Good solid sandwiches. I love their combinations. Their bread is awesome and their ingredients are always fresh. They also have wonderful soup and the flavor changes so you Can try several kinds in one week. They lose a star because even when I call in the order the wait is a little long.

Was really excited to eat here due to a recommendation that it was like a sandwich shop from back home… No, it wasn’t. Had high hopes but it didn’t measure up. The bread could’ve been more toasty, and more melted cheese. Plus, they don’t have a soda fountain… The employees, while nice, are grungy, and are kind of a turn off. In fact, the whole décor of the place is a turnoff. Clean it up a bit!

This was my first time here, and I really had no expectations going into the restaurant. The décor is very mismatched and reminds me somewhat of a cafeteria. That being said, my rating has nothing to do with the décor. There are two bread options — sourdough and wheat — but after ordering the wheat I was told they had run out. I settled for the sourdough and ordered a small sliced turkey sandwich specifically replacing the mayonnaise with mustard. Also, I got the order to go. After 10 minutes it was announced that my to go «turkey without mayonnaise» sandwich was ready. When I got home and opened the sandwich I was disappointed to see the absence of mustard, but more unfortunately the presence of mayonnaise. In trying to scrape the mayonnaise off, I noticed how greasy the lettuce was… Yum? Oil dripped from the sandwich as I ate it, and I could basically only taste the inordinate amount of cheese. Also, the edges of the bread was burnt. Altogether it was disappointing.

Get the salvation. You won’t be disappointed. The bread is made in house, and daily. It’s a fair price for the amount of food you get. It’s way better than Schlotsky’s. The staff is usually friendly, and the wait usually isn’t long. The two downsides that I can see are: 1. The location and signage kinda sucks. It’s kind of hidden in my humble opinion. If you don’t know where it is, you will drive by it easily. Unfortunately for them, I think the way the city has grown, they see a decrease of business. I would think they still get good traffic from the 9th grade center. 2. The lunch meat is pretty basic as far as quality. It’s not anything different in my opinion that what I can get packaged from the store. However, I’m not sure if there is a higher quality that can be purchased at the price point of the sandwiches. Even with the 2 downsides of the place, this is still one of my favorite shops in Weatherford.

Love their sandwhiches… the small is even big. My husband is from California and tells everyone that comes here they have to try it. Location is forgettable just always drive by and miss it.

We stopped over in Weatherford and The Girlfriend mentioned there are two places we have to try: Alvin Ords and The Pizza Place. We decided to hit Alvin Ords first. The place as you know is a bit of a dive and is pretty much a no-frills operation. I ordered the soup and sandwich combo, going with half a Salvation(Ham and Salami) and a cup of chicken dumpling soup. Any place that bakes their own bread definitely gets points and Alvin Ords’ is quite good. I would put the style of the bread the serve along the same lines at Schlotzky’s, but I definitely think it is better. It makes for a nice, fresh, simple sandwich. I also thought the chicken dumpling soup was great, reminded me of the same that grandmother used to make. The prices are about the same as most other sandwich restaurants, so I really have no idea what E.K. is talking about. So if you have a sandwich craving in Weatherford, I would say Alvin Ords is definitely your place.

I’ve had better sandwichs at Subway. They use the kind of bread that they use at Schlotsky’s. Not sure what its called. I’m a bigger dude and can throw down some food, so for the sandwich I wanted, it practically cost me an arm and a leg. Then I get the thing and its DRENCHED in mayonaisse and cheese. I couldn’t taste the meat. The building is old and not so clean. I’ll try a different place next time.

Don’t come here for the décor, but sandwiches are awesome! If you eat meat, do yourself a favor and order and order a Salvation; you won’t be disappointed! I grew up with the Alvin Ord’s in San Marcos, and I was not disappointed with the Weatherford location at all. I will definitely eat here again! My only suggestion would be is to add a soda machine.

Went for lunch. VERY busy. I had the Turkey Club with bacon on wheat bread, spouse had The Salvation — Ham/Salami on french bread. Both were very good. Served with choice of chips and an iced tea. Plenty of room inside to eat, the FREE Wifi worked well, almost every diner was on a smartphone or Ipad, very cool. Good place to have good food and hang out. Recommended

Wow… the Cheese Salvation is one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I’ve ever had. When I visited today, though, the bathrooms, which are outside, were very dirty. Hopefully they’ll be cleaner next time since I definitely will need another Cheese Salvation soon. If you bike from the state park on the Rails to Trails it’s about 19 miles one way to Alvin Ords.

Delicious Sandwhiches! As a student — Wifi would have really been handy. Homemade bread is impossible to fake. This is the real thang! Menu is a stack of fourth generation xerox copies. Décor looks like a high school theatre prop department’s left overs meets Dairy Queens’s furnishings from the 1980’s. Kitchen area is very disorganized and the the ice maker has a layer of dirt around it — all in full view at checkout! Desperately needs a facelift. This place could be overflowing if they leaned into the old time Sandwhiches shop look just a little bit. Luckily the food is so good — the decorum doesn’t matter, but before I received my sandwhich — I wasn’t optimistic.

My husband and I usually stop at fast food restaurants when traveling, but wanted something else this time. I saw this on Unilocal and decided to try it out. Alivn has hot and cold sandwiches, soups, and salads as well as a kids menu. The hubbie got The Salvation and really liked it and I got the BLT. The bacon is wonderful, not to mention how great the homemade bread was. We really enjoyed it and would stop there again if we come back this way. Really good, fresh food and a fun atmosphere. If you do stop, don’t miss the life-size cut out of Scarlet O’Hara and what appears to be a collection of local art!

Best sandwiches EVER! I get the Small Salvation every time I come here(my Vegetarian friends get the Cheese Salvation and say that it’s the best). The bread is baked fresh daily, the cheese is melted perfectly, and the sandwich is heaven! I have searched Los Angeles far and wide for a sandwich that is comparable, but have not succeeded. If you haven’t gone to Alvin Ord’s yet, go now!
