We found the Ivy Mansion through a Groupon deal and stayed here for 2 nights. It’s a really cute building that’s walking distance to the Dupont Circle metro station, as well as plenty of restaurants and shops. Our host, Dana, was very friendly and, since our sight-seeing plans were kind of up-in-the-air, gave us lots of good advice on places to go and things to see. The room was really cute and clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable — one of those adjustable tempurpedic mattresses. I’m not sure if every room has one or if it was just our room, but it sure made it hard to want to get out of bed. There is free wi-fi and continental breakfast downstairs in the morning. This place is a great alternative to the pricey hotels around DC — it has a private, relaxing feel and yet is close enough to the Metro that it is also pretty convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Ivy Mansion was perfect for our business stay, and at less than half the price others at the convention were paying. Two blocks from the Metro, in the middle of a lovely neighborhood bounded on one side by nice shops and excellent ethnic restaurants and on the other by tree-lined streets full of embassies, it was an excellent home base for both my husband’s convention and my tourist fun. Even during the nastiest cold rain March could throw at us, we had no trouble getting around. Dana, our hostess, was hospitable to begin with and a friend by the end of the week, She asked what we were interested in seeing and located information, checked activities, and even made phone calls to make sure we had the best experience possible. Her recommendations were spot-on. We stayed in the very spacious second-floor bedroom, which was beautiful, calm and quiet with a bed comfortable enough to suit my very picky husband, who’s had back surgery. We felt welcome and at home, much as if we were part of the neighborhood. Everyone we talked to at the meeting was envious as they went back to their identical soulless hotel rooms on the 14th floor. For which they paid through the nose. We will be back.

I heart the Ivy Mansion. =) The building is lovely, and located very close to the metro, which is a big plus.(Sunday, there was a Farmers’ Market at the Dupont Metro!) The neighborhood is quiet, despite being just off a busy street, and I slept very well there. I stayed in one of the queen bedrooms; it was spacious and comfortable. The hostess was very welcoming and solicitous of my comfort, but gave me my space to come and go and enjoy the city. I highly recommend the Ivy Mansion. I’ll stay there again, myself, and tell all my friends to stay there.

We rented the lower level apartment for 5 nights in November 2009. Full kitchen, which we only used for making coffee. Great location, about 3 blocks from the northern escalator at Du Pont Circle. Plenty of room to spread out, it was just my wife and I but 6 could get cozy in here and 4 could be comfortable. TV, free wireless internet, excellent location and a pleasant hostess. The basement apartment is self sufficient, so we did not have the«bed and breakfast» experience of sharing, but that’s OK for us. We had our own full bath, our own exterior entrance, etc. Rates vary, but this was such a better deal than any hotel room, how can you go wrong?
