First Congregational Church

Pastor Cheryl Anderson is the reason we attend holiday services at this church. She’s wonderful, worldly, and brilliant.

A really great community of people. They always say «no matter who you are or where you’re from, you are welcome here,» and they walk the talk.
Thoughtful, respectful, positive feeling no matter who you are. Young and hipster? Same-​sex couple? Older couple/​single? Young family? You’ll find them all, and they all blend together, support each other, and do great things in the community.
After searching for a church to attend, I went to a number of them locally — some felt sad, others stodgy, some like they were in another era, and others felt pretty dead. I can see why this place is different — it’s tradition blended with modern thought, with a bent toward kindness/​compassion towards others, your community, etc…
They have a great «coffee hour» they do after the church service that takes place on the green (or indoors during winter), where people just talk, have coffee and snacks and «catch up» or get to know new people.
If you’re in the market to find a great church community, and don’t want a place that feels like it’s dying… give it a shot.
