Excellent place for meeting up after work. I scheduled an event here at the last minute but was able to work really well with Ashleigh, the events coordinator. She was extremely responsive and very friendly in her demeanor. I was especially impressed because she was able to make cute signs with our company logo on it — something I had not expected at all. We got great drink specials and a closed off section with couches. The atmosphere is laid-back, casual, with a small flair of elegance. Music was a mix of top40 and other genres. I have been here several times and plan to come back again. No cover. Note to gentlemen: shorts are ok, but no flip flops or tanks even in the heat of DC summers!

So im going to start with the fact that one of your regulars recommended and made reservations for us. Service was extremely bad! Its my brother and I birthday and we are here for brunch with a total of 13 people. We were seated first for a reason, and there was only one other group there when we arrived. Its been over an hour and less than half of us have our food. If our food was put in at the same time there is no reason after over an hr most of us have no food. It just doesnt make sense, and is piss poor business wise. People that came in 20 minutes to an hour after us are enjoying their meals. Ive been waiting for my blackened salmon for over an hr. My entire party is looking around like when will it be our turn. Thank god for bottomless mimosas, but to hell with this place. The hostess manager came by and asked if we were leaving soon, we had to tell her that we hadnt even eatten and thats why we arent going anywhere. By this time its been a minimum of almost 2 hrs since we came in and still no food! The waitress told me they were making my salmo twice and an hr and a half passed as other tables got their food, but myself and 6 others at my tavle had not gotten any food after 2 hrs. Unacceptable on so many levels. I spoke directly to the manager(may have been the owner) who was walking around the place in a red zip up hoody with the hood on looking very out of place and unprofessional(he was of asian decent, and most of the patrons were well dressed African Americans, so not sure why he looked like a corner hustler). He was very detached and I was told our order was almost ready vut they stopped making the food because we cancelled the order. I told him how absurd this was and that we did not cancel the order. He told me all he needs to know is if we still want the food stating«I dont care, itll be comped». As nicely as I could I explained to him that I told the hostess I wanted the food three times, and that she told me it was veing made, and that I am now telling him the same. Long story shortened, they brought me the wrong food after almost 3 hrs and 4 others just never got their food. When the bill came they were charging for food we did not get and we had to send the bill back twice. I had to walk out because my frustration was about to reach a new level. There was at least 3 other groups I spoke to there that had the same experience and spoke to the staff and manager about it. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. I will NEVER return and give this place no cheers for their horrible customer service and lack of attention. I took alot of pictures and will not promote this establishment by posting any photos.

Wow! I went to Sunday brunch at the Gryphon and boy was it a horrible experience. We had a 2:00 reservation, but didn’t get seated until 2:30. When we did get seated they put us at a table that was three table settings too few, so we had to huddle around a table that was too small. They didn’t take our order(not even our drink order) until 3:00. We got some of our appetizers by 3:30, but we never got our entrée. ATALL!!! Then they had the audacity to demand we pay an unadjusted tab! The gryphon is horribly understaffed in the front and in the kitchen. We notified the waitstaff numerous times about our service but they seemed uncaring. The gryphon is the type of place that hires its staff based on how attractive they are and not how well they can do their job. Give me a waitress that can actually take my order rather than a pin up model who thinks that they can take the orders of a table of ten people without writing down a single word anytime! Did I mention the appetizers, at least my salad, was gross? The two of us who got our salads tasted it and almost threw up! I gave it two stars because the deejay was good and the bottomless mimosas were okay, but if you’re going for anything other than that… Just don’t!

