Lorri is great! This was my second time here. First time was not the best experience; my stylist did not truly listen to the type of cut I wanted and I even had pictures. She also needed to sharpen her thinning shears and razor. It was painful and the opposite of relaxing. Today I had Lorri and I felt at ease right away with her. She has over 30 years experience and still loves what she does. I showed her a picture and she got right to work with a perfect shampoo followed by a thorough haircut. I was never offered a blow dry which was a bummer because then I had to go home and style my own hair but I’m pretty happy with the cut. I would have given 5 stars had my first experience been better and I also wish someone would have acknowledged me when I first walked in. I stood at the desk for a good 3 minutes before 2 people at the desk even looked at me. But then a friendly face said she’d be right with me. I should also mention I did not have an appointment and was given a half hour wait time which was spot on and paid $ 32 for my cut.

i was rushing yesterday to a job interview from a consulting gig, i had several deadlines in one day, ubering from place to place, it was one of those days where you are late for a production shoot, you leave your house with clean but unstyled hair, spill coffee on yourself, you forget your phone charger at home, etc. i literally walked up and down the street looking for a hair salon for a wash and blow dry, to get ready for an interview. I had no appointment. I walked into Salon Sama, and Lorrianne was at the reception desk, she kindly told me that they are booked, i guess she saw the devastation on my face as I added, could I pay you to just wash it and let me blow dry it on my own in your salon? she stood up «come on back». she expertly washed my hair, conditioned, and then got to work. I have never met her before, and yet, lie a total pro, she understood immediately, who I was and what I wanted, I’m 52, i dont like the straight look of younger women, she gave me a beautiful bouncy smooth and wavy feminine and professional look. My spirits were raised. i felt like myself again. I nailed the interview too. The price was so so reasonable! I am going back to Lorieanne,(especially since I had no cash to tip her) and i am bringing my teen daughter there too. what a sweet friendly and professional salon. No pretense. Just good hair. Thank you Lorieanne.

I’ve started going to see Michelle for balayage highlights and layers since this winter and am super happy with her results. As a wannabe blonde, its so hard to get it to look natural but she able to do it! I love the color and because it’s not harsh foils, i can go much longer without having to get my roots done. My boss also converted to Michelle within a week of seeing my latest cut and color. My new spot 100%!

Kristin rocks! She has been cutting my hair for years since I moved to Watertown and I highly recommend her! The whole staff at Salon Sama are super talented and incredibly friendly. You can’t beat the prices either! Love this place!

I went to this place after a last minute cancellation at my usual salon. I don’t need«super fancy’ or anything but i wasn’t prepared for this. It felt much more like a «men’s hair place» than a salon, or a Super Cuts. Anyways, the person who did my hair handed me a stack of foils and a plastic board to slide them onto and(having never met me) announces«we believe in client participation here». Well, I work 50 hour weeks and didnt want to participate(especially since i’m PAYING for a service), I really just wanted to veg out for an hour. Not an option… and the«board to the scalp» approach for highlights leaves a VERY definitive regrowth line. I will not go back nor would I ever reccomend. Definitely a disappointment.

I’ve been going to Kristen for a few years now. She’s awesome. She’s honest if I want something my hair will not do, she does the best color combos when I want something fun and she’s always a pleasure. Highly recommended!

Salon Sama is amazing… professional, friendly and attentive to their clients’ needs! I’d rather have my hair cut with hedge-clippers than go anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

I was here about a year ago(I don’t really do Unilocal but it is worth it to write this) and got my hair cut by Elaine. I have curly hair that’s hard to cut in a way that I like and she’s literally the only person who’s ever given me a haircut that I went home and whether I did it straight or curly, it actually achieved the results I wanted. Unfortunately, I just called since I’ll be back in Mass next week and turns out she’s not there anymore :-(Does anyone know where Elaine who was here a year ago is?!

The cuts I received from Michelle were generally top-notch(with the exception of once when one side was an inch longer than the other), but the rest of the experience was so bad, that I am willing to venture into unexplored haircutting territory to get away from the abuse. So, you know it’s bad. One time, she refused to cut my hair because I got stuck behind a broken-down car and was ten minute late for my cut. It turns out that she schedules people in overlapping 15 minute intervals(presumably so she can see more clients per hour). So, if you’re late, no service Turns out things get worse if SHE is slightly off schedule. Twice they called the day of my appointment to reschedule me to a time that would be more conventient FORTHEM. The last time, they wanted to bump my appointment an hour and fifteen minutes later because«Michelle was running behind.» I asked if she was running an hour behind, and I got a total run-around from the receptionist. Clearly, they wanted to me to accommodate them to make the rest of their morning go smoothly. I make appointments so that I don’t HAVE to come back an hour later. And I certainly don’t enjoy being lied to or manipulated by the recpetionist because they are trying to cram too many people in. Writing this, I’m embarrassed that I kept going back for the abuse so many times. I guess I’m simply that nervous about trying a new place!

I’ve gotten my hair cut 3 times at Salon Sama. I’ve had Lorri and Laurieann. I saw Laurieann because Lorri doesn’t work on Fridays and I needed my haircut badly, Lorri is my ‘usual’ hair dresser there. I find Lorri very helpful and knowledgeable. She noticed some things in my hair right away, that I was a bad girl and I didn’t put stuff in my hair before blow-drying it, I know BIGNONO. I’ve gotten better at that and I’ve actually seen improvement and shine in my hair. She never tries to sell me products or things at the salon. Their hours are very accommodating to people that work 9 – 5 jobs. And if your lucky you maybe able to score a hair cut on a saturday afternoon, thanks to the occasional cancelation! Although it says ‘walk-ins welcome’ on their door I would make an appointment before walking in.

First off I’m a guy, and my hair is not fancy, but I do enjoy a well done haircut. I guess it comes from having a mother who was a beautician. Anyhow, after trying to get into the«Great Cuts» down the street once or twice for my «convenience» and seeing that the wait was well over an hour long I decided to just make an appointment at Salon Sama. Decision well made. My stylist was Kristen and she gave me a perfect cut right off the bat. I told her what I wanted and she did exactly that. She takes her time, doesn’t rush and gets it right. She once even squeezed me in in between appointments after I had overslept and missed my appointment an hour earlier. I’ve been going to Kristen for a year now and she’s been rock solid every time I go in for a cut. I’ll gladly pay a few extra bucks and make an appointment from here on out.

My last hairdresser didn’t seem to know how to do the cut I wanted so this time I tried Salon Sama. I was impressed that they were able to get me an appointment within a couple days and their hours are fantastic(open until 8 Tuesday-Thursday, and 7 on Friday). When I got there I waited a few minutes before Kristen came out to bring me over. I was psyched to see that her own cut did right exactly what my last cut did wrong so she would know exactly what I was talking about! I’m usually a little uncomfortable in salons but I felt at ease here, Kristen was friendly but not too talkative and she took her time to do a great job. The price was also great. I’m definitely going back.

If you’re not the superficial type who cares about your appearance or if you have a great sense of humor and don’t mind people poking fun of your haircut, then this place is for you! The girl who cut my hair needs to go back to beauty school and stop practicing on paying customers.
