Hidden Valley Campground

My husband, 4 yr old son and I stayed at this campground on Saturday night. We thought it would be a fun family getaway, and my husband and I had stayed at your campground about 6 years ago and had a pleasant experience back then. This time was much different. We arrived at about 9:45 in the morning, and there was no one at the office or campstore, to be able to check-​in. So, we decided to set up camp and check back later. We checked again about an hour later, still no one there; It wasn’t until after 11:00, that someone was finally there (at the campstore… no one was at the office the entire day), and there was hardly any firewood; we ended up buying the last 4 bundles. The bathroom facilties were disgusting, toilets that didn’t flush, vomit in one of them, no soap in the dispenser. I had informed someone that the soap was empty, but it never got filled the whole time we were there. To me, the unsanitary conditions were unacceptable. We went canoeing, came back… still no more firewood. We were informed it would be about 3 more hours. 3 more hours had passed, and still no more wood. It wasn’t until after 9 pm that the tractor went around to our campsite to sell more wood; by this point in time, our fire had long gone out, and we had no desire to re-​start it, since it was already wet out… I’m not sure what the issue with the firewood was, but this also was unacceptable. For a campsite to have such poor planning to run out of firewood (essentially) on a Friday night; to not be replaced until it was too late for most campers on a (cold and wet 50 degree) Saturday? To add to the frustration the supposed «rules» were not enforced at all. There were dogs off leashes, and music blaring through the campground until 2 am, when the police finally showed up. The music was so loud, we could hear it and the drunken, filthy-​mouthed campers all the way down at the other end of the campground quite clearly; I felt like I was in some sort of bad nightclub. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough in the morning. I cannot believe this was our experience; to spend $ 40 on this place is outrageous. They need to re-​evaluate the way you run their business. Everything about this trip was a disappointment.