Avoid this establishment at all cost unless you enjoy your food not coming out after 1.5 hours of waiting and a female waitress wearing a singlet with her booty cheeks hanging out while handling your food and drinks. Moreover, our party was the first to sit in this establishment and place our orders. However it took at least 45 minutes for some of the plates to come out and one of the plates had to be sent back three times because they kept placing an item onbthe plate that the customer was allergic to, and they were told that. Confusingly, half of the meals were lost between the time the orders were placed and somewhere in the kitchen. As a result, four of us had to cancel our orders after waiting for them to come out for over a 1.5 hours of waiting. Moreover, we had a dirty glass that had a lip stick mark on the rim of the glass that we were expected to drink out of. My cup of coffee was inedible, it tasted like liquid cool, I had to ask for cream and one of the servers took 10 minutes to bring the heavy cream to me. When he came back, my coffee was ice cold and he had a very unhappy look on his face. Perhaps, he has the condition of «RBF», I don’t know; but it was very unappealing and disrespectful! I had to send the coffee back and have it removed from my bill. Not to mention, we observed other tables be seated, eatting their food and leave without our meals even being cooked. I felt bad for the waitress because it was likely the kitchen’s fault but this was unacceptable. Surprisingly, a manager never came over to check in with us or to see why we were unhappy until after we were here for over 2 hours of being very unhappy. Will update with details…

Worst service ever. I got my food but it was a birthday brunch for my brother and I. After 1.5 hours 3 of out of 12 in our party got their food. Even when we addressed the issue the staff said they would start making the order. Absurd right. What do you mean you’re going to start making the other orders. I forgot to mention that my group and I were the first to arrive and order by at least 20 – 30 minutes and three other tables all got their food before us. We sat for an hour and a half drinking Mimosas. I hadn’t noticed I was one of three in a group of 12 that had gotten their food. In any case it was not long before the rest of my party noted there was an issue. Someone in my group ordered an apple pie and was still waiting on it. I’ve never experienced such unacceptable service. Livid describes this experience. Aside from my group there were two other tables that walked out after not receiving their food. To make things worse the three of us really enjoyed our meals but the service and response to our concerns was more than unacceptable. We sat for more than three hours trying to wrap our heads around this debacle. One might wonder why we put up with it for so long but this is DC and it took so long to get a group of 12 people from all over together than trying to find another brunch spot without reservations was out of the question. We finally got our bill and they had the audacity to add a $ 100 tip to the bill. Dumbfounded is what I am right now. You are a business that has customers walking out because they are paying for a service that they are absolutely not receiving and you have the audacity to add gratuity to a bogus bill. If I write anymore I’ll just be rambling. In the end I will say do not come to this place if you ate used to getting what you pay for. I will never come here again and will speak out against this place every chance I get. This place almost ruined a relaxing Sunday. Worst Service ever. At least at Chen Garden everyone hit their food though it was not tasty at all. I absolutely recommend avoiding this place.

Amazing ambiance reminds of a upscale Irish bar. Its open roomy and spacious. Our bartender Chris was amazing. He was funny, friendly made recommendations and was engaging. Its not too loud would be good for a casual date. By far its one of the best bars on that block/row. Ordered the Kale salad added Salmon. The salmon was well prepared med well with a crispy outer layer(skin). Red wine selection was not the best. Its not too loud would be great for a casual date. The bathrooms were not the cleanest! If I could give this place zero stars I would. I came here for brunch with four of my friends we arrived at 2:30 pm and were seated immediately. We all got an app and entrée along with the unlimited mimosas. We didn’t get our food until 4:30TWOHOURS after we placed the order by this time we were all starving and our mimosas which were slow to be refilled couldn’t even fill that void. Our waitress comes after our apps and informs us they are out of chicken and waffles which we ordered two hours ago and that we can pick something else. Uhhh ok. So the two friends that ordered it pick other entrees all while the table next to us(which arrived after us) received their two orders of chicken and waffles. Our orders all came out at different times(at Least a half hour later) the food was lukewarm and lacking flavor the plates were overall messy and eating an omelette at five o clock wasn’t what I had in mind when I left for brunch. we spoke to a manager and he was completely rude and acted as though we were the problem and did nothing to make it right. I do no recommend this place at all there are so many better brunch spots in DC. My friends all said they would choose McDonald’s over this place you should not waste your time or money.

