Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois

I’m going to echo the previous reviewer’s comments about ambiance. The store is not harshly lit like other Goodwills in the area (East Peoria and the Peoria location on War Memorial). It has nice, comfortably soft lighting.
The lack of obnoxious music is also a big plus in my book. I don’t know why all the other stores keep something blasting at all times.
However, the best part about the Washington Goodwill is their book setup. As you walk in the doors, the book section is straight back, tucked into its own corner nook. This is a HUGE step up from other Goodwill’s in the area, who put the books directly on a highly trafficked aisle. The amount of cart dodging I have to do to browse the book sections in East Peoria and Peoria is crazy. I’m throwing out «excuse me’s» and «I’m sorry’s» left and right.
The book nook in the Washington store is completely out of the way; I can browse at my leisure without the hassle of having to apologize and move constantly.
Furthermore, their selection is pretty good. I stop in about every 3 weeks and always find 3~4 books worth snatching up.
On a non-​book note, this store has a nice donation drop off at their back door. Not all the area Goodwill’s have a donation drop off (ie. East Peoria); so, if you are looking to de-​clutter your house, consider the Washington Goodwill a viable drop off option.
