I’ve had my hair cut here on several occasions, and unfortunately, I’ve only walked away happy with my experience a handful of those times. You’d think I’d have learned by now, right? After my last experience, though, that’s definitely about to change. My mom and I walked in last Saturday afternoon(the day before Mother’s day) to get haircuts. We were both worried about it being busy, but were pleasantly surprised to find all of the chairs empty. One of the stylists greeted us right away, signed us in, and got us seated. The girl then turned to me and politely asked what style I wanted. Now, this is the part where I need to mention that I have thick, very wavy/curly hair. I also have a hard time getting my hair to grow past my shoulders. Because of this, I typically get the same cut every time: Cut off the dead ends, but keep as much length possible. Then, add in layers starting at my jaw line. Simple, but flattering. This usually takes at least 30 minutes. After attempting to wet my hair by bottle before ultimately taking me over to the sink to do it properly given my amount of hair, she gets to work. Soon, all of my dead ends are on the floor. It’s been about 10 minutes. I know the job is incomplete before she even turns me around to ask how I like it. I reminded her about the layers, and she tells me that I already have layers.(Of course I have layers. But they grew out.) Then, without asking where or how I part my hair, she begins chopping at the top layer of my hair. Another 5 minutes go by, and she says she’s done. Unfortunately, because my hair is still damp, I can’t tell exactly how it will look dry. Without sweeping up first, she tells me to get up so she can cut my mom’s hair. This is another moment I’d like to interject by mentioning that there were 3 other stylists milling about the entire time and not one of them approached my mom while my hair was being cut. Instead, they gossiped and waxed one of the other stylist’s eyebrows.(Very professional.) Our stylist then got to work on my mom’s hair, paying even less attention to detail than mine. Which is sad considering my mom had picked the style she wanted out of a one of their own books. But once again, much too soon, she turned my mom towards the mirror to see her hair. It looked cute… at the time. She, too, was asked to climb out of the chair into our now combined piles of hair. We then paid and left. It wasn’t until much later at home that we were able to assess the real damage. The stylist had hacked huge, uneven chunks out of my mom’s hair, and then she used a flat iron to curl the ends to hide the damage instead of fixing it. It was awful. And mine wasn’t any better. The only way I can describe it would be as a poofy, slightly grown-out mullet. The absolute ONLY reason I give this«salon» 2 stars instead of 1 was because when I had my hair cut there back in October, THAT stylist had been SO amazing and helpful. But ONE good stylist, ONE time does not make up for this last experience or any other bad experience I’ve had there. I guess you get what you pay for. Would not recommend to anyone.