Like seriously, I would give this place a ¼ of a star, if I could. This was my first time at The Gryphon for brunch and it was a TERRIBLE experience. It was terrible from the jump. Our hostess got our reservation wrong so we ended up with a smaller table than request(that was fixed later on after a party decided to «walk out» on their bill.). We get to our table and the waitress was slow as all day to get the mimosas flowing. They have a fixed brunch menu, which we were not happy about, but we ordered anyway. Number 1: I’ve never paid $ 50(mimosas included in this price) for a brunch. Number 2: You had to pick TWO small plates. ITTOOKALMOST2HOURSFOROURFOODTOCOMEOUT!!!(Yes I am yelling) this is unacceptable. Like you have a fixed menu but it’s taking to the day that Trump believes that everyone is equal for our food to come out. Like WTF?! They came up with excuses that this is the first time they are trying this menu. To the manager: it’s called preparation! Y’all should’ve had that food rolling like crazy! Kitchen was back up? I CALLBULLSHIT! It should not take 2HOURSTOBRINGMESHRIMPANDGRITS! Oh and when I get my shrimp and grits, it’s not a bowl of grits with shrimp in it. It was a freakin grit«cake» with 3 shrimps on it.(Pictures) Y’all tripping!!! I went straight to the waitress and asked her not to charge me because this is ridiculous. The entire brunch was a joke. Half of our party didn’t get their entrée. They overcharged for this so called brunch. Also, they add a gratuity at the bar off top when you order drinks from the bar(Is that legal?!)! I will NEVER go here for brunch ever again. Freakin ridiculous. The only thing good was the music.

Came last night for a happy hour for my graduate school’s SGA. They worked with us very nicely, gave us the space in the back from 5:30−8pm. They even made a special drink for us based on our school mascot(the Blue Jay) which ended up being a hit! It was great for them(because more people were inclined to buy drinks to show some school pride), and it was very appropriate. The bartenders are super nice and didn’t charge me for getting a Sprite. We’ve had two happy hours here so far, and I expect we will have many more in the coming months!

I’ve been here a handful of times. each time I was pleased! Happy hour and live band– It was lit and wasn’t crowded on a weekday night! Good food at average DC prices and GREAT service from the Bartender Marcus! I don’t think the live band series lasted through the summer. Bummer! During the warmer months, the front is usually open to the street. Open air, plush couches, very seductive dungeoness vibe, but modern.(Read: swanky men’s vibe, buts sexy enough for the ladies!) Spotluck event– Spotluck events are always fun. Another one in a great place! My birthday brunch– Good food and a swanky day party after! Even though the service left a bit to be desired, it didn’t taint my total view of the place.(The waitress didn’t keep the bottomless mimosas flowing.) Great DJ’s playing sets. I think I collected a few business cards! I love finding great DJ’s! I don’t make it my business to hang in these parts that often because I like to drive to places,(you don’t drive to Dupont Circle) but when I am, this is one of my favorite spots and one of the highlights of Connecticut Avenue! I’ll be back!

Went out in DuPont on a Saturday night and the group I was with suggested we go to The Gryphon. This was my first time coming here and it was awesome! I’ve been looking for a fun night spot like this in DC instead of the older divey bar scene. The music was on point and you know the place is a hot spot because it was packed back to front. Luckily even though the line to get in was semi long my friends and I didn’t have to wait too long, always a plus. The only thing that I’d say is a «downside» about this place was the drinks seemed a little watered down. Anyways, if you are looking for a spot that has top notch music(edm with some rap and pop mixed in), fun atmosphere and lots of people this is the spot for you! I definitely plan to come back soon.

