We eat here weekly, almost always on Monday nights, since it is one of the few restaurants open in downtown Waxahachie on Mondays. Highlights: Crawfish roll, volcano roll, chahan(fried rice), streak and veggie stir fry w/tempura fried shrimp(Samurai plate?), Chicken skewers, Yakatori sauce, tempura fried veggies, carrot cake for dessert Lowlights: Servers continually changing, sometimes slow service /confusion

Great tempura vegetables and chicken yakitori! The meatballs were a bit too rich for my taste, and the tempura salmon wasn’t very good. The salad that comes with the lunch specials is very tasty — really good dressing. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Music choice is odd — sounds like late 90s/early 2000s top 40 rock.

I was so sad to see the Toshios in Duncanville close down, but oh so happy to see one pop up in Waxahachie! This Toshios happens to be in an old hotel, which is creepy and cool. To get to the bathrooms you have to walk down creepy squeaky stairs down a long hall and go through a few doors. There are a few different seating areas which is neat. Doesn’t make it seem over crowded. The staff is super friendly. Our waitress was on point and even drew a puppy dog on my sons cup which was cute! Now for the food… Toshios has the best tempura fried vegetables ever! I’ve tired them at many places… but this place is always the best! My mom and I shared the shogun stir fry with steak. It was excellent! The noodles and steak with semi crunchy steamed veggies was perfection! They also have sushi and a German menu which is pretty awesome. Didn’t get to try those yet, but will for sure be back one day to try it!

If you’re traveling on 287, do yourself a favor and skip the typical chain restaurants along the highway. Instead, take the time to drive into the downtown area and visit Toshio’s. Who knew you could combine sushi and old school German food and end up with excellence? Toshio’s managed to pull it off perfectly. Be sure and order the 3 roll special, there’s a nice variety to choose from and you get three full rolls. The miso soup is served up hot and fresh with good flavor. The highlight has to be the seared pepper tuna. This isn’t your typical pepper tuna. You’ll notice a pleasant Texas twist with a bit of mesquite smoke flavor. Not enough to overwhelm the delicious tuna taste, just enough to enhance it. Overall the Moto Foodie gives Toshio’s a rating of moto win! Til next trip… The Moto Foodie

A German and Japanese restaurant you say?! Indeed it is. Located inside the supposedly haunted Rogers hotel was this little interesting place. Greeted by a nice little asian lady, we sat at the bar which I was pleasantly surprised to see was fully stocked literally to the top of the ceiling. Decent pricing. In fact I would say great pricing. I had 2 very generic rolls(tuna roll and a crunchy spicy tuna roll) which were satisfying, a kirin light and a hot sake = $ 20. Not bad right?! Then again we are in Waxahachie so I wouldn’t expect any different. The table next to us was speaking German and sharing cheese plates. There was a live accordion player that was being cheered on by a large group seated in front of us. I would definitely go back next time I’m in town. My friends shared an order of fried rice and chicken teriyaki which looked of generous portions and they said was good.

Absolutely fabulous food! The Rogers Hotel is such a great setting for this upscale restaurant. The servers can help you select food which you will love. The sushi is excellent.

As one of two sushi spots in Waxahachie, I wanted desperately to like this place but came away mostly disappointed. The location is great. However, the service is clumsy and the food is mostly forgettable. The iced tea was awful. It tasted like it had been made with dirty dish water. We ordered the large bento box and some rolls. The chicken yakitori from the bento was over cooked to the point of being inedible. The sashimi was basically thick chunks of previously frozen fish, maybe sushi grade, maybe not. The crunch roll was rolled in stale tempura crunch. The shrimp tempura was good and so was the cucumber salad but at the end of the day, I paid $ 75 plus tip for a meal that I didn’t even want to eat because it was so badly executed.

Well… we were excited about the location! BUT… food was not so great. We ate In the Sushi Bar and waitress was nice, but did not see much of her due to being short on waiters. I do hope they improve on wait time, hygien(don’t want to know) and staff.

