We decided to eat at a new place for breakfast this morning so we went to Lukas. What a mistake. Our first clue should have been the fact that it was 8:30 on a Saturday morning and there were only 3 cars in the parking lot. The food was bad. We ordered the breakfast special and the eggs were very watery and under cooked. The bacon and ham were both awful. The ham had a bunch of fat and I couldn’t eat half of it. Even the orange juice tasted peculiar, like it was cheap stuff. The service was good and the waitress was nice. Do yourself a favor and don’t eat here.

Ever since Jerry’s left many years ago, this spot has been a kind of revolving door of restaurants. The one that was there right after Jerry’s was decent, but nothing else has been too good. There never seems to be anybody at it in its current incarnation, but last night when I was driving by, it was packed, so I thought maybe it was good & I decided to try it for breakfast. Well, there were only a couple cars when i got there, which I thought was odd for 10:30 on a Saturday morning. I noticed the specials plastered on the front window right away & opted for the 2 eggs with meat, toast & hash browns for $ 3.49 I specifically said I wanted the eggs scrambled & well-done, that i like therm really dry & starting to turn brown. They came out wet. Sent them back & they were still not dry enough for me, but I tried to eat them. The bacon was kind of anemic-looking & under-cooked for my taste — it was floppy rather than crisp. The hashbrowns were cooked ok(the waitress asked if I wanted them well done & I said yes) but were greasy & the toast was obviously a lower quality rye; I’m not positive that it WAS rye & not whole wheat! And the coffee was bitter. Oh, and I bit something that was so hard that I almost thought I broke a tooth.(Fortunately, I didn’t.) I like to add new restaurants to my repertoire, but in this case, I really should’ve stuck with what I already knew.

Our first visit here was great. The service was quick, the omelettes were very tasty — a wonderful experience. However, our visit here over this past weekend wasn’t as stellar. The service was bad, thought I think the waitress was a new hire. She wasn’t good on refills at all and talked very quiet(hard to understand). We decided to try their hummus plate here. You get a big plate of hummus with no flavor at all and a TON of oil on the top. Along with 2 small pitas which had no flavor either. We added a lot of salt and pepper to make the hummus somewhat edible. After using the pitas for the hummus, we still had about ¾ of a plate of hummus to eat. Blah. The entrees were not much better. We both ordered he Chicken Parmesan — they make it without breaded chicken, so we wanted to give it a try. It was very bland and you could tell the chicken breast was frozen. It was served on a bed of spaghetti pasta — which was overcooked and there wasn’t enough sauce for the amount of pasta on the plate. I didn’t end up eating the pasta because it was very sticky and hard to stomach. I think we will just stick with breakfast on our next visit here…