If you want to be in a club/nightlife atmosphere while eating an egg sandwich, this place is perfect for you. Their brunch here is like a day party before your day even officially starts. We came here for a birthday brunch around 1PM on a Sunday and when we walked in the DJ was already on. Everyone was dolled up, looking cute.(The women to men ratio was about 12 to 1. Not sure if it’s like that everyday. But if you are looking to be chosen, this is not the place.) The menu was really limited and I found it hard to pick something off the menu. I opted for the fish tacos. They were pretty good but a tad bit dry. The other dishes that came out looked pretty good too. I heard raving reviews about the steak and eggs from the two people that ordered it in our party. The prices were decent. I don’t know if I would come back here on my own. I am not a fan of mixing my brunch with a day party.

I came here on a Friday night and I must say it was pretty dead. The bouncer was quick with checking ids and very friendly and the venue itself is big and open. I was disappointed with the bartender though. I had a female bartender that wasn’t even that busy(compared to other bars that night) and she took her sweet time taking orders and even longer closing people out. Maybe she was new but she was at the computer for awhile after every order trying to figure out how to close them out. When it was my turn to order she was rude — I was ordering a bud light but they don’t have it so she gave me a Miller but that’s not what I ordered. I gave her almost no tip because she was so rude and all she did was open the beer and walked away. I checked my credit card statement this morning and whoever it was added money to the total. Although it wasn’t a big amount, you cannot just change the total of the signed receipt as you please. Had they charged me a lot more than what I wrote down I would have fought it but these sneaky people. Never coming back here for any drinks. The atmosphere is nice but the coat check is randomly next to the bar and the layout is weird.

So, I was here when it was a bar/seafood place and then after a beer the place ended up turning into a nightclub. It went from being a dead bar, and then Playboy bunny type servers and then the empty areas of the club became roped off for bottle service. I don’t really know how to rate this place because it has so many different personalities. Is it an upscale steak and seafood place? A happy hour bar or a kind of douche-y lounge I would never want to come back to? Somehow it’s all three.

This review is for their 1 hr Champagne Open Bar that they recently started on Friday nights. A friend of mine had already been to the event a couple times and invited me to celebrate my birthday. As long as you register online, you get to drink champagne for an hour for Free(from 10pm to 11pm)! The atmosphere was nice and it’s always nice to drink for free. The bartenders were really nice and they had the televisions on to give people sitting at the bar something to watch. Once 11pm came around, they turned off the TVs and turned up the music. The bathrooms were clean which is always a plus especially considering some of the other bathrooms I’ve seen in DC on a Friday night. I won a VIP table, and I can say that their customer service was great! Our server was attentive and constantly checking in on me and my friends. The atmosphere(again) was great, and the music had variety. I love that they didn’t blast EDM all night. I definitely plan on going to one of these champagne open bar events again.

Went to the Gryphon for a mid-week dinner with a friend. Arrived around 730 and the place was pretty empty. It seemed as though the restaurant is going for more of a nightclub vibe. Our waitress was very nice, if not missing for half of the night. It was fine, as we were catching up and werent in a rush, but probably 4 times we scanned the room looking for her to place an order, and she was nowhere to be found. More troubling was the manager having zero interest in helping us out when it was clear we had empty glasses and were attempting to make eye contact! They were setting up the space for some GW party, so everyone’s attention was on that, but there are still paying customers trying to order another drink! As for the food, we shared a few ‘social bites.’ The menu is very weird. There’s some raw bar stuff, 5 or 6 expensive cuts of meat, and then ‘social bites’ which are listed to feed«1 – 3 people.» WHAT? They are basically tapas sized portions of things, but 1 – 3 people is a big difference. We were plenty full after ordering 4 things. The brussels sprouts are delicious, and we both liked the ceviche. I would skip the octopus if going again, and the shrimp and grits was fine, nothing out of this world. I would go back to the Gryphon for sure, I actually like how empty it was, Ive heard it can get packed!

