I am a graduate of the Barker school of ballet. I was enrolled at 5 years old and stayed until 18(with a hiatus from 9 – 13 where we moved away from the area, and then moved back). If I were still in the area, I would probably continue to take class with the Barkers to this day! The school is truly unique. There are girls of all skill levels, and I feel the Barkers strike a great balance between preparing dancers for a professional career, and catering to the girls who love dance but may not want to make it a career. They foster a cooperative and community based atmosphere. I never felt like certain dancers were favored over others. In fact, it really felt like we were a family. The studio is beautiful, unique and the Barkers truly care for their students. Allyson and Neta are always introducing students to new styles of dance and arranging master classes. We had a troupe that brought joy to nursing homes and other volunteer opportunities. There were times where my single father didn’t make the tuition payments, and they continued to support me and didn’t make this an issue for my education. I really appreciated the stability of the studio. I feel like I received top-tier training without compromising the health of my body. At 35, I continue to dance to this day because of the appreciation I learned from the Barkers.

This is a truly wonderful Ballet school. My daughter took classes here for 15 years. She learned so much from this wonderful mother/daughter team. In addition to dance, she gained poise, confidence and self discipline. These added benefits have contributed so much to her life as a young woman. I highly recommend this ballet school!