I went there twice last week. First visit I had tempura jalapeños… great. Then the Sauerbraten… quite good. The next visit I had the tempura avocados. If you love them, you have to try them. The crunchiness of the tempura with the warm creamy avocado flavor was great. I had the three roll special which is good enough for two with sides. Next time I’m in town I’ll be there.

This location gets 5+ stars for charm and potential — setup in the lobby of an old hotel on the town square. Very cool. My sushi roll was good, our ramen was missing half the ingredients, and the karage chicken was huge(needed seasoning, but portion was great). Guys at the sushi bar were yucking it up like they were bar tenders, and oblivious that most of us in the dining room were looking at them to just MAKETHE F’INGSUSHI. It seemed like one guy was responsible for waiting on tables, and although he was very nice, it was too much for him to handle. Very long periods of no contact, or «I’ll be right back», etc. Big points for brining all our food out at once, and it was all hot(or properly cold). Overall I’m happy to see them in Waxahachie, and hopefully they’ll get a floor manager that knows how to run a dining room.

The restaurant is located in the old Rogers hotel in Waxahachie. I had dinner at the bar and it’s a cool looking building lots of history. And a great selection of beers from around the world as well as whiskey bourbon and sake. The owner lived in Japan and in Germany which has a lot of influences at this restaurant I ordered the veal octopus and albacore tuna all were good but not sure it was the best that I’ve ever had. The seaweed salad was good too and the service was excellent. In this part of the state I would recommend if you’re looking for sushi. Also I heard that there German sausages were to die for. But I did not have a chance to try them.

Very nice Japanese Resturant! Located in old town waxahachie, with separate dinning areas. Just a neat place to have dinner. This is a gem, you need to come by before this place gets popular!

Food is good. Service is horribly slow. Order to go. Won’t come back. 2.5 hours is too long. Kobe burgers takes 1 hr to make.

We have been Toshio’s customers for close to 24 years, one of our favorite places to eat when in Duncanville. This is our 2nd visit to the new location in Waxahachie. The location is cool on the downtown square in the historic Rogers Hotel building. Pros– the food is still as good as it always has been. The quantity and flavor is always what kept us coming back! We even tried the new Waxahachie roll, even though we usually stick to tempura. I also like the quietness of new location, but guess that may be due to it being a little slow the day we were there, but it made for a nice visit. They are also open for lunch now, finally! Cons– as with the first time we visited the new location, the service was really slow. I don’t know if it’s the layout of kitchen to dining area or server issues, but seemed to take a while to get everything ordered. Although it has improved since first visit. However, we were 1 of 2 tables there so not sure what would happen if busy. The prices have increased slightly, but you still get a lot of food for money. Overall, if your are in area be sure to visit.

We were welcomed as soon as we walked into the Rodgers Hotel. We were soon greeted by a server and sat next to a window overlooking the street. They have an extensive collection of scotch and bourbon compared to any other place in town. We ordered 3 different sushi from the menu along with cucumber rolls as an appetizer. The chef came out to the table to offer us a sampling of the new Waxahachie roll. Our waiter was extremely helpful in helping us decide what to order. I would recommend Toshio’s over usuba if you want great sushi at a fare price.

Excellent service and the bartender was very knowledgeable! Wait staff was on top if their game and provided valuable input as to what to order. Laid back atmosphere with options! You can sit in the main dining area are take a seat in the sushi bar. Oh yeah… Then you can take a seat at the real bar. Food was delicious too!

Unfortunately since moving to their new location the quality of food and service has suffered. While the waitstaff attempts to address the shortcomings they are unsuccessful in overcoming ineffective management oversight and an arduously slow sushi bar(who puts out marginal quality sushi at best). We won’t be coming back anytime soon.

I love you guys! I hate that you moved! :( The food was always excellent, fresh and accommodating to different dietary requirements. The food was truly art and I am going to have to travel to Waxahachie to visit again! Good luck in your new venture!