I Always drove by this place and was curious to try it out. I walked in on a Sat. night around 9pm. I was asked If I had reservations I said no, The hostess was able to accommodate without a problem. The server was energetic and funny in a professional way. I advised him to try out stand up. The ambience was moderate and did not have to raise my voice for a conversation. I ordered the Fried Alligator & Waffles and a order of Lobster Fried Quinoa. I have tried alligator before in FL and LA and was surprised to see it being served in DC. It tasted like spicey chicken. My only complaint on this dish was that waffle was a like mini-waffle something that EGGO makes. The Lobster Quinoa was tasty and was served with a decorative hollow shell on top. They encourage you to order at least 2 dishes and share. I would come next time but on happy hour or with a groupon or if Im a special occasion.

The food here was surprisingly among the best I’ve had in DC! It’s a bit pricey for what it is, but we went with a groupon. They also have various specials(half price larger cuts some day during the week– I forget, because our server didn’t tell us. More on that later) as well as a good happy hour deal many others mentioned. But the service was pretty terrible. I rarely complain about service but we waited FOREVER to get a last drink or our check– we had to chase down the servers to get anything. We were getting eyeballed hard by the bus boy, who was TOO on top of his game. Then they brought the wrong drink. Then, while my date took a few steps from the table to show me the restroom, that over-eager bus boy cleared my still-full drink, when we hadn’t yet paid. That food though.

If you want great food and a party atmosphere then look no further because The Gryphon has what you’ve been looking for. I come here often and I have always enjoyed myself every time I’ve came. I typically get there early because this place will get packed fast. The must try on the brunch menu are the steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, and french toast. I forgot to mention that they do have bottomless mimosa’s. Sitting at the bar area for me is the best location because of the huge televisions that are all on different sport channels. I’m sure whatever sporting event is on at the time will be shown on one of the many big screens. All of the staff are always kind and very attentive, but I have to tip my hat to Jessie(bartender) because she waited my table along with serving drinks to customers at the bar without missing a beat. I was with a party of 10 sitting in the bar area and without hesitation she made sure everyone was taken care of. I really appreciate Jessie and the rest of the staff for making our experience a great one as usual. Like The Terminator would say… «I’ll be back!!!»

Gryphon does an outstanding job of blending loungey nightlife with a quality restaurant. It’s always a fun, crowded place to go on Saturday nights, with a well-dressed crowd. It gets five stars for having the hard-to-achieve combination of fun nightlife AND nice ambiance AND good food AND great service. I’ve eaten dinner here twice and brunch once and been surprisingly impressed with the food! The raw bar is very fresh(try the lobster app if you feel like indulging!). The small plates are also really tasty. Some standouts were the wet-aged bistro filet and the parmesan brussel sprouts. The brunch was also terrific when I went! A lot of people think of Gryphon only as a pseudo-clubby nightlife spot but I would really recommend coming during dinner or happy hours to give the food a try. Service the last time i went was also impeccable… Our waitress, Radiance(cool name!), actually deserves an extra star all on her own. She was very friendly and smiled so much that it was contagious. She was knowledgeable about the menu, quick with everything, and checked on us just enough — we were super impressed. Note: Gryphon is pretty dark inside and can be on the louder side later in the evenings with music playing(when we went there was a private event going on in the back area and it was SUPER loud), so keep that in mind for your dinner!

This is a nightlife review. There are certain things I tend to judge nightlife places by, the combination of music, luxurious feel, the right crowd energy and fun, approachable people of all shapes/sizes. This place had solid music, mostly hip hop at the time I was there. The venue was nice, not super spacious but good enough. The age of the packed spacious super clubs in DC are over. I liked the energy, the people were attractive and seemed as approachable as your normal DC night life spot, slightly uppity. IMO yelling over music is pointless, let’s get drunk, dance and exchange pleasantries on our way to some late night eats. Of the two vibes I’d say more uppity. My single issue with this place is the old door guy. This guy keeps a line outside, which I don’t like but understand, however he let’s a bunch of his VIP’s in. He told me I need two more people to leave but then let in a party of six in, 4 of which were guys… TLDR The venue isn’t bad but this place isn’t worth the wait in line for night life. No cover though so if you get there early(by 11:30) after a solid pre-game I don’t think this place is a horrible move, I’ve just experienced better. P.S. I’ve been here on a couple occasions at night and I had about the same experience so my review has some statistical significance I think.

