Not particularly spectacular winery or a café but we were feeling nostalgic for the cuisine so we decided to stop by. The Winery is the closest one to the Watkins Glen so it was a decent place to visit after a long day. I think that the menu we had isn’t available but we were craving Goulash and Pickled Herring and that craving has been satisfied… Ambiance and décor in the café could be better but we weren’t complaining… I think it’s a decent place to visit for the views onto the Seneca but I think there are other wineries that have great wines along Rt-14 a little further up the road.

Food was great! Has gluten free options and vegetarian options that are amazing! This is the ONLY place in Watkins Glen with gluten free bread!

We ate here a few years back and am sad that they no longer offer the nightly weekend buffet. This is the only place I know you can get true German food! Have been coming to the Finger lakes area for 20 years! We just love it, the wineries are great and friendly people. Coming up in Sept. 2015, so, hoping they have the buffet then.

Great food, great wine, quaint atmosphere, awesome view of Seneca Lake from the deck. Accommodating friendly staff and a great place for special get together.

A head’s up here! This place is under new management and right now they are only serving lunch — no dinners or buffets. Also, they no longer accept certificates. I was planning a visit this weekend to enjoy the day in the Glen and then dinner at C G, but plans have to change. If I ever do get there, I’ll review again!

We went here for late lunch at about 3:30 on a Saturday. The goulash was delicious as were the reuben and bratwurst. The décor was definitely dated, but the food made up for it.

This place was not easy to find. The sign directions suck. It’s back off the road in a neighborhood. I don’t think a salty taste is a great thing for wine, but they had two wines that my comments on were salty. Not a fan.

Beautiful grounds overlooking the lake, and lively, friendly staff. Their wines are light and are very smooth with no bite. We grabbed a bottle of their Red Chancellor and White Chablis.

Save yourself and skip this winery! The wine was almost undrinkable and the inside needs a complete overhaul. I had to walk through the restaurant to use the ladies room and the décor screamed senior citizen. Pink table cothes and the bathroom had a hand dryer that must have been late 60’s. I won’t soon forget the experience. It was truly the worst wine of the trip.

Fantastic view for our German buffet dinner on the back deck! We loved the food– it was really delicious. Our server, Lisa was wonderful. Overall– our experience here was great to start our Finger Lakes trip!

I was here last month and this place was great! We entered the wine tasting room around closing time yet we were greeted so warmly and openly and the gentleman working inside really took his time explaining the wines and the grapes and took time to just chit chat with us. He was so sweet and friendly! And the wines were really good(although not my favorite wine from Seneca Lake for sure). We were hoping to have dinner in the dining room that night but off season the dining room is only open on weekends(we arrived on a Thursday). So we made a point the next night to go back to Castel Grisch to have dinner. And I have to say, my boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised. The delicious smells as you pull into the parking lot made my mouth start to water. They have a German buffet and due to the extensive variety, we decided to both try it. It was so yummy! Everything from the salad with homemade dressing, to the German beef stew(awesome!), to the different types of meats, to the homemade desserts, everything was so yummy… there was only one thing in the entire buffet that I was not crazy about and that was the potato pancakes. And the only reason is because I like them really crispy but when you put something like that into a buffet it, unfortunately, tends to get soggy. Such a minor complaint though amongst the pile of delicious food I had on my plate. This place has a gorgeous view as well and a really big deck… unfortunately it was too cold for us to sit outside, but we got a nice table with a great view inside the dining room. Service was great — everyone was so friendly — and the fact that you can drink any of their delicious wines while eating really authentic German food up in the Finger Lakes is pretty incredible. I will absolutely be going back here the next time I am up there — I highly recommend it!

The Burgermeister is disappointing. Both in our party sent them back. It was like it was a frozen patty stacked 2 high. Fast food would have been better. The others in our party enjoyed their Reubens and goulash soup.
