If you want to see alligators up close, this is the place to go. Stay away from the gator names crazy. He hissed at us. Not cool. We went on the boat tour and the train tour. I loved the guided boat tour because they give you a lot of info about the history of the swamp.

Most commercialized park I’ve ever been to. Gift shop right at the entrance, have to pay to see anything worthwhile, and no pets allowed. We drove almost 2 hours to get here thinking the dog would be able to walk trails with us but I guess not. Website said they were free to enter but that’s not true. I guess it’s good for tourists who don’t know you can see gators pretty much all over south GA for free. Not worth the money or the drive.

Okedachokey swamp is kind of neat for the outdoor shooting range. You need a state park pass to shoot there, they are marginal in cost. Bring cardboard, zip ties, targets. Everyone will hold fire if you wait to ask. People are really nice there. Though it’s a little weird, everyone to their eyeballs in firearms and ammo, in the middle of nowhere… yet somehow safe? Clean up after yourself. Put your brass in the trash and targets too. It’s quite a trip getting there. Recommend to drive something higher like at least an SUV. A car will likely bottom out on this strange dirt road.

First time there. Everyone really friendly. Did the train ride around the park, then the boat tour. Boat tour was great, came upon the mother gator guarding her nest and lots of small gators near the boat. The s n ack shack was pretty good. Alligator on a stick and frog legs. They also had deep fried squash chips-delicious.

Okay first of all, I have never even heard of this swamp before my husband told me about it. I looked it up, said sure why not lets go. I left to come here from Tybee Island, so the drive only took about 2 hours give or take. It was super hot though, but of course it is supposed to be hot, its a swamp. We didn’t do the boat ride, but we did do the train ride which included the nature show too. I had a lot of fun, and got to see a lot of alligators which was cool. I even got up and close to one when leaving since it was right near the sidewalk. The train ride took about 45 minutes, and the nature show took about 30 min. Then we got to walk the trails that was shaded and I got to see otters and more gators. Afterwards, we went to the little café where we ate the best gator bites I ever had. Better than Papadeaux! Not sure when and if I will be back, but this was a real nice experience.

Awesome place for the price! The park itself is a bargain, and the swamp boat tour was great, even if quick. I’ve been to plenty of parks, zoos, etc all across the country, and I have to say, this place has a very unique approach when it comes to dangerous wildlife. This place has a ton of gators. And guess what? Almost NONE of them are in pens or otherwise unable to attack yo azz. Not just on the boat, no, while you are walking around the park on the sidewalk. You will most likely find yourself within 5′ of a huge ass, live gator, at some point on your trip, with NOTHING between the two of you but some grass or concrete. FYI, there are NOFAKEGATORS(statues, etc.) at this park! So any gator you see in the distance, well, that mf is REALASCANBE. I heard a couple that day talking about wanting their child to go sit on the«gator statute» for a picture, only to realize that the alligator in question was as real as they get. lmao. Our guide on the boat also re-iterated this – no gator statutes/artwork at the park; they’re all real. Anyway, awesome place for a great price! Do check their schedule in advance, because their boat tours/animal shows/train tours run on a 2– or 3 hour loop. Edit**** If you are upset because you can’t bring your dog here, you’re out of your fxxin mind. 15 minutes and your dog would be gator soup.

Best veggie sandwich I ever ate in the café there. Small little café in the shop where you buy your tickets and souvenirs. Get lunch when you stop for the boat tour. Which is awesome. We learned Tons of ecology, biology, forestry, and zoology from our guide. Fascinating place and plenty of gators! Stay off the trails! The kids and I had a BLAST. Way better than the jet boat tours in Florida. More interesting! And hopefully they still make that veggie sandwich!

I went here a few years ago(after all the fires) and even with the burnt trees it was still cool to see! The animals aren’t locked in cages so you can literally be 3 feet away from a alligator which is scary but cool! The boat tour is cool and interesting. The train tour is cool as well. We saw one of the shows there also and I got to touch a baby alligator. Overall this place is cool and educational. I’m not one for bugs but we went in late Sept. And it wasn’t bad at all! I recommend this to anyone in the area looking for something to do. Plus it’s fun to give people cool alligator souvenirs from there! :)

I didnt want to go. Anyone that talked to me before we left KNEW how bad I didnt want to go. I dont care for the heat, I dont like bugs. Lets face it, I am not a country girl. Now, having said that — I loved this place. We had a fantastic time. The park was clean, educational and full of exhibits that appealed to my lil artsy self. We took the hour long boat tour and when our tour guide started talking with this deep south ‘yer in fer a good time’ spill I thought — oh hell let me just drown myself now. Now, I happen to believe that you indeed CAN judge a book by a cover. NOT true with ‘TJ, the boat guide’ He was wonderful. I could go on for hours about this trip. This artsy atlanta city chick had a blast. Worth the drive, great family destination. 12 admission with no boat tour 16 w/30 min tour 20 w/1 hour tour I would highly recomment the hour tour but ask for TJ The train tour left a lot to be desired, we had a canned tour guide but it was still a nice ride through the park.