Came here Friday night around 7ish for dinner. Ambiance and service were great, the hostesses were friendly and efficient and Radiance, our server, was awesome-attentive and personable! The food was just okay, which was surprising because the menu seemed so simply ambitious. I had shrimp and grits, short ribs with radishes, and a caesar salad-none of which wow’d me in the least. Everything lacked flavor but the short ribs were cooked nicely. The bread pudding was the best thing I had, not as warm as I would have liked but surprisingly tasty topped with creamy gelato. Overall I did enjoy myself so I’d go back to give the chef another try and get more of that yummy bread pudding!

I came here last night to party. The tables for the bottle service are so clustered together. It was so stressful getting in and out of the table because the amount of people. The club is so small in comparison to the clubs near by. When you walk in the club it is classy. However, the bar, dance floor and tables are all in eyes view. The bathrooms are clean. It’s nice to go to a clean bathroom. The bathrooms are in the back of the club. I know they are a restaurant by day and a night club by night. So I can see why the club is on the smaller end. My review is definitely only for the night club. The lines are so hectic. My sister and I went in through the VIP line and even the VIP line was so hectic. It took a good 10 minutes to get into the club. It’s just way too disorganized.

Great HH!!! The small plates were all so delish! We ordered wine so the house Cabernet was great and my bf enjoyed his merlot. Love the dark look of the décor. They have plenty of TV screens to catch sports. We ordered before the crowd at around 5. About 530 or 6 the crowd started pouring in. The customer service was stellar as well. We ordered– pork belly, shrimp cocktail, skirt steak with bone marrow, fried alligator and waffles, and kale salad. ALL very delicious. The kale salad was so good I plan to try and replicate it at home! The shrimp cocktail was fresh and tasty. The skirt steak was tender and flavorful. I could go on and on about this place. Oh and you get complimentary olive oil potato chips which weren’t bad either. I def will be returning here for HHs on the future!

My partner and I had a pretty great experience here. Atmosphere We sat on the platform lower than the bar, so I got my intimate romantic atmosphere, but my boyfriend could still kinda watch sports on the TV… And our table was a little small, but the staggered arrival of the dishes made everything fit perfect. The chairs were also really comfy. Service Our server was nice, and they exchanged our plates for new ones often it seemed. One lady was very very apologetic because she had taken our plates and forgot to bring them back which was all cool with us. The food!!! Ok Im writing this a little after the fact so I dont remember everything. Here’s what was memorable: Chips– they brought us the on the house basket of truffle chips. They were so delicious and crunchy. Slightly on the oily side, but still amazing. Kale salad– amazing. The kale had ZERO bitterness, and the cheese, dried blueberries, candied pineapple Tuna tartare with lotus root-awesome! The fried lotus root was chippy but different from anything I’ve ever tasted. The tuna was fresh and had GREAT flavor. Its rare that I have tartare not overpowered by soy sauce flavor Will definitely be back! The portion sizes are pretty good and I heard their happy hours are VERY good.

Awesome happy hour deals and environment. If you’re looking for a place for you and your group to relax, spread out a bit and enjoy the raw bar specials this would be the perfect place for after work drinks. Not only did I enjoy the 50% wine, but I was impressed by the quality of my tannin laced bevies. Plus, 50% off raw bar menu items between 4−7pm, Tuesday — Friday is a hell of a deal. Our assortment of a dozen, incredibly fresh, oysters only set us back a cool $ 15. I also had the chance recently to check out their brunch and day party on Sundays. Although I’m sure promoters may vary in the future, currently Sundays consist of brunch, football games and a DJ playing the best in hip hop, club bangers. If you’re not into that, then it’s probably not the ideal time for you to go. But if that’s your thing, turn up!

