I ordered a gyro, and it was pretty darn good! I’ll be back to get another for sure, just remember to order the tzatziki sauce if you don’t want it to come with feta cheese.

I used to love this place(still do). Always order the gyro platter which is consistently delicious, but decided to branch out and order the marinated chicken breast. Big mistake Two things– they raised all of their prices, which ok, but the chicken breast was 13 dollars and cut in half. It was SO thin and the green beans were equivalent to what comes in a can. So disappointed and probably won’t come back here again. Not sure if there is new management or what the deal is, but not worth it much anymore.

Great place for lunch. The green beans are awesome. My ground beef /pasta dish was fresh-made.

The best cheap eats on U Street. But please, Greek Spot, bring back the taramasalata!

Very fast and friendly service! However I found the Athenian chicken to be mediocre at best. Green beans tasted like they came straight from a can and the potatoes were dry and flavorless. Won’t be back :/

The restaurant is not visually the best one you could find so it’s better to consider it for a delivery-takeaway. They have a wide range of meal, which includes basically all the Greek specialties. This is a good because you have a lot of different choices. The food was ok but no more. The Greek salad doesn’t have onions and the feta cheese was hard to find and didn’t take like real feta you would eat in Greece. My salad was full of oil, way too much to be enjoyed actually. Pastas are just basic pastas and the meat was a little overcooked. Despite those bad experiences it’s still a good thing to have a Greek spot in DC but some improvements could make the next experience better.

Three stars for the dolmadakia side dish — $ 4.20 for a super small container with maybe 6 grape leaves in it. Love the fries and the gyro platter, but that side needs some help.

Never been here before. But my brother and his girlfriend recommended it. We all got the vegetarian gyro platter. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting buy it was absolutely delicious. The platter includes a small salad, quartered pita bread, rice and veggie strips. Everything was perfect. The owner was extremely friendly and came out to talk with us and answer a couple questions we had regarding the sauces included on the plate. We wrapped up with a couple orders of baklava that might be the best I’ve ever had. The flavors(cloves, cinnamon and honey) really shine through. I would come back again just to get the baklava again. Awesome place to get some delicious Greek food. Definitely try this place out. You will not be disappointed.

I have always love love loveeeeeed this place. I can be the first one to say that I will stuff myself with meat but every time I enter this spot I become a vegetarian lol. Weird but it be like that sometimes. The best thing on the menu I love to order is the black bean veggie burger. The burger is so savory. It never fails when I walk in there, veggie burger it is. I would sit here and discuss all the other items that I’ve tried but I just can’t remember how hey take because I’m stuck on the veggie burger. But the staff I’ve encountered have always been nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is in the U street area.

First time trying gyros and I didn’t even like lamb before this. The fries were seasoned well. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The owner is Racist and a bigot. There food is okay but the racism makes it impossible for me to injest. I hate the Greek spot and their ownership. I will not spend a single cent there. I wish I could give the negative 5 stars.

I may have made a mistake in ordering salmon from a Greek restaurant, but my recent meal, which also included the appetizer platter, was mushy, overcooked, and didn’t taste especially fresh. I recall having enjoyed this restaurant years ago, so something must have changed.

The Greek Spot has been around since ’06 and offers items such as dolmadakia, avgolemono, salads, a variety of sandwiches, and platters. You get greeted right away when you walk-in, where you can choose to either do a carry-out or order to dine-in(there is a dining area adjacent to the entryway). I tried the Gyro Platter, which came with a generous amount of gyro strips, a side of Greek salad(iceberg lettuce, kalamata olives, feta topped with oregano, large slices of tomatoes, and a cup of vinaigrette), orzo pasta(extremely overcooked, this heavily tomato-focused pasta was forgettable; I wished this was in a separate container, as the gyro meat was set on top of the pasta, causing it to coat and stick to the slices), sliced pita bread, and tzatziki sauce(that was very herby and chunky; I really liked the pickled onion pearl in there, giving a nice crispy crunch/spice to your meal). The gyro meat was pretty flavorful, but more on the saltier end. I really liked how the Greek salad was also plentiful and fresh, and I appreciated the nice amount of the olives and the feta crumbles. In their fridge, they had some Greek beverages and juices, as well as Boylan bottles. The place itself is cute, and while I may not get a craving for their gyros anytime soon, I’d still be curious about their moussaka and their falafels. Service was super friendly and efficient! +pickled onion pearls: D +fresh Greek salads +gyro meat = on the saltier end +extremely limited parking on 11th

