I don’t really understand the love affair with Hegedorns, unless it’s just because it’s «not Wegmans». It’s the place you go when you need to pick up a couple things or something fast — but it’s not a place I would go for a full grocery shop. The only reason they are getting more than 1 star is because they do have a great beer selection and some random snacks that Wegmans doesn’t carry. Their produce selection is minimal — just your basics. Their meat isn’t premium quality — just your standard USDA. There is also this weird aroma I smell throughout the store — reminds me of the smell that Tops markets seem to have. They have their regulars but to feed a household, it won’t cut it. I know we want to keep our small businesses going strong but I am just not impressed — I am definitely spoiled by wegmans and would rather spend the money to have a selection/options. Sorry Webster — It’s just not as great as you think it is.

This a good small local store. They have a wide selection of beer, some local products you won’t find in other stores, and tasty baked goods. They don’t have as many products as Wegmans, but it is a good place to stop if you want to get in and out quickly.

Love this local grocery store. The prices are a little higher and I don’t do general grocery shopping here, but they do have some items other places don’t have. I love the donuts and bakery! You definitely need to go and try some of the donuts — especially the white cream, apple fritters.

I love this little«mom and pop» grocery store! This place is right around the corner from us and sometimes it’s easier to swing by here instead of fighting our way through Wegmans(especially at 5pm after getting out of work.) For a small grocery store, they carry so many unique products/brands that other grocers don’t have. For instance, Hegedorn’s will have like 20 different brands of, say, peanut butter while Wegmans might have 6??? So much more of a selection here. Prices seem slightly higher for general groceries. GREAT meat dept, large bakery dept(donuts were voted as one of the best in Rochester — lost to Donuts Delite), produce is good and THEBEERSELECTIONISAMAZING! Seriously, we went to Beers of the World earlier today and the selection at Hegedorns is pretty sick for a small grocery store!!! And not that I can compare ALL the prices but I noticed some of the beer prices were LOWER at Hegedorns. Guida’s pizza’s is in the front left corner of the store. Good ‘za. Will miss this place as my husband and I are moving to NC.

Disclaimer: I drive all the way out here for the beer. Haven’t really gone through the rest of the store. This is out in Webster, which is a good 20 – 30 min drive out on 104 for me. I usually come here about once a month when I can because Dave, the guy in charge of the beer, knows his stuff and is always willing to make suggestions and is extremely knowledgeable in the art and culture of beer. I always leave with a number of bottles, even when I’m only meaning to «look around.» The beer aisle is right in the middle of the store, right ahead of the main entrance. Very strategically located. There are a few display stands of various featured beers. There is a fridge filled with fresh growlers from the local Rohrbach’s and hoppy selections from Ithaca, Stone, Founders, and Ballast Point, which is located at the end of the aisle. As you walk down the aisle, the cooler has a large number of craft offerings from local NY breweries such as Custom Brewcrafters, Ithaca, Southern Tier, Middle Ages, Ommegang, Blue Point, etc… as well as beers from around the country: Bear Republic, Boulder, Ballast Point, Alesmith, Flying Dog, Founders, St. Somewhere, Great Divide, Samuel Smith’s, etc. They occasionally have specialty releases such as Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, Ithaca Brute, New England Imperial Stout Trooper, and more. The other end of the aisle are your Belgian style beers from Unibroue, Ommegang, Trappistes Rochefort, Chimay, Delirium, Duchesse du Bourgogne, and Rodenbach. So the selection is wonderful, probably second to Beers of the World, but I will say that the beer at Hegedorn’s is MUCH fresher than BOTW. I’ve seen stuff sit at BOTW for over a year past the best by date and it is still sold for original price, and these are beers that cannot be aged(IPA’s, pale ales, etc), whereas the IPA’s at Hegedorn’s are usually fresh. There aren’t too many crappy beer selections here, which certainly suits my taste. The prices are good, usually cheaper than BOTW. Probably one of the better beer places in the area. I would probably consider myself a regular here. For my purposes, this gets 4.5 stars. Solid.

Good luck finding the place. I had no idea that there were two Ridge Roads in Webster. I almost gave up and went to Wegmans(on Ridge Road) instead, but my inner male said keep on going and lets get really lost. Then there it was, in the horizon, slowly unfolding, what I was driving aimlessly looking for: beer. Cheers: Love the«retro– throwback» exterior and décor. An awful lot of hot underage girls seem to work here. Hmmm. That’s one way to build customer loyalty. I dug the shirt and tie thing on the ladies, then realized I was being deviant(again). Nice selection of NY, New England, and Mid-Atlantic micros. A couple of Cali concotions and some Mid West brews in case you’re somehow bored with anything east of the Miss. Good brews were positioned at the beginning of the case, swill at the far end. Prices were swell, very affordable. Everything is cold, making the prospect of road sodas a possibility. I love stores where one can plan a night of fun: frozen pizza, lighter fluid, rubber bands, Cigs, and Lysol can be purchased. True one stop shopping. I would need to compare the prices to Save Alot and would love to support them, but lets face it: I’m a cheap ass when it comes to food. That way I can afford great beer. Jeers: The area is being taken over by Benderson and his big box stores. The cashier that winked at you and gave you the come hither look really is an undercover Webster cop who is going to bust you and make your name front page news for the Democrat and Chronicle. Could really use some arrows painted on the floor directing one towards the beer, this way I don’t have to waste time walking through the cards and candles section(I’m allergic to cards and candles, ask my g/f).

Amazing amount of different and unusual microbrews. All refrigerated and carefully stocked by a card carrying/t-shirt wearing member of Beer Advocate, not some corporate droid from a chain who worries more about square foot marketing, but someone passionate about beer.
