I love this place! Especially on Sunday nights! They have this event called, «Azucar Limbo» where there is a DJ that plays good music, have special drinks and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere. The bartenders are nice and everyone here seems to be really outgoing! A great place to meet new people and have some fun! Oh! They also have delicious desserts and a nice swing!

I had high hopes for this place. Decided to check it out on a Friday for happy hour. With it being downtown and the start of the weekend, I was expecting a decent crowd. Boy was I wrong! I arrived and there was 3 other«parties» there. A party of two, a party of 3 and then one big party of people there for a special occasion. So I figured no big crowd, no biggie it’s still new. Maybe the service will impress me. Wrong again. I noticed a waiter/bartender taking orders but he never came to my table. So I eventually went up to the bar to order a DUI(an underwhelming drink) and a Mojito. I was told my drink would be made and brought to my table. I waited a good 10 minutes before checking on when I could expect my drink(remember it wasn’t busy). Eventually my drink came and I’m glad I didn’t pay the full price for it.(HH is 50% drinks) The food menu didn’t impress me. I’m not sure if this a lounge, bar, dessert bar or a restaurant. Either way, they need to go back to the drawing board. I think if they focus on dessert and cocktails this could be such a cute after dinner spot. It’s so cute inside. They offer $ 200+ bottle service(which makes me wonder if this is a lounge?) Now I’m sure you are wondering why the 1-star. So after one round of drinks, we decided to go elsewhere. It wasn’t until I arrived at a different bar and was asked for my id when I realized that I had left my id at Sugar. So my friend calls and ask someone to check the table for us. Supposedly they checked and did not find it. I knew it was there so i walk back over and noticed that the empty glasses were still on the table we sat at and my ID was in plain sight. They never checked! Instead of checking they asked for my phone number in case they found it. Smh. Hire attentive and customer oriented staff!

This place is amazing! Such an awesome and modern atmosphere. The décor is stylish and fresh in every way. They have karaōke on Wednesday nights(ANYSONGYOUWANT) and their happy hour prices are awesome. I will definitely be returning.

Great sandwiches(straight out of Italy) and great staff! The space itself is really cute, and I can’t wait to try the cocktails. It’s our office’s new lunch spot, and we hope it sticks around.

I have been walking by Sugar for months and decided to stop in for Lunch today. The ambience is clever with a playful Miami feel. Nice music plays while enjoying a healthy Italian style menu. I had the Bufala sandwich which was delicious. Happy Hour is from 4 – 7 daily with 50% off all alcohol which is pretty dope! I will definitely be back.

I walked by and saw the patio sign of this recently opened spot. It looks like something you’d find in Europe — modern, sexy décor with swing-style seats suspended from the ceiling and a little patio area on a block that otherwise lacks sidewalk dining. On looks alone, the place gets an easy five stars. Evidently this place is trying to hit all three DC money spots: lunch, happy hour, and club scene — and they have the right aesthetics to pull that trifecta off, if they execute right. I imagine the lunch prices will not go over well with most consumers — $ 11 – 12 for standard-sized sandwiches, $ 12 for desserts(haven’t seen them), and $ 15 for cocktails(haven’t tried them). $ 15 at the Hay-Adams or the W is what you expect, but perhaps not on this fringe of K Street in kind-of-Foggy Bottom. Sandwiches don’t come with anything(fries, chips, etc.), and I didn’t look to see whether those things were available because I try not to buy them anyhow. The quality was great, and I so I give it four stars, for now. I ordered the prosciutto sandwich, to go. It took perhaps three minutes. The bread was warm, had the right chew, and was doused but not soaked with outstanding extra-virgin olive oil. The bufala mozzarella was also excellent, and the portion of prosciutto was not skimpy. Do I prefer this over Bread Line’s $ 8 prosciutto piadine or sandwich? Hard to say, and I probably don’t prefer it enough to pay 50% extra for it if all else were equal, but this place is a few blocks closer so all else isn’t equal. Service was friendly. The place was empty at 12:45 p.m. on a Thursday, which I found a little strange even if they just opened. If word gets out, people will cross 21st and come here instead of walking up 19th or 20th. We’ll see whether word gets out. I look forward to coming back for happy hour and, perhaps, a late cocktail if the crowd is right.