Stopped by last month while in town and really enjoyed this place. The list of entrees wasn’t extensive, but options for social bites, which individually cost less, was. My friend and I tried 7 different items which our small table in the front patio couldn’t accommodate. The staff was friendly and able to provide thorough recommendations which seemed honest. While service was overall good, there was a downfall… we had to remind different employees at different times to bring items requested(i.e.; steak knife, the drink, etc.). The items we had included: CRISPYPORKBELLY: this fancy eggs Benedict was the highlight of my night. Pork belly on thin crispy toast topped with(non-runny) poached egg. A savory sauce w/slight kick and pork rinds also on the plate. The pork rinds didn’t add much value here, but the sauce did. CRISPYOYSTERS: 3 decently sized pieces of deep fried oysters served with a spicy sauce drizzled on(very lightly). Overall good. ENDIVESANDFRISEESALAD: though bitter at times, enjoyed it especially the bites that included crumbled blue cheese and bacon(which reduced/masked the bitterness). I added the pork rinds from the pork belly dish to add texture. WETAGEDBISTROFILET: deliciously sliced steak coated in béarnaise sauce, but I must admit the speck ham(looked like bacon) made the dish a bit salty. Dish included brussel sprouts with were also good(especially with the sauce). SNAKERIVERFARMSWAGYUSKIRTSTEAK: flavor was good, but texture was so chewy my friend sent it back(yes I tasted it). It was like chewing gum. As for the bone marrow it came with I didn’t to taste it, but she liked it. Would I recommend this place… for the social bites, YES! I speak to ambiance, drinks, the scene, etc. I just know the food was good. Check out the pics posted of the above for visual reference.

I’m going to give this 4.5 stars mostly because I feel like their restaurant week menu ended up being more expensive than their regular prices. Wish I would’ve done more research on that, but what can you do. Despite this, I’m really glad I came here. It’s a trendy casual kinda place and a very nice happy hour spot. Their restaurant week menu looked fantastic and it lived up to their descriptions. Mad props to our server Amber too. If you have her I highly suggest you listen to her recommendation. For my 3 courses I ordered 2⁄3 that she recommended and the one I didn’t go with ended up being a big mistake. So let’s go through my meal shall we: First course– gazpacho with grilled octopus. I absolutely love octopus, so to see it in a gazpacho was amazing. It was grilled perfectly and was very flavorful. I would’ve liked more octopus in it because I love it, but I thought the amount already in it was a reasonable portion. The flavors in the rest of the gazpacho were on point as well. Second course– Prosciutto Wrapped Monkfish with asparagus, chilies, black eyed peas, and champagne butter. Everything about that description made my mouth water, and Amber said it was her favorite on the menu. The prosciutto was crisped perfectly and it cut well with the monkfish. Normally I find the wrapping on meats to kinda fall apart while you’re cutting them, but that was not the case here. This was my first monkfish experience, and I thought it was very flavorful and paired with the prosciutto perfectly. The champagne butter at the bottom of the plate was fantastic and the blacked eyed peas & asparagus were also perfect for this dish. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would buy that again in a heartbeat. Third course(where I didn’t listen to Amber) — Bread Pudding/Chocolate Tort I love chocolate, but if bread pudding’s on the menu, I have to try it. I ordered the bread pudding, and that was a major let down after 2 amazing courses. The mountain of ice cream was definitely covering the dry bread pudding underneath it. It also wasn’t sweet at all. After a few bites, Amber came back and asked what I thought about it & I told her I wasn’t a fan, so she offered to switch it for the Chocolate Tort, which she had originally recommended. SOGOOD! I could’ve done without the berry compote, but it did add a nice fruity flavor. I definitely enjoyed my experience here & will have to come back again in the near future. Whether you make it here for restaurant week or any time after, it’s well worth the trip!
