So an update to my earlier post…and possibly a testament to the power of social media. After speaking with the owner, who also read my earlier review, she has worked diligently and effectively to «fix» the situation. She has communicated, she has taken responsibility, and most importantly she has followed through. I had some concerns about changing my rating but I think it important to remember people make mistakes and how they respond and take responsibility is more important than the original error. The owner cares enough to personally handle it, and more importantly she cares about her reputation. Of the pieces we have received they are stunning and absolutely meet our expectations. We still haven’t received all the furniture itself but I’m confident that we will and it will be to the quality that we like. I will update my posting at that time. For the time being I have«upgraded them from 1 star to 3. Below is the original post. My experience with the design team from Theodores has been less than stellar. The young lady who«helped» us was consistently late, was consistently loose with the truth, and managed to consistently miss deadlines. When you pay a premium, the expectation is premium quality and premium service. The furniture is quality, the service is awful. The details: — They missed their own deadline by over 10 weeks(the initial estimate was 4 – 6 weeks) — They are constantly late to meetings(by over 2 hours in one instance) — When they are late, she lied about the reason Overall awful and not responsible. Everything can’t be everyone else’s fault!

I emailed Theodores last week regarding the American Leather sleeper sofas they sell. I immediately received a response from Janet Kanter and we made a plan for me to stop by over the weekend to see the models and discuss more. Once I arrived, I was immediately waited on and Janet was so helpful, friendly, and easy to talk to. It’s a bit hard to explain but the level of attentiveness Janet and her colleagues demonstrated made me really feel that she cared about me finding the right sofa. I have visited several furniture stores in my current hunt and this was by far the most attentiveness I’ve received! And it’s clear she knows her stuff and gets excited helping you think through what you need. In the end, I chose a different sofa at a different store but it wasn’t because of the customer service that’s for sure. I was just so appreciative of the time and care she took that I wanted others to know about Theodores and their high level of customer service. When I need furniture in the future, I will start there first for sure!

Wow — astounded to see so many negative reviews, and a bit perplexed as to why all the positive reviews have been removed by the Unilocal filter. I purchased my first piece from Theodores — a love seat — in 1992, and it is still in terrific shape. When moving to a new house in 1999 I purchased a great living room couch, very comfortable accent chairs, and a glass and chrome desk that still looks cutting edge. The prices were on the higher end, but if you want unique pieces with superior quality you should expect to pay a bit more. Over the years I’ve picked up additional accent tables and shelving on clearance — great deals. I’m a value shopper — I have as much furniture, lighting, and accent pieces from the Crate & Barrel Outlet Store, eBay, , Home Depot and Target as I do from Christophers. The mix is great. I’ve spent 2 months looking all over the web for a new chaise lounge and sectional — done the price comparisons, assessed the fabric options, etc — and I’ll be purchasing again from Theodores.

So far we’re happy with our experience. Yes, the prices are high, but if you’re buying high-end furniture, you are paying for what you get. We ended up liking the upholstery on the floor model so our order was easy, couch, pick a size, get the same upholstery as the floor model — DONE. Well, except that we have to wait 16 weeks, YESSIXTEENWEEKS, to get our couch. That seems like an absurdly long time, but we really liked the couch so we’re trying to be patient with the waiting.

Beautiful furniture. WAYYY Expensive pricing. Horrible customer service. I tend to shop at higher end places and am willing to spend a little more for a product with great customer service for example… Nordstroms. This is not the case with Theodore’s. I would never recommend purchasing pieces here. If I could have given then ½ a star I would have! Buyers beware!

If you like modern furniture… and I mean REALLY modern furniture and you have a really good job — then you should cruise over to Wisconsin for a visit. The store is large and carries a huge array of furniture, lighting and accessories. For a very long time I was completely in love with a not-so-contemporary butter yellow leather sofa(soft as butter too) stuffed with down that was for sale. Unfortunately my wallet won out and the sofa stayed at Theodore’s. The prices are high here(hence the 3 stars) and often the pieces aren’t worth the prices. Additionally, much of the merchandise they feature is difficult to picture in anyone’s house unless your last name is Jetson.