Flavorful, fresh, many options ! They have a rather large menu of options not just gyros. Their have apps, sandwiches, entrée platters and the prices are really good for the amount of food you get! I got the tzatiki & Pitts(about $ 4.20) and the chicken pita wrap(I know that’s not the correct name but you know what I’m talking about). Both were very large portions and both were flavored just rite ! The tzatiki and pita came in a container so I was able to take the rest with me ! You order and it takes a bit because they make each order after you actually order it. I like that because it shows they don’t have pre-made stuff just sitting around. The seasoning on the meat wasn’t over kill and the sauce was simple. They don’t over do the sauce like most places . Friendly service and great outside patio !

I got the Gyros on Pita. The pita was fantastic but, the gyros was somewhat overbooked. It was still delicious and will definitely be going back. The fries were amazing. I asked for some feta go on top of them and they were the most delicious fries I’ve had in a while. They were crispy but not hard or soggy – if that makes any sense.

I visited the Greek Spot sort of later in the evening(8pm ish) somewhat recently and decided to order some food to go. I got the falafel sandwich, which was a pita that came with 4 falafel balls, hummus, lettuce, and diced tomatoes. That came out to about $ 7, which was slightly pricier than I’m used to paying for a falafel sandwich, but it’s DC after all. The food was ALRIGHT. Nothing I’d write home about. The pita was somewhat dry and the falafel balls were totally smushed and I’m not entirely sure there were 4 of them in the sandwich(looked like just 2). The restaurant DOES have seating, which is nice, so it’s not just a carryout. And it’s conveniently located right off U Street, so it’s a good place to stop by if you’re in the neighborhood. The experience was A-OK, but I’ll probably be interested in checking out other Greek restaurants in DC in the future.

My best friend and I came here before a concert at the 930 club. We saw it had great reviews and both of us loveee greek food! We both got a chicken kabob? Or some sort of grilled chicken. I don’t know why but it took like 20 – 30 minutes to come out AFTER we ordered. The weird thing is, there weren’t that many people in front of us(we came before the dinner rush). I don’t know what the hold up was… but we sat outside in the cold for quite some time before getting to eat. When we got the food is was bland. I really think we must have come on an off day. The salad had so many wilted veggies, and the hummus tasted like nothing. We were both sorely disappointed after seeing the glowing reviews. Especially since we waited for quite some time in anticipation. Probably won’t ever come back.

Okay after second try I can say this place is amazing. Food came faster and the food was actually not cold. The chicken lemon soup was super good and had tons of lemon. No chicken in it but we knew ahead of time. The moussaka with beef was even better than the vegetarian moussaka. Totally worth it. With four stars and over two hundred reviews, I expected a lot. First off, if you are expecting some heavy thick gyros with tons of tzatziki sauce that is thicker than sour cream then you’re in the wrong place. The food is not greasy at all. The gyros was actually decent but they do not stuff it with enough meat or veggies so buyer beware. There is a two dollar option to add extra meat if you are looking for more meat. The tzatziki sauce is OK and it is different. It must be their own family recipe. The fries were decent. I only tried a little of the vegetarian moussaka and it was cold but it was pretty delicious. Do not waste your time with the lentil soup, it is very bland, boring, and tastes like it came out of a can. The baklava was ehh. I don’t recommend it. I tried a little of the pineapple carrot cake and it was decent. all in all for the amount you are paying, I expected beyond this. They are a solid three.

I loved their gyro! It was absolutely delicious! I got the gyro platter which, upon receiving my food, I realized«gyro» refers to the meat and not the«sandwich». It’s a giant pile of gyro meat, a pita cut into 4 triangles, a salad and orzo… Yeah, a lot of food all for about $ 9, and they let me substitute the orzo for fries and my friend substitute the green salad for chick pea salad at no additional charge :-). It came with a side of tatziki sauce and salad dressing. The only slightly negative comment that I have is that I was expecting a gyro sandwich instead of what I got but believe me, once I started eating it no longer mattered. I was able to create mini gyro sandwiches with what I had. I will definitely be back soon because this place is a gem.
