents. I saw this happen with other stuff too and I really don’t like this. Put one price and don’t change it every week. It annoying

For being a small market, this place has a pretty big selection of everything. Lots of produce and a really solid beer and wine section. Although it’s probably a bit more expensive than shopping at a Giant or a Harris Teeter, it’s super convenient and has everything you’d need and more.

One upon a time, 14th Street, near the intersection with U, was an under-served market when it came to groceries, Best DC Supermarket being the only real option. Fast forward 10 years and now you have not only that(and renovated to boot!), plus Yes Organic Gourmet, Trader Joe’s, and the more recent Streets Market and Café. Ironically I don’t come here for the groceries, I come here for the canned beer selection. Yep, you heard me right, the canned beer selection. Used to be that you only bought beer in bottles because everyone knew, nothing good could come from a can. Times have changed my friend. Nowadays some of the most interesting new products are coming out and cans. And this is a boon for those of us who are on foot and just happen to see something that strikes our fancy but don’t feel like schlepping the heavier bottles a mile or more. In any case, not sure who their distributor is, but they have an interesting selection of relatively local micro-brews in cans. Several visits to Streets Market and Café have netted me six-packs of Wild Wolf Blonde Hunny Ale, Devil’s Backbone Reilly’s Red Ale, and Sly Fox Royal Weiss amongst others, so if youre in the«hood and have a hankering for a six-pack, stop by Streets Market and Café.

Love, love, LOVE Streets Market. Do not be deceived by the size… because they have absolutely everything and more. It’s a perfect place to do grocery shopping and to run in throughout the week to pick up random forgotten items. The customer service is also excellent and they always go above and beyond. For example, I was there late last night and(surprisingly) they did not have feta… which I really needed for a dinner I was cooking. They went to the back and filled up a plastic container from their café and gave it to me at no charge. I’m moving out of the columbia heights/u street area soon but I plan on making the trip over on weekends to shop(because it’s that great of an experience).

I love Streets Market & Café! Not only is the location convenient but they have a wide variety of brands and products. Plus, they stock a great amount of gluten free products. The truly amazing part is the café… all kinds of deli food and Korean food! Bi bim bap, bulgogi(plated or on a sub/wrap), soup and more! I probably eat out more than I eat in now because of Streets.

As another reviewer said, it’s a nice compliment to the nearby Trader Joes and sells many of the things you want TJs to have but doesn’t. When Streets first opened it was a little overpriced but I think they’ve moderated their prices somewhat and it now offers a decent selection for moderate prices. Given the store’s convenience(I’m only a block away), it’s a useful addition to my grocery options.

REVIEWISFORBEERLOVERSONLY Come here and expect: mostly cold local beer that is a decent selection of some great breweries What I got from it: I’m an avid craft beer lover. Nowadays you don’t have to look hard for it. Yes, you can get some decent local beer at your local Safeway or Giant. BUT, it’s noteworthy when you notice that a place carries not just what is popular, but what is exciting and not entirely well known. Streets does that. I appreciated not only the selection that was both local AND International, but most beers were in the fridge! Don’t get me wrong, the place isn’t an extensive selection like de Vino’s half a mile away, but you can bet on two things about Streets: 1) the selection will be worth a peak at when you are in the mood for some great beer 2) the selection is COLD. By the way, don’t drink your beer too cold, otherwise you are masking the flavor! But in the market, it keeps the beer from going past it’s prime too early. And finally one more thing: beer expires. So, Streets seems like it will rotate its product since it’s a gourmet market. I have been to liquor stores who don’t rotate or throw out their product since they are in it for the $$$.

I live equidistant from Streets and the Trader Joe’s, and I have found them to be nice complements to one another. Streets has a deli counter — which Trader Joe’s sadly lacks — higher quality produce, much less expensive fish(I’ve never understood why a salmon fillet is like $ 15 at TJs?), and pretty decent prepared meals. They also have some specialty and brand name items that Trader Joe’s lacks. I try to buy most things at TJs, since it’s typically cheaper, but Streets fills in a lot of holes that I would have previously had to trek to Whole Foods to get. Streets’ prices aren’t great, but they’re certainly cheaper than Whole Foods, and sometimes they have pretty awesome sales. What’s more, there are NEVER lines. Unlike at TJs or Whole Foods, shopping at Streets can actually be relaxing, and is never stressful. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. And they have an awesome beer selection.

Bumping it up a star. The meat is still pretty cheap, although they’ve raised the price of chicken breast from the insanely cheap price of $ 1.99/lb to the more common $ 3.99/lb price. Very friendly service, never any lines. Produce is generally pretty good and cheaper than WF and Harris Teeter. Wish there were more markets like this in DC.

I didn’t end up buying anything when I visited a couple days ago, but I did check out all the aisles. I think if you live in neighborhood, aka, around the corner and don’t want to walk another 5 — 10 minutes to Trader Joe’s, YES organic, Whole Foods, Giant, etc., this is a good option to pick up food. Some things appear to be higher priced here but the convenience might be worth it to you. I like that there is a deli area and a good variety of specialty brand items as well as some conventionally stocked goods. Produce is a little slim so this might be a better place for prepackaged stuff. That said, the fridge section is stocked with alcohol. Enter the market and café from either 14th St or Belmont St. I’m not sure there was actual seating within but I might have missed it.

Have only been to Streets three times, but hope to make it my regular grocery store. I would never shop at Whole Foods, and like to buy certain well-known brands of certain items. So I am very happy with the mix of niche health /faddish items and mainstream brands. I compared probably 25 different items with Harris Teeter on Kalorama and found 90% of them almost identically priced. Some of the produce was a LOT cheaper than HT and seems of better quality. Last Monday, Korean Deli special day, I got two large servings of Bi Bim Bap, four pieces of mandoo, and a serving of seaweed salad for $ 14 – the chef even threw in a complimentary side of kimchi. More than enough for dinner for my wife and me, and much cheaper than ordering in. And of course, it’s next to impossible to find Korean food in DC anyway. There was too much gochujang on the bi bim bap, but I’m sure I can ask for less next time. Otherwise it made for a delicious meal!(oh, and for those who like to cook Korean, they do sell gochujang at Streets in the typical little red plastic tub!). On all three trips there, I have found the employees to be helpful, courteous, cheerful, and efficient. Today at 11am, there were only two people ahead of me in line. On Monday, at 6pm, there was no one in line ahead of me. Check it out. I think you’ll be favorably impressed.

We need more Trader Joe’s, not more Whole Foods in this part of the city. Although it has a wide selection of organic/kale/gluten free/natural products, the prices are mostly higher than that of Whole Foods. Example– the large container of Chobani was $ 8.99. The one exception was Fuji apples, which were $ 1.49/lb today. I’ll occasionally shop here, but it will only happen when I forget to stop at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods on the way home from work.
