The best eggplant, chicken cutlet and meatballs. Sauce is heavenly too. This place is wonderful. They could be a full size restaurant with the quality of food that they offer.

One of the best sub places around. Everything is so fresh and homemade! Moved away from the area and miss this place!

Yes 5 stars. That pic was not staged… it happened. I saw it happen. By Emilio’s own hands(also depicted). This quaint little place is just about the last of the mom and pop shops around, and literally is Mom and Pop. Of the many perfect delectables here, clearly the Italian(sub) and the Chicken Noodle soup are direct descendants of «mom’s» zeroeth generation American, Naples Italy upbringing(Emilio’s wife and… well…the run of the place). No pizza here, capisce? Emilio, how come her name is not in that long title… must’ve run out of brick façade. Try it. Love it. Repeat.

Great food and friendly owners. A true neighborhood gem. We got the meatball sub and chicken cutlet sub — sauce is awesome. Chicken was freshly made, didn’t taste greasy at all. Meatball was moist and flavorful.

Amazing. Only complaint is that this family run spot is not open as much as I’d like and doesn’t deliver. Top steak and cheese from here to Albuquerque.

The reviews of this place got my hopes way up, and they were shot down as quick as the oil from my first bite dribbled down my chin and onto the plate. Hubby and I were cutting through the neighborhood coming back from target so I looked on Unilocal to find a nearby sandwich shop. A few people raved about Italian Subs, not sure why. There was probably 2oz of meat consisting of only Mortadella and Salami. There was more oil then there was meat. $ 16 for a small and a large, I was very disappointed. Not sure what all the hype is about.

Outstanding and hopefully this will be on their menu. I was telling the owner –that i wanted an Eggplant but without sauce and just lettuce, tomato, etc., She told me about a sandwich her mother made for her growing up in Italy where she took eggplant with thin sliced tomatos, olive oil, and provolone. There may be one other ingredient– i’m thinking a little garlic. but It was absolutely delicious. Oh and the eggpant is fresh… When you go ask the owner for her mothers eggplant sandwich. great place!

Everybody calm down These are probably the best hot subs in Watertown, that is far from a compliment, but it is what it is. Yes the chicken parm sub is above average. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it’s good. I think some reviewers think that they pluck chickens in the back — their patties are frozen, they are just better than average frozen patties. I like their meatball sub, they are legitimately homemade. Their sauce is nice as well, it has a subtle non-overpowering flavor and it’s not chunky, I like it. Another plus about the meatballs, they give you like 5 or 6FULLMEATBALLS, there is nothing worse than when a sub place takes a couple of meatballs and cuts them up. It’s a nice mom and pop style sub shop, a very nice family runs it. Not too many businesses exist like this anymore. So yes, above avg hot subs, bet hot subs in Watertown but not the world.

I’ve been going to Emilio’s since I moved here in 1992, and the food is ALWAYS amazing! Emilio’s serves the best chicken cutlet I’ve ever had, and their sauce(gravy ;) is always perfect. The Leone’s also catered my wedding party, and all of the food was hot, and delicious!

I’ve been going here for almost 20 years and I’ve never had a bad meal. Chicken cutlet is the best in town, although a bit messy but so worth it. Even when they’re busy the food comes out hot and fast with no compromise on quality. If you like little mom & pop italian food joints you gotta try this place. buon appetito tutti!

This place is a pure Italian kitchen. Italian owned by a local family and all your favorite Italian dishes. it sits at the corner of Bigelow Ave and Mt Auburn street. It’s small enough that you may miss it. But once you visit, you’ll never forget it’s there. Everyone’s favorite item there is their chicken cutlet sub. Made with their homemade marina sauce provolone and mozzarella cheese. Easily one of the best in town. The chicken cutlets are perfectly crisp and fresh and the sub can be a bit messy, but so worth it. They have great sides there to like chicken fingers and fries. The steak n cheese is pretty good as well. Great seasoning they add to it and perfectly cut. If your looking for some real homemade cooking and nice Italian flavor stop on in and grab a bite to eat. Nice family and never a wait for food. Prices are very reasonable and most at a bargain. Small little place, few tables there to eat if you so desire. Laundromat next door to do your laundry, another reason to stop on in and help time go by. Also a liquor store on the other side as well. Perfect spot right of the mbta 71 bus at Bigelow Ave.

Absolutely fantastic sandwiches. My family and I have been going there since it opened. Our favorites are the chicken cutlet(with marinara sauce), eggplant parm., and Italian(with hot peppers!). Warm, friendly, hard-working proprietors make Emilio’s all the more a pleasure.

I tried this place because people from work raved about it. They weren’t wrong. A good sandwich shop in my mind is determined by the state of their italian sub. This was made perfectly. It is up there with one of the best italian subs I’ve had recently. So far, Watertown has been pretty good in regards to Italian Subs, and Emilo’s is no exception.

Dee is so right! Best chicken cutlet ever! Made with fresh, real chicken; lightly breaded and not oily or greasy. Excellent bread. The meatballs are also superb, better than my ex-mother-in-law’s. The place has been there for more than 25 years, it’s just a little family-owned hole in the wall place, very clean, very old-school with no website, fresh ingredients, and very reasonable prices. And Emilio and his wife are very nice. One caveat… if you are in a hurry, call ahead. This is not fast food, it’s really good Italian food worth waiting for while Emilio does his thing.

Been coming here off and on for many years. Family owned shop, with generous portions. I always get their Steak and cheese, my brother loves their chicken cutlets, subs and meals.

You can always tell a good family-owned sub shop when the husband & wife team are bickering with each other whilst sharing the task of fixing your lunch. One of the best Italian subs around(extra hots, no tomatoes!) and it always feels as if it is made with love even though they probably crank out dozens of them per day. The meats are good quality and never the slimy, sub-par meats that many places use to cut costs. Bread is always fresh and I never fail to smile when Mrs. Emilio sprinkles her oregano over the sandwich before wrapping it up in crisp white paper.

Best chicken cutlet sub in existence. Wonderful family-owned place. You need to go here. You will never see fried chicken in sauce the same way again. *Salivates thinking about the lusciousness of this sandwich* A long-time favorite of mine and one I try to visit whenever I’m in mum’s neighborhood. Go!

First of all, Kenny M from Newton deserves an ol’ fashioned I-talian dope slap. EMILIO’S ISOLDSCHOOL — and the BEST Italian sub this side of the north end. Emilio and his wife are WONDERFUL(chat with Emilio about the Bruins sometime). Did I mention how good their Italian sub is? Spongy bread right out of a paper bag(fresh daily by the looks of it) and, quite often, fresh sliced cold cuts for the sandwich. They make their own chicken salad daily(sometimes more than once a day) and the portions are HUGE while the price is tiny! Yeah, they’re closed on Sunday because the entire staff is Emilio and his wife and deserve a day off once in a while. Sorry, I have to defend my fellow paisans from Gaeda…
