A great little discovery in Washingon, Missouri as we follow the Lewis & Clark Trail across the northern U.S., seeking locally roasted coffee(among other things!) along the way. From the outside this shop doesn’t say«great local coffee here!» — it looks and is a sweet gift and souvenir shop, but has a good selection of coffees as well. It’s fun to browse the store while your coffee is being prepared; and, there’s a carafe of the day’s selection available so you can pour yourself a sample before you order. Though«Flat Kitty» is an unusual brand name choice, the owner has done a nice job of selecting a variety of coffees to offer. A great short stop by the Missouri River!

If you love flavored coffees, you HAVE to go here. They have more flavors than I’ve ever seen. Ever. They just might have over 30+ flavors, I’m not kidding. They roast it in house(so the shop itself smells awesome) and will also grind it for you in this awesome antique grinder if you choose, or you can take it home whole bean. I highly recommend the Toasted Southern Pecan or the Crème Brulee. If you prefer tea, they have a variety of flavors of loose leaf tea too. They also make bags of spices, candies, their own caramels, and carry a variety of cute decorations, little gifts, and generally nifty things. It’s a great shop!
